Is it considered Joota if someone while they are eating and they hand you a roti or something? The reason that I ask is because I was at a Singh's home having dinner and his wife was making fresh Rotis for us. While we were eating she came over and handed a roti to him and then he handed it to me. By the way he is not Amritdhari and I am. Is this considered joota? I've always thought that joota is only when someone takes a bite out of something and then you take a bite out of the same thing. Or I may just be reading too much into this. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!

Sign the petition ! http://www.petitiononline.com/84geno/petition.html To: British Government, EU & United Nations We, the undersigned, state that since 1984, some 180,000 Sikhs (1) have been killed by India’s security forces. We believe that this amounts to genocide on the Sikh community, under the 1948 UN Genocide Convention. Other communities such as the Kashmiris, Nagas, Dalits, Muslims and Assamese have suffered similarly in India, over the same period. We recall the tragic and devastating events of June 1984 in Amritsar, Panjab and of November 1984 in New Delhi. India's whole scale military crackdown in Panjab in June 1984, resulted in the deaths of tens o…

Vaheguroo jee ka khalsa vaheguroo jee kee fateh! As a woman,it is not breaking your Amrit vows to remove facial hairs. - GTKK, Sikhnet Forum so for a man it is? double standards here... A lot of the questions asked at the sikhnet youth forum are questions asked by people who are just getting into sikhi. It's good that they're showing interest, but i find some of teh sikhnet moderators somewhat misleading or even going totally against the sikhi (like the above) ofcourse everyone has their own views of what is gurmat and what is manmat, but things like that are just obvious.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I have been reading about Islam recently. Their concept of Tawheed is very clear cut and simple. The names and attributes of Allah, the unity of His worship and His Lordship. They believe Allah is separate from creation, yet He is close to man, as close as his 'jugular vein'. Every aspect of Islam, from Salah (prayers) to the proofs of Tawheed seems to be very logical and appealing to the mind. Every possible question is answered. I have found this is attractive to those seeking answers because of a restless mind. This is perhaps why many people who have lived life in the very extreme (without spirituality) convert to Islam. T…

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I don't know for some time, I was wondering about the members of SikhSangat that are we all Indians (born in india and/or to indian parents), or we also have people among us from non-indian origin, such as the people who adopted Sikhi, like many Sikhs from the west? I am just asking this becuase I have not talked to any Sikh from the west, even though I see them sometimes. I feel soooo good when I see them and want to know about them. I think it would be soooo good if we have Sikhs from all different backgrounds on this forum. As I said a way back, I like this forum sooooooooooo much. bhul chuk di khima, Jaswant (Singh)

Vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh Came home today and saw my parents watching some punjabi film and just as i walked in there was a scene about how some girl had just stabbed herself because she was about to be physically attacked by some guy. Just wondered what people thought about that? Would most of us condemn somebody who took their own life rather than be molested by another man. I know its a punjabi concept of izzat, but does it exist outside of the eastern world? And also we know that women do get attcked in all parts of the world, and that often you hear that the find it difficult to tell anybody or even report it to the police. Is this even harder f…
