This is not an AKJ problem (I don't know why people on this site love to bash AKJ any chance they get), but is rather a youth problem. But why blame the youth when adults do it as well.
It's not just Rainsbhai Keertans.
So called "Anand Karajs", Akhand Paaths, Sehaj Paaths, Sukhmani Sahib, birthday Paath, you name it. Going to the Gurdwara or someone's house has become a ritual and just a show.
Majority of people coming during Anand Sahib..even during Ardas and after Hukamnama. And then just eat langar and socialize before, during and after.
There is no spirituality left to it anymore. And with the missionary mentality, it's not going to get any better. Missionaries have made Sikhi into a human rights organization and removed the spirituality from it. There is less and less respect for Guru Granth Sahib Jee day by day due to missionaries. And also there is less desire to sit in Guru Sahib's Darbaar and go through spiritual experiences. It is all just becoming an empty show with no mental/spiritual advancement taking place.
While saying that, I must also add that I would rather have socializing being done in Gurdwaras rather than clubs, banquet halls, walking around on the streets at night, etc.
But with missionary mentality, soon enough there won't be no need to go to clubs, as Gurdwaras will be serving meat and alcohol somewhere on their properties.
