I m starting this thread to generally discuss any misconceptions people have on either side regarding udasi or baba sri chand maharaj...while we can discuss generally regarding udasis..also if i may educate new age hybrid young taksalis who have mocked udasi and baba sri chand maharaj on other thread..they wrote

But do tell me, why don't you tell your sisters to dress like the udhasis, especially like your Sri Chand Maharaj ji or get your wife to follow their way of thinking which is incoporated into how they dress? If you take this as an offence then learn next time to think before you speak and others won't have to use such examples to show your minds slavery to backwards thinking.

Its fine and dandy if someone does not agree with their life style from singh sabha perspective, but when someone who claim themselves taksali and under taksal banner- criticize udhasi life style..i just have to step up and politely remind them what their taksali jathedars thought about their life style. I would genuinely advise senior members of taksal to advise these new age hybrid taksalis not to represent taksal in such manner so they can just please their new age hybrid smagam buddies...kinda pathetic really..!!

Book: Itihaas Damdami Taksaal (Sankhep)
Editor: Didar Singh Khujaala
Language: Punjabi
Pages: 262
Second Edition, October 1999
Price: Rupees 40.
Publisher: Damdami Taksaal (Jatha Bhindraan), Gurdwara Gurdarshan Parkaash, Mehta, Amritsar.
Printer: Printwell, 146, Industrial Focal Point, Amritsar.

This book is an effort to bring out the history of Damdami Taksaal. The book says that Guru Amardas Ji appointed 22 'Manjis' and 72 'Peerhaas' to preach the Gurbani. Guru Arjan Dev Ji edited 'Beerh Sahib' (Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji). Baba Sri Chand started preaching the Gurmat. After Sri Chand, Baba Gurditta Ji was famous 'Mahatma' of Udasi sect. There were four disciples of Baba Gurditta Ji. Their names were 'Baalu Hasna', 'Phoole Shah', 'Goyenda' and 'Almast'. They established four 'Dhooney' of Udasis. The four 'Dhooney' and six 'Bakhsishaan' are called 'Das Naam Udasi'. All the Udasis belonging to these 'Dhooney' and 'Bakhshishaan' established hundred of 'Deras', 'Akhaarhe' and centers. During the hard days of Mughal rule, Udasis, Nirmalas and Seva Panthis continued to preach Sikhi. The book tells that many chiefs of Sikh 'Misals' adopted Sikhi under influence of Udasi, Nirmalas and Sevapanthis.
During the 'Singh Sabha Movement', Udasis and Nirmalas established idols of Sri Chand and removed Sri Guru Granth Sahib, or they installed other books of Hindu religious books along with Guru Granth Sahib, so that their 'deras' could not be taken over under new Gurdwara Act. The book says that Udasis used not to cut their hair/beard, but frightened by Singh Sabha movement, now 'Jataa-dhari', 'Mundit', 'Bhasmadhari', 'Nange' and those, who wear russet clothes, can be seen.

According to the book, Bhai Gurdas Ji, Bhai Budhha Ji used to do the 'katha' of Gurbani. During the time period of Guru Hargobind Sahib to Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, Sikh-scholars used to 'Katha'. When Guru Gobind Singh came to 'Sabo Ki Talwandi', Guru Ji sent Baba Deep Singh alongwith 25 Singhs to Dheer Mal to bring the 'Gurbani Beerh', which was compiled by Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Dheer Mal refused to do so.
The writer is mistaken here. When Guru Gobind Singh Ji arrived Sabo Ki Talwandi, Dheer Mal was not alive at that time. He had been died, so it is wrong to say that he refused to give the Gurbani 'Pothi'.

The book says that Guru Gobind Singh Ji started to recite the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Bhai Mani Singh ji had been writing it. In the morning, Guru Ji used to recite Sri Guru Granth Sahib and Bhai Mani would write it. In the evening Guru Ji would teach its meanings to 48 Singhs. From 'Kattak Sudi Pooranmaasi', Sambat 1762 Bikrami to 23 'Saavan', 1763 Bikrami, in 9 months and 9 days, Guru Ji completed the work.

