KFC are introducing halal chicken in some of their restaurants to placate the local muslims. If you wish to make a comment please do so on this page. keep it clean and rational and no use of the word p%~# as they will take no notice of any offensive comments. Pass it on to as many people as you can and boycott KFC until they stop this medieval nonsense.

The stores taking part in the trial are:

Lea Bridge Road - E10 7DN

Beckton - E6 4LG

Edmonton - N18 2XA

Hounslow West - TW4 7DJ

Upton Park - E13 0AR

Forest Gate - E7 8BA

Bethnal Green - E2 0AH

Tottenham Hale - N17 9FR

:hmm:

What about Birmingham?

It's a business decision. All of those Chicken Cottage type places you see in shitholes were set up for that reason. :FACT

The move follows a similar decision made by Dominos Pizza, which launched a halal-only menu in its Hall Green store in Birmingham earlier this year.

The new menu will be available in areas of London with large Muslim populations including East End districts Forest Gate, Beckton, West Ham and Bethnal Green. The eight outlets, which also include stores in Tottenham, nearby Edmonton, Leyton and Hounslow, will run the scheme as a trial throughout the summer.

The trial will be assessed after a few months and if sales figures are high could take place in other stores in the UK where large numbers of Muslim customers are based and where there is demand.

Halal means any item on the menu which may contain bacon, ham or pork must be removed and all the chicken must by halal-approved. Under the rules, the animal must be killed by having its throat cut by a Muslim and any flowing blood of the carcass should be completely drained. All this must be done while the animal is still alive and without any pre-stunning, as is the civilised norm in the Western world.

Fordcapri has made a valuable point, Halal meat is forbidden in the Sikh Faith.

I don't tend to eat fast food due to health reasons and PETA (animal welfare organisation) has condemned the suffering of animals destined for KFC.

I am ashamed of the way certain Sikh Sangat members criticise other Sikhs when someone posts a topic. Rather than trying to understand and support fellow Sikhs negativity is spouted.

Guru Nanak was a revolutionary he did not eat meat, drink alcohol, he did not believe in the caste system, he had faith in one God. If Sikhism was to start today the biggest critics of him would be yourselves!

  • 1 year later...

Killing of an animal is completely prohibited in Sikhism - whether it is Halaal Or Jhatka.

For cultures/religions/countries who want to eat meat, they see Jhatka as the most humane way of killing the animal (for cultures and socities who eat meat) and that's the way even Western World does it compared to Halaal which is torturing the animal by giving the animal untolerable pains, thus the most inhumane way of killing animals. So, it is not Halaal - basically it is Haraam.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
