I was listening to Gianni Thakur Singh jis Katha and they mentioned that anand sahib bani has an amazing anand to it if it is sung.

Does anyone have a version of this paat which is being sung? Not just the 6 pauria. The full version.

Maybe if baru sahib have uploaded their anahad bani of this on the net?

I found the above about a couple of months ago and can't stop listening to it. Sooo much ras! You could you use the various tools out there to convert the video to mp3.

The video above is class. First time I've heard Anand Sahib recited in such a way. I've heard the standard Anand Sahib at the end of a diwaan or programme (i.e. when everyone bombards the stage with their pound coins, lol) but this is something else.

You never heard Anand Sahib being sung in Ramkali raag? This is what is called nirdharat kirtan, kirtan that is sung in the raag prescribed by Guru Sahib. This is as close as we can get to singing Gurbani as Guru Sahib intended it. If Kirtan is done in nirdharat raag AND with tanti saaj (stringed intruments) then the its just WOW!

Look up kirtanis like Bhai Avtaar Singh, Bhai Nirmal Singh, Bhai Gurmeet Singh Shaant, Dr. Gurnam Singh, Bhai Balbir Singh :) Specifically, Bhai Avtaar Singh Jee, who is part of a lineage which has been doing gurmat kirtan from when Guru Sahib Jee were in human form. They are with us no more but their son carries on. They do kirtan in redentions which were the norm back then but have since been lost. One such redentions is below for everyone's enjoyment :) It's sung in partaal which means it's sung in multiple taals.

I apologize for going off topic.

Your Glance of Grace is on all, O God. Upon some it is bestowed less, and upon others it is bestowed more. Without You, nothing happens at all; through the Guru, such understanding is obtained. ||3||

@ HSDH - I thought the raag aspect of Kirtan was a dying art. It was only since I discovered YouTube videos of Sikhs performng in that style have I realised it's thriving. I should expand my horizons. :biggrin2:

Singh, could you give me some links to the most accomplished nirdharat kirtan, either mp3 shabads on YouTube or live videos? I find this kind of kirtan to be very soothing. It reminds me of Asa Di Waar by Bhai Surjan Singh. That's in the proper raag isn't it?