According to the book, Bhai Mani Singh started the 'Taksal' at Sri Amritsar and Baba Deep Singh Ji started it at Damdama Sahib. The names of 48 Singhs, who were educated by Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Sabo Ki Talwandi, have been given in this book.
Then, the brief biographies have been given of Taksal-chiefs. Baba Deep Singh Ji was the first chief of Damdami Taksal. It is written in this book that when Guru Gobind Singh Ji gave 'Guruship' to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Bhai Mani Singh ji was doing the 'Chaur' over Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Baba Deep Singh Ji, Bhai Dharam Singh Ji, Bhai Hari Singh Ji, Bhai Santokh Singh Ji Bhai Gurbaksh Singh were present there as 'Panj Piyare'.

The writer did not quote to any of old Guru-history books to prove his statement that Baba Deep Singh Ji was present there in Sri Hazoor Sahib, Nanded, when Guru Gobind Singh Ji left for his heavenly abode. Instead, he quoted to 'Sri Gurmukh Parkash', written by Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji Khalsa (Bhindran wale), who himself was the chief of Damdami Taksal (Jatha Bhindran). It is not an old book.
The book says that Baba Deep Singh helped Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in every battle and movement. When Baba Banda Singh Bahadur came to Anandpur Sahib, Baba Deep Singh stayed with him for three months. Baba Banda Singh was impressed to listen the 'Katha' by Baba Deep Singh. Here again, the writer did not give reference to any of old books.

According to the book, after the death of Divan Darbara Singh, in 1734 AD Tarna Dal and Budhha Dal were organized. Tarna Dal was divided in five groups. One of these groups was headed by Baba Deep Singh. There were 2,000 horsemen in his group.
When Jahan Khan filled up the 'sarovar' of Sri Amritsar Sahib, Baba Deep Singh came forward to rescue. In a battle, Baba Deep Singh's head was cut off. He put his cut head on his palm and continued to fight. Bhai Mahit Singh and Baba Naudh Singh also fought there without heads.
Baba Gurbaksh Singh Ji was the second chief of Damdami Taksal. He was son of Bhai Dasaunda Singh and Mother Lachhmi Ji of village 'Leel', near Khemkaram, Distt. Amritsar. According to this book, the 'Janamsakhi Giyan Ratnaavali' was recited by Baba Gurbaksh Singh Ji and was written by Bhai Surat Singh. During Abdali's invasion, Amritsar was attacked. Baba Gurbaksh Singh was martyred in the battlefield. Baba Gurbaksh Singh's head was cut off. He started to fight without his head.

The writer says that after the martyrdom of Bhai Mani Singh, the 'Katha' in Sri Harmandir Sahib was stopped, which was restarted by Baba Gurbaksh Singh Ji. The people used to call him 'Nihang Singh'.

Giani Bhai Surat Singh was the next chief. He belonged to village 'Chann-kot', Distt. Jhang (Pakistan). He wrote the 'teeka' of first 'Vaar' of Bhai Gurdas Ji. Bhai Surat Singh took over the control of Sri Harmandir Sahib in 1765 AD. He used to do 'Katha' in Sri Harmandir Sahib.
Born in Sambat 1825 Bikrami, Bhai Gurdas Singh Ji was the next chief of Damdami Taksal, according to this book. He was elder son of Bhai Surat Singh Ji.

After the death of Bhai Gurdas Singh Ji, his younger brother Bhai Sant Singh became the next chief of Damdami Taksal. The writer says that Bhai Sant Singh was the teacher of great poet Bhai Santokh Singh Ji and poet Megh Singh Ji. Bhai Sant Singh Ji expired on 'Haarh Sudi' 8, Samvat 1889 Bikrami.

Sant Dya Singh Ji was the next chief. After his death, Sant Giani Bhagwan Singh became the chief. The writer says that Sant Bhagwan Singh accepted 14 'Gupt Avtaars'. These are the 14 'Gupt Avtaars': -

Baba Sri Chand Ji
Baba Lakhmi Chand ji
Baba Mohari Ji
Baba Mohan Ji
Baba Anand bhagat Ji
Baba Gurditta ji
Baba Sooraj Mal Ji
Baba Ani Rai Ji
Baba Atal Rai Ji
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji
Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Ji
Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji
Sahibzada Fateh Singh Ji
Ramrai Ji

Sant Harnam Singh Bedi was the next (9th) chief of Damdami Taksal, who was succeeded by Sant Bishan Singh Muraale wale. Sant Bishan Singh expired on 'Maagh' 15, 1962 Bikrami. Sant Sundar Singh Bhindrawale was the next chief of Damdami Taksal, who was born in 1883 AD (1940 Bikrami Samvat) in village Bhindar Kalaan, Distt. Firozpur. Sant Gurbachan Singh Bhindrawale, who was born on February 12, 1902, succeeded Sant Sundar Singh.

