Vaheguroo Ji Ka Khalsa VAheguroo Ji Ki Fateh.

I'm looking looking for answers but would appreciate sangat's views. I'm an Amritdhaari and thinking of becoming a vegan. On a journey home from work it just hit me how much sense it makes to become vegans, and that it's still disturbing that we are still using animal products as vegetarians. So this is something (Guroo Kirpa) I 100% see my self doing in the future.

My only concern is what about at the Gurdwara and stuff? I doubt many Gurdware have vegan friendly Degh and langar and stuff. Should I not accept Degh?

Views please.

Vaheguroo.

Why not raise your own cattle if you are so concerned.

What kind of cars do you drive? Do you know how much pollution is created by farming your veg and fruit at the mass scale it is done today.

Do you know the farming employees are put at risk and are paid very little to grow your veg and fruits.

It is good that people are waking up to the treatment of farm animals. However dont turn a blind eye to the poor farm employee who will get cancer by picking your fruit and veg because he or the 5 year old child is not given proper protection from the toxic chemicals applied to plants.

Not all fruit and veg farmers are the same. Same goes for cattle farmers that produce milk.

Food is not important, NAAM is !

ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਕੀਏ ॥

Karam Dhharam Prabh Maerai Keeeae ||

करम धरम प्रभि मेरै कीए ॥

My God created religious rituals.

-_-

Why Sikhs ignore the horrific treatment of animals for dairy, I don't know. Move with the times, would the Guru support the dairy industry today people?

Good on you OP, encourage others too. I don't know about degh, personally I would take it and do ardaas that it was okay to do so.

Vaheguroo.

Some very interesting replies.

Barinder Singh - I drive a nice eco friendly car that doesn't create alot of pollution - thanks for asking. I see where you are coming from. I try to grow my own fruit when I can and like to go picking apples and stuff. I'm really just trying to do as least damage to everyone as possible lol.

Questioner - I totally agree that Guroo Sahib would probably want everyone to be vegan now. If I take degh isn't that being a part time vegan? I know Gursikhs that use vegan products and replacements in Degh - the taste is immense. But nowadays it's just random people at the Gurdwara who dont read Bani when making Degh - so is it really that bad if I don't take it? I've got far worse things to worry about in my jeevan rather than not taking a piece of degh.

Veer barinder singh you can not be more misinformed , you know jover 80% of fertile land in North America is used for crops that directly go into feeding factory farm live stock - the crops are soy and corn

We will employ much less farm workers if the world went vegan ...also will leave lots of forests uncut and be able to reslove food hunger

Also you can wash off fertilizers but what do you do with all the growth hormones , antibiotics and steroids that are in dairy and meat ?

Food is not important, NAAM is !

Roza thare Manave Allho Svadat jee Sanghare

Aapa dekh avar nahi dekhe , kahe ko jakh mare

You observe religious fasting yet you butcher beings to satiate your taste buds

You are concerned about self and not others, why engage in meaningless activities
