The irony is that the US is not dependent on the gas and oil from the middle east, most of theirs come from Canada, Mexico and whatever reserves they have in the US from their own fracking exploits.

The only country I can see that is benefiting from all this instability is Israel.

Hezbollah is distracted by ISIS in Syria which gives Israel a breather on it's northern borders. I have heard about the deposits in Golant Heights amongst other resources.

With all the problems in Syria and Iraq, they may need to partition the country and it would suit Israel ' s purpose to either expand their territory or to at least create some buffer state.

The problem with the West is they think democracy works in the middle east. The Muslim countries do not respond to democracy, they tend to respond very well to a strong man who beats down any dissent.
