I'm Meditating, How Much Further?

Hi. I've been meditating steadily for a year and a half. The past few months Ive made sure to recite naam out loud. That's had an effect. I feel some sensations, more than I did when I prayed in silence.

I'm praying so I can have a free mind and spirit. How long does that take? Is it possible that destiny will take charge and bring people and opportunities to me? I have a feeling I won't be free unless I have a kundalini awakening. That may take forever, so I'm stuck until then.

PS - Does going to concerts help the wave inside going? I'm thinking about going if it can move me forward.

Thanks

We're already free, no one can take our freedom/Truth away from us try as they may.

We just need to recognise and realise this by having respect for Truth gyan taught to us in Gurbani. Living forever in Nirboah and Nirvair, recognising God in everything, in every action and loving Him regardless the costume he wears should be the constant throughout your path. When u lose sight of these, you lose the path.

There is no end to the path, it is truly endless- He keeps creating and giving and his bhagats keep learning and discovering so don't look for an end game, just learn in each and every precious moment and keep climbing in the ranks. Don't Lie,Don't SLANDER! High level bhagats encounter So much Slander and yet sikhs still seem to think this is acceptable even in the Gurdwarra. It's a huge problem amongst sikhs and they don't seem to understand that when they do it, they actually give all of their Bhagti and blessings to the one they've slandered. When someone begins to be truly good and emit Jyot, darker beings(mayadharis) have a habit of barking nindya about them in jealousy and lust. Some bhagats laugh it off in recognition of what it Really is.

The reality is that if a Sikh Slanders, then he is not a Sikh at all as it is a huge crime in the higher realms.

Silence the mind n the 5 thieves, practice Gurbani and good deeds. When we fall into the 5 thieves whether it's attaching yourself to your family, your possessions, or reacting in anger to a fool, we fall off the path. So to keep climbing the seva needs to be constant- Truthful living is the way- learn as u eat sleep, work, are on holiday etc- still Live, because that's why we were born- but Live Truthfully- beyond the 5 thieves and you'll learn more and more.

Most people don't really live, they waste their lives running around with the 5 thieves running rampant, attached to others, jealous of others, ghosts being attached to them leaching off them, angry at others and lusting after random people- not truly experiencing life.

This earth is actually a paradise- it's really just people and their psychologies that make this age Kalyug- the age of hell on earth. So u can live heaven on earth yourself by living Truth beyond the cr*p.

Do amrit vela naam simran and keep up the Truth practice and what u have learned in your samadhi during the day.

Satnaam God bless you.

Well I will continue to pray more. Yes, reciting mood mantr is a good addition for me.

I always live right. I believe in good principles, so being a good person in my daily life is not a challenge.

I'm in 30s now. I prayed a lot when i was young, everyday. I did a lot of naam simian in my 20s for a period. So my whole life praying has done nothing for me. No direction, no sangat, no opportunities. How can this be? Either prayer and faith have no value, or I need a better regimen. I can't believe how many people including me don't know how to make their prayers work. Sitting on the ground and reciting verbally is the only way.

So I've gone on in age and did a lot of praying and am empty handed. That's why I'm eager to make a move forward. That's why I need to wonder how far I've progressed.

Prayer, you say :

I always live right , I believe in good principles , so being a good person in my daily life is not a challenge.

I read a lot of "I" here. I do this, I do that, I believe this . You need to let go of your ego. Be the lowest of the low, let go of yourself. You can pray all your life, do naam all your life but if it is done on hunkaar then you gained nothing. You say you prayed a lot, how much is a lot? 5 hours a day? 7 hours a day? This is not the route. You can remember Guru Ji just for 5 mins and if that 5 mins are totally devoted to Guru Ji, if the that 5 mins are totally and utterly in Guru Jis charan then that 5 mins is worth a whole lifetime.

So, your whole life has been praying and it has done nothing for you ? How presumptuous of you. How do you know it has done nothing for you? Because you don't have a Jaguar Car? because you don't have a 5 bedroom house? because you don't have a successful business? Is this how you are measuring your praying?

You say "either prayer and faith have no value" - what value are you putting on them? That you are revered by your colleagues? that you have 10 pound notes coming out of your ears? is this your measure if prayer? It seems to me you have prayed all your life but learnt nothing.

Don't be eager, don't feel the need to push forward, leave it all to Guru Ji. Leave all your faith at Guru Jis charan. Submit to Him and nothing else.

Find out by deep inquiry while in deep prayer-infuse the innocent question like an innocent baby -when you were baby- completely novice curious soul with that kind of pure innocence, unconditioned mind without preconceived notion, preconditioning- infuse the innocent question in your deep prayer- who is the mediator?

This inquiry its not matter of abstract/conceptually asking the question- remember innocent baby does not know how to see things or put things conceptually but our innocence as baby as curious soul knows only to feel the question. With that innocence and feeling- throw the question out to divine without words but with feeling- who is mediator? when divine answers back at that moment there won't be questions at all, you feel the answer. But unfortunately for most of us this feeling of answer from divine does not last that long because our conceptual mind will kick in again and take control- take center stage.

Thats why vichar- deep inquiry is quite important as well include into prayer and mediation, also incorporate vichar as well in your daily sadhana.

Here is beautiful akaal ustat questions/riddles by sri guru gobind singh ji maharaj to his sikhs:

Good post

Even when we have everything, we should always have poverty of the heart- it is only when we commit ourselves to be nothing, to accept that All always belongs to Him- that we are able to really rise above the Maya.

Truth is Nothing, and is everything. When u live in Truth u are wealthy beyond measure, that's why Kings have forsaken the wealth of entire kingdoms and given away All of their wealth for it- for as Jesus says, of what use is it for a man to gain the entire world but lose his soul?

Buddha said- To live a pure unselfish life, one must count nothing as one's own in the midst of abundance.

Wealthy people commit suicide, famous people become drug addicts, the Rihannas and Jay z's of the world are hounded and stalked by the media constantly and live in fear of being attacked, kidnapped, killed etc. Wealthy people are kidnapped and robbed, many millions of mayadharis have ghosts which walk around with them and leech off them, are harassed by demons while awake and asleep.

We just have what He gives us, all we can do is put effort in and be good. Your Bhagti Will pay off, we Always get paid for our service but u may not realise that spirituality and climbing the ranks of Truth may be your gift.

When u practice Truth and are good, your frequency goes up. When u walk outside, look at the other mayadharis and try and see what their frequencies are like. Truth frequency is a divine incomparable nasha, the Gurus speak of drinking in the amrit from the tenth gate, the Trikurti( the balance between dark n light, positive and negative, Ida and pingala). Try and remain in the balance, the balance is Truth- it's the Nothingness/silence which is our true Nature.

Do it while you're walking, working, get your chakras of amrit spinning- spirituality is a boon bestowed on us to live life detached from the foolishness in the khel. It is the incomparable priceless diamond of our existence, Maya is a mere shell. Living a spiritual truthful life is the greatest deed in this janam- and we are able to enjoy life fully without insecurities and fear that the rest of the entire world suffers from. Many Billionaires and celebrities turn to spirituality because they can't fill the void they have with material wealth and worldly pleasures.

Our greatest gift is Truth.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
