Some nice contemporary art. It's like a blend of comic book art and traditional Indian art.

WKKF. I was recently told of an account where Guru Gobind SIngh apparently boiled alive some Mahants, killing them in this manner. I am aware that Guru Ji banned Mahants etc, however find it hard to believe that Guru Ji would torture to death anyone in such a cruel and barbaric manner. Having researched it slightly I have found no solid proof that this ever occurred, and in fact it clearly conflicts with Gurbani which speaks of the complete, merciful Guru etc. Does anyone have any genuine evidence (verified factual account or bani) that confirms if Guru Ji did infact do this act? If not as with everything the testing stone for me anyway will be Gurbani itself. WKWF

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Ji, I was just wondering what is the significance of lighting a joth(like with melted butter and a cotton wick) and doof (incense, black stuff, rolled into balls that lets of smoke and smells nice ) at home in sikhi? Any sakhi's, or gurbani quotes, or any reasoning behind it?

When I met my fiance first time in India this summer, she touched the topic on Amrit. She isn't Amritdhari herself. This was our 1st meeting. I made it clear to her, if you wish to take Amrit or not it up to you. Nobody will force you before/ after marriage. That put her at ease. Now, I am about to tell you why you should never ever ever force anyone into taking Amrit. Do I mean putting them at gunpoint? No. I'm talking about nagging them! Everytime u see/ meet that one or two persons you mite say silly things like "Why aren't u Anritdhari? Your parents are? You hubby/ wife is...?" First of all, EVERYONE knows about Amrit lol. Trust... EVERYONE! Nothing is being hidd…

vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh sangat ji, With great effort, we have finished writing an account of the daily life and lifestyle of Humble Sevaks at the Guru's Dharamshalas 500-300 years ago. Many people assume that it must have been like how their grandparents lived in rural Punjab, or like it is at a Nihang Dera, but this is not the case. It was different to contemporary Punjabi/North Indian culture. Everything was completely different: the way of life, the Soch, sanskar and material culture. People lived communally and self-sufficiently. Everything had a sacred function. The food and medicine was different. The ceremonies and rites were different. Even…

The Forgotten Babbars Babbar Akali (Babbars) movement (1921-1925) By Harinder Singh Babbar Akali (Babbars) movement (1921-1925) was a radical outgrowth of the Akali movement for the reform of Gurduaras. The latter practiced non-violence of the strong to free Gurduaras from state-sponsored “priests” suffering physical injury and violence at the hands of the “priests” and government authority. Many Sikhs lost their lives at the Tarn Taran (Jan 1921) and Nankana Sahib (Feb 1921) incidents. In response emerged a secret group called Babbar Akalis, literally Immortal Lions. The secret campaign for the "reformation…

Hey everyone, I'm new to this site and this is my first post. I recently got into Sikhi and for the last 4 months, I have been so into reading history and prayer as well. What I don't understand is different websites. Panj bani paath is what I don't understand. Are the five...3 in morning 1 evening 1 at night. Or is there 5 in the morning and then 1 in evening and 1 at night. 2 or 3 websites contradict each other. Which ones do we have to read. I'm so confused. Please don't laugh or judge me. What are the 5 and when do you do them? Some say 3 in morning and some say 5. Is 5 all in morning or are the 5 altogether in total throughout the day? …
