The Council of Sikh Gurdwaras in Birmingham and Sandwell marks this religious and festive period every year, holding the largest Vaisakhi Open Air Celebration outside India, attracting over 80,000 people.

This year these Celebrations will be taking place on the Sunday 25th April 2010

There will be two Nagar Kirtans at the same time from different parts of the City. Both Processions will start at 10am and finish at Handsworth Park where Open Air Celebrations will take place till 6pm.

Nagar Kirtan A :Start- Ramgarhia Sikh Temple, Graham Street--> Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha Soho Rd-->Guru Ravidas Bhawan Grove Lane, Birmingham -Finish- Handsworth Park at 12pm

Nagar Kirtan B:Start- Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick, High St, Smethwick--> Gurdwara Baba Deep Singh ji Shaheed Holyhead Rd--> Gurdwara Bebe Nanaki Ji Rookery Rd - Finsih- Handsworth Park at 1pm

This is a family event with Darbar Sahib, Langar, Live Performances, Exhibitions, Youth Area, Bazaar Stalls and entertainment aimed at all ages.

Especially this year, we will have a Farm Area for youngsters who can pet and feed Farm Animals aswell as take Pony/Donkey Rides.

Of course...don't worry, this isn't a desi planning job. Everything has been taken into consideration.
