Youth And Sikhi

waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh!!!! Sangat jio, I was sitting outside today, just thinking, and then i started to think about todays Sikh Youth. Young Sikhs, shud be Striving to learn about their religion/sikhi. And the thing they strive for in their lives is fasion, Boys/Girls, Etc. Gurbani is also very important. Reasoning for this is that, Gurbani is Our guru's Teachings. Many of todays Sikh youth reject wat the ir religion is, and wat sikhi means to them. Living in weastern Society, youths of almost ever culture give up on it, because its to strictt and they would never be able to fallow it to the full extent, so then whats the point of being 'part sikh'…

Hunkaar Vs Sikhi
by Guest Guest- 4 replies

How do u distinguish between hunkaar and sikhi? For example, i was recently in conflict with a member of my family where I said that as per sikhi, we should be trying to go to gurdwara as often as possible and they told me that as gursikhs, we have to perfect in everything (not just spiritually), so if i was not the best at studies or at work, then I wasnt a gursikh! When I tried to explain my point of view, I got told that I was displaying hunkaar and that because they were older than me, they were definately correct!! I have had other conflicts with this person and because from my understanding of sikhi, their point of view doesn't seem to be in line with my understand…

Got Told Off 1 2

Dear brothers and sisters, I thought that a sikh is allowed to oil their hair. Today I was in town with my friends and this Aunty come up to me and asked whether I was sikh. I said yes to her then she told me that I'm not suppose to oil my hair if I'm a Sikh it agaisnt Rehit Maryada. (I'm not Amrit Dhari yet but hoping to be to the near future). I just wanted to ask why are some people against oiling hair? I only oil my hair because they get dry quite quick. It's not like I'm doing it for the sake of beauty. Why do so many sikhs stick to superstitions and twist the Rehit Maryada words around regarding themselves being Sikhs?

Parents- we all know how undermining they can be not to mention some things too embarrasing toask them about  Giani ji's - tend to be too blunt or will talk about something completely different then what you cam to them for, and 100 percant of time will talk in panjabi! Your bros or sisters - reliable source but sometimes you need to ask things that even they caould not be asked Youth/sangat/without going to them/at anytime - now that seems comfortable, free, easy and for some people if htey require a gupt place to share their problems, seek help of any questions   So for the paajis or penjis that take mick out of sum pples questions, read above fi…

VJKK, VJKF Sangat Jee I'm stuck in a massive Dillema. I don't know what to do. My parents want me to get married but abroad mainly because they think there are not enough Amrit Dhari's in UK. I'm an Amrit Dhari myself aswell. This guy from India they chose come down to see me, but I didn't like him as he doesn't even have general knowledge. I'm studying pharmacy and all he wants to do is plumbing. However I also know another Amrit Dhari guy, we only chat at the moment but I kind of like him, and I he likes me too. (Havent done anything wrong). But I'm scared of my parents that they'll get upset if I dont go ahead with the one from India because they seemed to like …