The biography of Sant Gurbachan Singh Bhindrawale in this book has been written by Sant Kartar Singh Bhindrawale. It is the longest part of this book.

The next chief of Damdami Taksal was Sant Kartar Singh Bhindrawale, according to this book. He died on August 16, 1977 AD. He was succeeded by Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa (Bhindrawale).
Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa was born in 1947 AD in village 'Rode', Distt. Faridkot. This book tells about his role during 'Nirankari and Sikhs dispute' in Amritsar, Nirankari-chief Murder case, Lala Jagat Narayan Murder case, 'Akali Morcha' etc. Interestingly, this book does not give any details of 'Operation Blue Star', which was a big episode of Sikh history. The writer says that Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa went to an un-told place after the 'Operation Blue Star'.
Brief biography of Sant Baba Thakur Singh Ji has also been given in this book, who is acting chief of Damdami Taksal. A brief description of Gurdwara Gurdarshan Prakash, Mehta has been given on last pages.

I will post more..I understand there is an audio file of sant baba gurbachan singh ji bhindranwale correctly doing arth of baba sri chand didn't listen to their father...rightly so..baba sri chand as mentioned in the book later on in his life followed gurmat as mentioned in damdami taksal ethas provided by damdami taksal jathedars...i will contribute tom if maharaj allows me.

If Guru Sahib Maharaj says Guru Nanak Dev Ji's sons did NOT obey his word (meaning they disobeyed him) and turned their back on Guru Nanak Dev Ji as a Guru how can anyone have the himmat to say that Guru Nanak Dev Ji deliberately made a various path?
That directly contradicts Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings of not forming a sect, but a Universal Path for all of humanity.
I don't like how everyone (and i mean everyone) likes to bunch people up into specific mind sets "taksali mindset, paranoid mindset" ect. We all have legitimate concerns and ARE Sikhs and should be able to respectfully discuss these issues.
Is there anything that Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji Bhindranwale, Baba Kartar Singh Ji Bhindranwale, Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Bhindranwale have to say about the Udhasi sect?
What is the fact:

1. Guru Nanak Dev Ji's son disobeyed Guru Sahib
2. Baba Sri Chand could have changed and adopted Gurmat but he didn't, he continued his belief system it seems.
3. Why in Guru Granth Sahib does it not say that Baba Sri Chand accepted his mistake and accepted Gurmat as his lifestyle?

I hope to see what Only Five veerji or other people who have knowledge about the Damdami Taksal's view on this has to say on this matter. To me it's quite simple, I have nothing to learn (other than objectively) from an individual who doesn't follow Gurmat.

I am open to accepting I am wrong though.

I will respect Baba Sri Chand though as the son of Guru Nanak Dev Ji although his views are different.
The Hindus believed and professed that the Vedas are
divine though these so called revealed scriptures are evil sources
of despicable Varna system and artificial and irrational division
of mankind. Guru Nanak Dev Ji discarded the worship of idols,
and gave up all unnatural rituals professed and followed by the
Hindus. He also spurned mysticism and superstitions prevailing
in the Hindu Society. In short he renounced Hindu religion in
unequivocal terms. Had he condemned Hindu religion and
denounced the Vedas, Dharma Shashtras arid Puranas in the
days of Hindu Raj or Ram Raj, he would have been branded as
blasphemous and crucified. It would have been so because the
so called high Caste Hindus are arrogant and intolerant although
they claim to be otherwise. The Guru had a remarkable intuitive
power and deep vision. That is why he did not install his son.
Siri Chand, as his successor, for, he knew that Siri Chand had
leanings towards mystic Hinduism which the Guru had already
renounced. Instead he installed Bhai Lehna, who was renamed
as Angad, to the Guru Gaddi If Siri Chand had succeeded his
father Sikh religion would have relapsed in to Hinduism long
ago. This presumption was found to be true because Sir] Chand
founded a Hindu Sect known as Udasi whose followers are
recluse ascetics and passivists. It is evident that Siri Chand's
Udasi Sect was a negation of Guru Nanak's faith and
philosophy.
Taken from the book The Galant Defender:

I like N30Singh veerji's posts as well but just because we disagree on one or two things doesn't mean we become dushmans lol. We're all Sikhs with varying perspectives based on experience and knowledge. All of which may or may not change as we get more and more knowledge.

