Hi, Ive decided to do a 30 day going sober blog for anyone else out there who has struggled or is struggling with alcohol or drug addiction. The purpose of this blog is to illustrate the sort of pressures I come across and how I deal with them. I am only human and I'm sure I won't deal with certain situations in a good way so I apologise before hand for that. I hope to continue this for longer than 30 days but I'm sure everyone would get bored of reading this is it was a 365 day blog lol I haven't had a drink, smoke or any drugs since new years day but have been ill as well so my Day 1 is going to be 02/01/2016 I hope this is helpful to anyone else battling addiction

So....UK Sikhs. We're a peculiar bunch arne't we ? An unusual bunch in fact. When we go back to Punjab we meet Canadian, American and Australian Sikhs back in the village and the first thing we notice is how proud they are of being Canadian, American and Australian. They proudly display their national flags on their houses, vehicles and clothing and have integrated so well into their home countries that they have reached the very top of society. The Canadian Sikhs especially have adapted so well to that famous American / British hybrid sense of humour that they have reached the very top of that profession too. And then....sadly....there is the UK Sikhs. A very unusual bu…

Hello, I need help. I am a bad sikh. I don't work at the moment. I am on employment and support allowance which is for people who are unfit for work. I am claiming this at the moment for my mental health problem. I am only volunteering a couple of days a week. If I am honest, I don't want to work. I don't know what's wrong with me. I am apparently sad and weird which I believe is true. I sit at home and read stuff on the internet about religion and don't do anything productive. I find life hard. I am lazy. I can't face my problems like a man. I avoid being responsible. I wish I was one of the winners in life who everybody loved but it feels like people want to stay away …

FAO Sikh Sangat Please do not ignore. Sikhs and new Ravidassia movement At some point the SGGS will be removed from some UK temples as the new amrit bani will eventually be the focual point for some ravidas temples as the ravidas suk sagar has its own morning, evening prayers and own wedding lavaan, It is already happening in some Bhawans/Gurdwaras such as in Bradford. http://www.gururavidassguruji.com/universalamritbani.htm Also the birthday celebrations of Satguru Ravidas is celebrated as gurprub Akhand Paath. Where the SGGS is present it is respected through normal Sikhi worship? but how long will this last? As the dera encourages and formalises the new movem…

As the title goes has anyone actually read the Quran here? I've seen quite alot of people debating about various quotes from it but all of them seem to be from rather biased websites, its interesting how so many people just throw these quotes out but im genuinely curious if anyone has read any portion of it or even any of the Hadiths.

I am a sikh women and I cannot find anyone to marry me. I don't remove my hair and sikh men don't like that even though they keep their own hair. Sikh males have a female hair phobia. I absolutely adore my bodily hair because I feel free. By this I mean that I feel like I am the only person who knows the truth that all women grow hair and I can fully accept myself in my natural form. Not many women (actually none) like themselves with hair. I would like to add that I do not do my eyebrows, upper lip or facial hair. To me it means something hugely special to have hair because it means I have not developed a false belief that females should look hairless when that is not ou…

Hey 'Christian Girl'. You may be all excited over the fact that you've managed to befriend so many gullible 'Sikhs' on various topics on the main page of this forum but, you should know, that there are many here that know what your little game is. About 3 or 4 years ago on this very forum I posted the complete degree module from Trinity (Christian) University in Canada about 'How to Convert Sikhs'. It was sent to me by someone I was actually conversing with on an online architecture forum (of all things ) but when he heard I was a Sikh he thought I might be interested in how organised and sophisticated the Christian conversion menace had become. The Module itself we…

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh PROBLEM CONTEXT I am living/ working in a country for a few months where there are no Sikhs, let alone a Gurudwara. I've tried contacting via FB etc, there is no sangat near me. My team is nice, we get along fine. I do not at all feel even the slightest temptation to drink alcohol, touch meat (vegertarian options without egg are so scarce here), have relationships with other travellers or remove my body hair (even though it is 50 degrees heat and everyone is wearing singlets and shorts going to the beach). I know this is all Guru Ji's help. 2 years ago I was drinking and vomiting in toilets, having sex with stran…

I wanted to post this because some people on another thread called something like "don't judge monas" were very honest about their family background ie them keeping kesh and their fathers drinking, smoking and stuff. Well, I am from the reverse situation where my father is now amritdhari and I don't keep kesh. My point is this. My father is still one of the most heartless, stupid and cruel men I have met (and I have been about). So those guys who are pushing for guys to take amrit to solve all these problems we are having in the community are just plain simple. It is not a quick cure for all our problems. I'm not saying all amritdharis are like this and I know some that…
