Saharanpur, India (July 26, 2014): According to recent reports curfew was imposed in Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) following a clash that broke out between Sikhs and another community over a plot of land belonging to a Gurudwara Sahib. The clash reportedly broke out today following which curfew was clamped in the area.

Exact details of what happened at Saharanpur were not available. Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) tried to reach out some local sources but they were not available. Whatever details are available in Indian media are confusing as these news reports did not identify the “communities” that “clashed” with each other. Moreover there were not sufficient details as to that triggered that clash.

Saharanpur Incident

According to the police the situation went out of control as members from both the communities started pelting stones at each other and set several shops and vehicles on fire.

Heavy contingent of police force, led by senior officials, reached the spot to bring the situation under control. The police used tear gas shells to quell the irate mob from both the sides. Later, Section 144 had been imposed in the city.

According to Indian media reports said a land, adjacent to Gurudwara, was seized by another community that hurt the sentiment of people from the other group. The differences further worsened after a local court delivered its verdict in favour of one particular community upsetting the other.

So what is the name of the other community?

Muslim

Clash was over piece of land which was in between Gurdwara and Masjid. Both sikhs and muslims had registry for land. Local court gave verdict in favor of sikhs and sikhs started construction of Gurdwara.

Large numbers of muslims attacked sikhs at Gurdwara construction site.

Riot was initiated by muslims and many sikhs have been injured

Many shops and vehicles of sikhs and hindus have been burnt

4 people died acc to Sikh Channel.

Also, saharanpur is muslim dominant area

Quite common for Indian media to mention the muslim community as the "other community" , just like the word "Asian" is used by British media to mean muslims.

I remember a few months ago tribune India mentioned a clash between Hindus and Muslims because a Muslim burnt a Hindu child. But Tribune India refered to the Muslims as 'other community.'

Yet, when a person belonging to the Sikh background does a crime they mention the term "Sikh".

What is interesting is that during Ramadhan, Muslims are not supposed to do these things as Ramadan is a " time of reflection" and "spiritual growth". What a load of codswallop.

Yeah. Ramzan is suppose to be a time of reflection where Muslims try their best to not do sin. But the UP ones have forgotten that so much that they have no problem rioting and killing.

That's why I questioned on another thread of why our people feel this strange mysterious urge to get involved in 2002 riots which has NOTHING to do with us and NEITHER will getting involved earn us brownie points from Indian Muslims side who have now rioted and killed Sikhs.