At around 7 minutes Baba Hari SIngh Randawe says that if you want to insult someone, you say something along the lines of: "You are a very good person but your allaud (offspring) is worthless and couldn't be helped". Baba Hari Singh Randhawe goes on to say that Guru Nanak Dev Ji could fix the mindset of low people, then Sri Chand was a big deal?

It's important to note that Guru Har Rai Ji disowned his elder son, Ram Rai, for distorting bani to please Aurangzeb. There's a reason why Gurtagaddi was passed to Guru Angad Dev Ji.

Nanak proclaimed Lehna's succession - he earned it.
They shared the One Light and the same way; the King just changed His body.
The immaculate canopy waves over Him, and He sits on the throne in the Guru's shop.
He does as the Guru commands; He tasted the tasteless stone of Yoga.
The Langar - the Kitchen of the Guru's Shabad has been opened, and its supplies never run short.
Whatever His Master gave, He spent; He distributed it all to be eaten.
The Praises of the Master were sung, and the Divine Light descended from the heavens to the earth.
Gazing upon You, O True King, the filth of countless past lives is washed away.
The Guru gave the True Command; why should we hesitate to proclaim this?
His sons did not obey His Word; they turned their backs on Him as Guru.
These evil-hearted ones became rebellious; they carry loads of sin on their backs.
Whatever the Guru said, Lehna did, and so he was installed on the throne.
Who has lost, and who has won? ||2||

For the past couple of days i have been repeating.......go back to our original sources.......Gurbani and Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaars to the sangat here. I am going to thank the OP to providing me the opportunity to show what i mean by this. The original source is the diamond. No one can change it, no one can alter it or cut it, where bits and pieces can be hidden. Gurbani and Bhai Gurdas Ji's Vaars are complete and the truth does not change. In previous threads I have already shown what Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh ji Maharaj has said on Sri Chand including Udhasis when he is doing katha of Bhai Gurdas Ji's Vaars and on Gurbani. Why does the OP want to hide this katha from the sangat..........you should ask him yourself. I have no reason to hide any katha or any diamond from anyone. Some live in fear and hatred, but only put on a show that they don't.

Any person can write a book make videos, etc and make many claims. If any book, video of some person's katha goes against Gurbani and Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaars, then it has to be rejected, unless people enjoy being manukhs, then party on dude!!! Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh ji Maharaj was the Jathedar of Taksal and was taught by Sant Baba Sundar Singh ji Maharaj. Sant ji will never hide what is written in Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaars or Gurbani or any outside truth. He was not scared to reveal the truth about characters that want to be presented as Sikh history by devi worshippers. The Taksal is a jatha that does not go against Bhai Gurdas Ji's Vaars or Gurbani. All the Jathedars katha is evidence to this. The OP has an agenda to promote what his tribe thinks, so he will collect info from many sources that will help him show his tribes thinking. But he will never in his life present you Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaars or Gurbani on this matter because Gurbani does not say what his tribe wants to say. Gurbani and Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaars say the opposite.

Honestly i have nothing against the OP, but i do have something against his lying and cunning ways. The only thing i am going to present on this matter is the diamond which can't be changed, cut or hidden in any fashion. The OP also said many many weeks ago he will look at Sant ji's katha on Bhai Gurdas Ji's Vaars, but that has not happened. And don't hold your breath for this to take place.............you will become a yogi.

If a person wants to leave the diamond and go on sources that are ignorant and biased then that is there choice and jeevan.

So for those that want to read the diamond on this matter and come to the correct conclusion read Bhai Gurdas Ji's Vaars:

At the moment i don't have time to link Sant ji's katha on this Vaar, but when i get time i will surely do it. If someone is very eager to listen then go on to www.GurmatVeechar.com and you will find it under Sant ji's name.
