Ive noticed alot when a upcoming rainsabhai comes up the other sikhs ask me at school 'hey are u coming rainsbhai' and im like yes of course but when they mean if im coming they mean to hang out at the gurudwara!?

I always see youth my age hanging around the gurudwara, on their phones, psp whatever. Everytime I go im normally the only kid my age actually who sits in the Darbar sahib without running to the langar straight after matha tekh.

I also noticed tht kids are obsessed with AKj because they think its cool to bash the table and make 'bird noises' as they call it while saying waheguru!!

am I the only one who is like this??

thanks. :)

they do seem to have a cultish behaviour not like normal Sikhs and the youth are very westernized into girlfriends and that.  They also deem Rag Mala to be falsely appropriated to the Guru Granth Sahib, but generally they are panthic jathebandi doing samagams and seva.  I think their current jatherdar is Balbir Singh he is an amazing guy with so much seva to Jujharoo Khalsa

agreed. I know so many young sikhs like myself who wear dumalle and they go round dating girls and they are proud to call themselves a 'playa' . some are even amritdhari!! they are always at rainsabhais messing around in the spare halls and stuff.

This is not an AKJ problem (I don't know why people on this site love to bash AKJ any chance they get), but is rather a youth problem. But why blame the youth when adults do it as well.

It's not just Rainsbhai Keertans.

So called "Anand Karajs", Akhand Paaths, Sehaj Paaths, Sukhmani Sahib, birthday Paath, you name it. Going to the Gurdwara or someone's house has become a ritual and just a show.

Majority of people coming during Anand Sahib..even during Ardas and after Hukamnama. And then just eat langar and socialize before, during and after.

There is no spirituality left to it anymore. And with the missionary mentality, it's not going to get any better. Missionaries have made Sikhi into a human rights organization and removed the spirituality from it. There is less and less respect for Guru Granth Sahib Jee day by day due to missionaries. And also there is less desire to sit in Guru Sahib's Darbaar and go through spiritual experiences. It is all just becoming an empty show with no mental/spiritual advancement taking place.

While saying that, I must also add that I would rather have socializing being done in Gurdwaras rather than clubs, banquet halls, walking around on the streets at night, etc.

But with missionary mentality, soon enough there won't be no need to go to clubs, as Gurdwaras will be serving meat and alcohol somewhere on their properties.
