I came across this website which states that Sikh Gurus believe in Vedas. I cannot find the interpretations of the shabads in relation to it's comments. http://agniveer.com/sikh-gurus-and-vedas/ On the other hand I came across this booklet which says Sikh Gurus did not believe in Vedas. http://agniveer.com/sikh-gurus-and-vedas/ Can anyone explain what Guru Sahibaans take on Vedas was and why there are pro-Veda shabds and anti-Veda shabds in Gurbani? And how would you refute someone saying Sikh is a branch of Vedic dharam?

Is time relative in Sikhi? Are souls born in different yugs/civilizations according to their karma? I would think so but never really thought about it...

I remember a sakhi which I heard on those dharmic cassette tapes from back then. This is from around 2001/2002. So I was a kid and dnt remember all of it. I think it was set around the time of either Guru Ram Das ji or Guru Arjan Dev Ji. It was about an old man who couldn't walk or function much and he would lay on the manjha all day, coughing. He would constantly tell his son and daughter in-law to help him and do this for him and do that for him e.g. His son and daughter in-law got fed up of him and started deciding what to do with him. The son then decided to throw him into a river and get rid of him once and for all. As he was old and sick he wouldn't be …

Got this from Wikipedia. I am preety sure Sharda Pooran Granth was not recited by Guru Ji it was written by Bhai Mani Singh Ji. No. Bani Title Alternate Name Description 1 Mahalla Dasven This is a composition of two letters, one by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and one by Guru Gobind Singh ji. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji writes- My strength is exhausted, and I am in bondage; I cannot do anything at all. Says Nanak, now, the Lord is my Support; He will help me, as He did the elephant. My strength has been restored, and my bonds ha…

Give examples of how our Gurus served and exemplified justice, humanity and ethics ... 3 examples with Guru Gobind Singh ji A Mughal emperor, I think it was the son or grandson of Aurangzeb, he was the heir apparent to the throne but his younger brother sat on the throne instead. The Mughal then approached Guru ji and asked for assistance, Guru Ji recognized that its the older brother who has the right to sit on the throne, not the younger, Guru Ji sent some Singh's into battle and they won. The older brother then sat on the throne. In India and most other cultures it was the right of the older brother to sit on the throne, e'g Mahabharat, Vali & Sugriv from…

I will be posting the Upishands in English (Sorry if this is in the wrong section) Even though they are not Sikh texts they have lots of Gian and should be studied by Sikhs. In Sant Gurbachn Singh Ji's Teeka of Japji Sahib he quotes them quite often as they are very important for Sikhs. To fully understand the Tika you must read the Upishands. This will not be a Tika just basic Translations. I am mainly making this so we can deepen our understanding of Gurbani. Adhyatma Part 1 (NOT MY TRANSLATIONS PLEASE DON'T THINK IT IS MINE OR PRAISE ME FOR THIS PLEASE) In the cave of the body is eternally set the one unborn. The earth is His body. (Though) moving …

Translations were done Lala Sreeram. I will copy word by word what he wrote as it is so beautiful. Preface and Introduction Part 1 PREFACE A worm that is already well-known needs no word of commendation. It has made it’s way in the outlying districts of the Punjab, and every Sadhu who knows to read and write receives instruction from his Guru, on this very work, so that by perusing it, he learns all that is worth knowing of the Upanishads. It embodies a mass of instruction which cannot be otherwise had, unless a large number of original works difficult to understand, and requiring the life-time of an individual, are gone through, It is the only work of its kin…

I was shocked to read that Prof. Gurmukh Singh of the Singh Sabha movement was excommunicated in 1887, because of his sacriligeous activities which where disrespect toward Guru-Ansh giving baptism to low castes and other activitties. The mata excommunicting Prof. Gurmukh Singh passed in March 18, 1887 said that Bhia Sahib showed disrespect to Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and tells that no one should associate with him or help him otherwise he will also be punished with the same treatment. My question is why would they excommunicate a person who was doing really good work for the panth so where all these activities just made up to make Bhia Sahib look bad. Also why did it ta…

According to Guru Nanak Ji to a peer, "Hell and Heaven is a state of mind. Not a Geographic location." SGGS states "Jamdoot come and beat up paapis/ Nirguras. Wine and fish eaters go to hell" etc. Also, hell is fire Heaven is freedom, joy, Sukhi saans. My opinions. Apparently, God is also known as "Upperwale" (Being up there). So if Heaven is up and hell is down (according to tradition) we need to think, what is up? Space, stars! No gravity. Sounds like all the good / religious folks do become stars after death! Of course not the case but what else is up? Now, lets focus on down... Core of the Earth, Heat! Lava! Hot n scary items. Interestingly we humans…

I will be reading panth parkash by Rattan singh Bhangu and summarizing what I have read here. To keep myself accountable. All comments, suggestions, analysis welcome. The version im reading has the teeka/ exegesis done by singh sahib Baba Sant Singh Akali, who used to be jathedaar of Budha dal. To be honest, its a written version of his katha recordings. When i am reading it feels like listening to katha too. Although Panth Patkash is written in understandable panjabi, but i still read the teeka part. So far it starts off with how a Maratha King had hired a firangii (frenchmen) names Deloney to protect his borders. The frenchmen wants to retire and go back to …
