Tarn Taran: Justice denied http://www.outlookindia.com/bullseye.asp?f...odname=20030818 Fourteen people died in the Best Bakery carnage. Twenty-one persons were accused. All were acquitted. The judge who acquitted them blamed the prosecution. Legal pundits ridiculed the judgement. The media exposed how the police suppressed evidence. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) sought a retrial. The media and the nhrc have proved our institutions work and democracy thrives. Right? Wrong. Institutions get tested only when they have to extract accountability from popular icons. After the riots, Narendra Modi is hardly an icon outside Gujarat. How might the performance of…

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! After studying a history of Sheed Bhai Mani Singh, who was a head granthi of Golden Temple and gave his life for Sikhism in 1738 A.D. He was cut limb by limb because he refuse to embrace Islam. In his memory Gurdwara Sheed Ganj Bhai Mani Singh was built in Lahore, but after 1947 it was closed. I looked at a latest picture of this historical Gurdwara and it is in very poor condition and can disapper any time because some local Pakistani resident is using the building for his personal use. I ask all Sikh community to write to Pakistan Gurdwara Parbandak Community and Pakistan Government to save this Sikh Gurdwara b…

Well, its going to be released august 15th (in my area atleast). From what I've heard its not against Sikhs, it shows the harsh reality, and shows what really happened during that year, the director of the movie was on this radio station and he was saying that 15 of his closest friends died in 1984. From his loss, he gained the courage to make this movie, and show what happened, because most of the hindu population didn't know what happened, since they closed all roads and exits, from and to Punjab during a short period of time. I think its good as long as it doesn't open old wounds, because sometimes it hurts even more, when you see images of what happened. :D For t…
