The wedding has just been mentioned in the 11.00 News bulletin, it is going to be covered in the 12.30 main News report and it was said that Nihal is going to cover this topic today.

What a complete shower of a mess. Benti, if you can't articulate yourself in a calm and clear manner without making yourself and the faith look pathetic, please refrain from participating in any discussions in the public arena.

Typical BBC only getting well-spoken coconuts on the air (who are defending the couple), whilst the people who are pro-Akal Takhat Maryada haven't got a clue how to express themselves. One Singh was on the verge of tears when he was talking and he kept repeating the same word over and over again.

I'm on hold but they keep bypassing me for either aforementioned supporters of the girl's family or rough-around-the-edges Singhs who keep digging themselves into holes.

raas man, WHY WHY WHY is it that 80% of our janani callers have no clue about r faith on bbc asian network? they always ring up n start making up their rules. Respect to the muslims who txt in saying they agree with akal takht. respect to the few apni women who did fone up n say the truth, that women, millie (i think) needed a slap, BIGTIME, HOW DARE she come on the radio n openly say Guru Nanak was a hindu, and then say crap like how r gurus wudda accepted the nigerian christian with open arms. Also HOW MANY times was that crap argument of "the gurdwara has 4 doors, n any1 can come in...." brought up? Wat the heck has that gotta do with getting married in front of our Guru? If an irishman comes in gurdwara, we wud have no objection, but if he busts open a cigarette n smokes, would we sit there n say, "the gurdwara has 4 doors, n any1 can come in...."? Same applies to ppl wantin 2 get married in Gurdwara.

Nuff respect to the ppl who rang in and spoke the truth, i sent an email/txt in, but wasnt read out, not suprised, since it was a sensitive subject.

I managed to get on towards the end. Any feed back on what i said would be appreciated. I focused on being moderate but yet again sticking to Akal Takht Rehyt Maryada.

from Bedford bro. Made the closing statement that : " it's very black and white, there are no grey areas". The Hukhunama WAS Stuck to the wall in the gurdwara in clear view. It is not the committees decision or anyones personal opinion if this wedding should place. Especially within Gurdware it is key that we adhere to the Hukhunama released by Akal Takht. To be diplomatic i said we do not oppose the marraige but just oppose it taking place in the gurdwara.

Same here, I'm not trying to be an egotistical pain, but it really drives me nuts when dimwits who can't articulate themselves and convey a message in a civilized manner play off what they're trying to say as dogmatic garbage when it clearly isn't.
