"Freedom had been hunted round the globe; reason was considered as rebellion; and the slavery of fear had made men afraid to think. But such is the irresistible nature of truth, that all it asks, and all it wants, is the liberty of appearing." (Thomas Paine, The Rights of Man, 1791) "Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God." (Benjamin Frankin, 1776) "If we wish to be free; if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending; if we mean not basely to abandon …

Hey Guys, I posted this in the general forum but thought I would post it here as well since this ring is inspirational to me. It reminds me of my grandfather and grandmother who are both very inspirational . My grandfather lived in India for quite some time in Madras, Mysore, and Bangalore. When he arrived in the 1940's the first thing he bought was this ring. He has no idea what the meaning is, and after asking many people one Sikh lady told me she thinks it might be close to the Ik Onkar and mentioned something about a word tghat sounded like "kay-dar" or "key-dar," Not really sure.

Any help would mean a lot. He met my grandmother short after and sa…

Gursikh Women Martyrs of the Battle of Anandpur Sahib Translated by Baldev Singh from "Adarshak Singhnia" by Karam Singh It is said that whenever any of the Rajput fort was about to be captured, all women would commit themselves to sati (burn themselves in fire), in order to protect their honor. Although, GurSikh women faced a similar situation, they did not choose sati as a way out. Why not? They had partaken Guru's amrit. They were daughters of Kalgidhar patshah. They were lionesses. Why would they submit to sati? Why wouldn't they challenge the enemy and die fighting in the battlefield? The remaining GurSikh men asked them, "sisters the delicate time is upon us. Wh…

Bhai Bagga Singh & The Horse Thief By Bhai Veer Singh in Khalsa Samachar Bhai Bagga Singh was riding on his horse one day when he say that on the road was a man walking very slowly, holding his back with both his hands. The man called out to Bhai Bagga Singh, “Brother! I’m very sick and cannot walk. If you would let me ride the horse for a couple of miles, I will be able to go home to my village and you can drop me off there. May God bless you if you help me!” Bhai Bagga Singh felt compassion for the man and got off his horse. He helped the sick man onto the saddle and took the reins in his hands and began to walk along side the horse, leading it forward on the ro…

FATEHNAMA In the name of the Lord who manifests Himself as weapons of war viz the sword, the axe, the arrow, the spear, and the shield The Lord is with the brave warriors who, mounted on their horses, fly through the air The Lord who has bestowed upon you the kingdom has granted me the honour of protecting the faith Where as you are engaged in plunder by deceit and lies, I am on the path of truth and purity The name “ Aurangzeb” does not befit you, since a king who is supposed to bring honour to the throne, will not indulge in deceit Aurangzeb! Your rosary is nothing more than a bundle of beads and thread. With every move of a bead, you entrap others in y…

Sangat Jio, At first, I'm sorry as the whole gurbani should be our favorite but there are some shabads that we like to read, recite, or listen to a lot more often. Please post you favorite here, it would be great if you can post it in Gurmukhi, Punjabi, and English also. An audio recording if you have or know of link to one would also be great. NOTE: Please NO BRAVO's, Just post the Shabad, no praising, matha taking etc.

It is indeed a great shock to learn that Voice of India legend, Ishmeet Singh died last week in the Maldives as he drowned in a swimming pool. Only 19 years old, this Gursikh from Ludhiana became a singing legend when he won the Voice of India championships. When music production companies wanted to sign him on, Ishmeet's first demand was that his first album would be a Shabad Gurbani album. You can download the shabads at the following link: Ishmeet Singh's Gurbani album - Satgur Tumre Kaaj Savaare http://keertan.gurmatchanan.com/keertan/an...re+Kaaj+Savaare
