Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Pyaari saadh sangat ji - The Ragi singh at our Gurdwara always has a theme every week - last week it was "Lord as Protector" There were two shabads of Kabir sahib "Ganga Kinare Meri Tooti Zanjeer - Mrigshala par baithay Kabir" and "Prabh Khamb te Niksay Kai Bisthaar, Harnakash chediyo nakh beedaar" and the couplet from Salok Mehalla 9 "Bal Shutkiyo Bandhaan Paray - Kachoo Na hoth upaay Kaho Nanak ab oat har - gaj tio hoh saha-ae" On the way home my 12 year old son asked - "But then Papa - what happened with Guru Arjan, Guru Tegh Bahadur and Banda Bahadur? - why were they not g…

So... I'm supposed to do a reading for our high school baccalaureate ceremony tomorrow and the theme is "Love Thy Neighbor." I've been looking for something related to brotherhood, because I'm sure "Love Thy Neighbor" isn't a major idea in any shabad, but I'm having trouble on my own. Anyone have any ideas for the theme of brotherhood, or any other theme I may be able to pull off? Thanks so much in advance!!

I thought beauty was a picture on a fashion magazine, That was before I opened my eyes to see what I had seen, She sat in balance, her aura serene, Her head covered in a blue turban the rest of her attire cream, I could not help looking; her presence was divine, The definition of beauty had changed in my mind, Then a sharp reflection hit me in my eyes, It was the steel dagger that she wore by her side, Her face was radiant her eyes held truth This was the meaning of beauty I needed no more proof, Then she sang the most divine song, I thought there was a limit to beauty, oh! How I was wrong, Her voice pierced my heart like an arrow, I felt my spirit rise to a …

Has anyone heard of this book. Namdharis claim that this book totaly disprove of the fact that gurgaddi was given to Guru Granth Sahib and other nonsence they make up. The namdhari sikh wrote 1 Also let me make it very clear to you, I've contacted at least a dozen singh sabhia organizations until today including the SGPC and NONE OF THEM HAS BEEN ABLE TO SHOW ME EVEN A SINGLE BOOK WRITTEN AND PUBLISHED BEFORE THE 1860'S THAT SAID AAD GRANTH SAHIB WAS GIVEN GURGADDI. 2 he also claims that the Your singh sabhia scholars can only make up stories that it was lost to the muslims during the holocausts. Well pardon me but where did it stay from 1708 to the 1730's? Where ev…

Sat Sri Akal Everyone, This is my first post on this website. I come here with an open mind that is hungry for vayakaya and knowledge. NEO Singh's knowledge is commendable and he is one of the reasons I joined this website. I understand that the word RAM is used in Gurbani to refer to Akal Purakh/Parmeshwar/Sadashiv etc. (obviously unless Guru Sahib is talking about Ram, son of Raja Dasrath). However, the term Raghunath is something that creates confusion. This term is explicitly used only for Ram Chander. Murari is used only for Killer of Mur Rakshas. So someone please explain this to me without creating their own metaphors and allegories that the Gurus did not use th…

Fateh! Gurbani tells us to "remain dead while yet alive", but what exactly does it mean? ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥ Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, remain dead while yet alive, and the Name of the Lord shall come to dwell within the mind. ||1|| Ang 33 ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰ ॥ So abandon your selfishness, and remain dead while yet alive. Contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad. Ang 34 ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰਹਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੩॥ Remain dead while yet alive, and you shall be welcomed in the Court of the Lord. Ang 176

This is a moving email which I was forwarded by a friend. Reading it I was saying to myself, "I hope this is not true!" It has a powerful message, which hopefully everyone should get by the end of reading the story. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Story from Seoul: Author: Anonymous My mom only had one eye. I hated her... she was such an embarrassment. My mom ran a small shop at a flea market. She collected little weeds and such to sell... anything for the money we needed, she was such an embarrassment. There was this one day during elementary school. I remember that it was field da…
