"Please attend with you friends and family" :nono:

I don't think I've ever read an English language leaflet, poster or phamplet written by British Punjabis that does not contain spelling and grammar errors.

By far the worst I've ever read was an advert in Des Pardes by the organisers of the Cranford Mela in west London a few years ago. In the advert they said "bring all your families". What does that even mean ? How many different families is one man supposed to have. A man should simply be told to bring his family. But that wasn't the worst of the advert. This mela was so rubbish that even the organisers couldn't bring themseves to praise it too much. They described the mela as "one of the best melas in Cranford". One of the best ??? :wow: Everyone knows that Cranford is a very small area and the Cranford mela is the only mela in Cranford but even though it was the only mela they couldn't bring themsleves to describe it as the best one. :nono: Thats how rubbish it was.

Anyway, back to the topic. Now thats what I like about both Gravesend and Southampton. In these 2 towns during Basakhi the Mayor and city hall officialy acknowledge the supremacy of the Nishan sahib by having an official ceremony whereby the British Flag (Union Jack) is lowered and taken down and the Nishan sahib flies in its place at City Hall.

My previous message got lost so I'll repeat it again. In Gravesend and Southampton the Mayor and city fathers recognise the supremacy of the Nishan sahib and so lower and discard the nation;s flag and fly the Nishan Sahib instead at city hall for the day (Basakhi).

Now, I'm not talking about equality. Equality means the Union Jack, the Stars and Stripes, the Maple Leaf or the Indian tri-colour flying side by side with the Nishan Sahib. This, goes beyind that. In Gravesend and Southampton the Sikhs have ensured the city recognise the supremacy of the Khanda.

If any of you know where that is the case in any other city on earth other than Gravesend and Southamptom now is the time to speak..............
