brothers, if armpits feels unable to ask this question in person, maybe his suggestion to have someone from dalpanth record Baba Ji's veechar on this and distribute it to sangat, if only to put across the side of dalpanth, who's credibillity has taken a downturn, over 84 and such, is not such a bad idea? Maybe this could be part of a reconcilation between sides and help us to grow together more to make the Panth stronger?

Ok, here we go: 1. Maala: Common sizes are 108 beads, 54 beads and 27 beads. Sikhs dont believe in rudrakhsh or tulsi maalas. Material of maala is irrelevant, what matters is the love for God. It could be anything, Sarabloh, wood, plastic, wool etc. 2. Tally Counter: You can buy these from poundland, or from any stationary/toy store. Really cheap, and discreet! Keep it in your pocket and do gupt jaap! 3. Fingers: Use your fingers if you are in the public or dont have any mala around. 1 cycle is usually of 12 jaaps, if you repeat that 9 times, it complete 1 full mala of 108 jaaps. Easy! Waheguru! :happy: 4. Pencil and paper: I used to find it effective during lectures Do 4 vertical and 1 diagonal line crossing them 4, thats 5 jaaps per set! do as many as you want! 5. Mobile phones: This is one of my favs! Almost every phone has the ability to add additional software to it. Since we keep our mobile phone on us almost all the time, it means we have got a mala with us all the time too! :happy: Those of us with iphones, android, symbian etc. phones can search for 'mala' or 'rosary' in the app market. wjkk wjkf I have just come across this thread. My neice went to the camp and she told me that it was a " Punjabi Camp " rather than a " Gurmat Camp ". The majority of group leaders were non-Amritdharis who didn't seem to inspire any of the campers to take Amrit and follow Guru Ji's Rahit. My neice told me that there is one Gursikh young bibi )which I assume is the same Gursikh Bibi mentioned in the initial post who was refused to make food in the kitchen and was also refused to have anyone bring her food from outside of the camp) The Bibi went to sleep hungry for the first day and the rest of the week she ate pasta brought to her by Bhai Navreet Singh from a local Gursikh's house on Tuesday and ate it for the whole week. She had to keep the pasta in room instead of keeping it in the kitchen fridge because of the intolerance and lack of respect shown by the organisers and kitchen sewadars. Although I'm not Amritdhari it makes me feel sick and disgusted that someone can treat another human being like this. If someone is following a Rahit that they wish to eat from Amritdharis or cook their own food then why should they be all food and made to starve and eat in secrecy? Where is the piaar and tolerance? The comments about Taksalis and AKJs not being allowed in the camp and sewadars being cancelled last minute because they keep Rahit which makes the organisers feel insecure about themselves is clear discrimination which people like the BNP would do! I wouldn't expect this BNP type of thinking to be found in people organising a " Gurmat Camp ". My neice also told me that Bhai Navreet Singh did a really good talk on Monday and Tuesday but apparently he had also been asked not to come to the camp last minute because he keeps Sarbloh Rahit but he still came. My neice was very inspired and gave up eating meat hearing Bhai Sahib's talk. Sadly one of the organiser uncles, Bahadur Singh, kept emphasising throughout the whole camp and discussions that Sikhs can eat anything they want as long as it is not Halaal. It seems that the camp would prefer camps to eat Mc Donalds and Burger King than allow people who keep some discipline in what they eat to attend the camp or do sewa. I hope something can be done about this camp as it sends a wrong impression to campers. Really upset and disappointed.

vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh :umm: sums up exactly how I felt when reading this Shabad too. Bhagat Kabeer Ji may be describing the effect of worshipping Akaal Purakh. So the animals/images would be metaphors for the way things change when Guru Ji's Grace has been realised, and the way a person changes when they become a true Gurmukh. Our minds are like the elephant (drunk with ego/lust), the oxen (who always needs beaten to get it to move), the crow (who thinks of himself as very clever). But after becoming devoted to Guru Ji, the mind develops pure love. (The donkey was stubborn and stupid but the mind no longer is, instead it dances to the tune of God's love. Even the great water buffalo now attaches its mind to Guru Saheb.) Everything has given up its desire/ego/lust/cleverness. raajaa raam kakareeaa barae pakaaeae, kinai boojhanehaarai khaaeae|| Guru Ji has blessed us with this divine knowledge. The King of creation has cooked the barae (cakes) but the world mistakes it for poison/bitterness (kakareeaa). Only those spiritually awakened souls eat it and find the taste sweet - only the fortunate Gurmukhs utilise this knowledge and revel in it. The mind has given up kingliness and aggression (the lion instead prepares the betel nuts) and the rat abandons its greediness. The turtle/tortoise abandons its fear of the outside world and instead of hiding in its shell blows the horn with confidence. The mouse similarly sings God's praises to the world. The mind is set free from its entanglements and is liberated through Guru Ji's blessing. I don't know how accurate the translations are with regards to the next two lines (bans ko pooth beeaahan..) as there doesn't seem to be any mention of sterility? Someone please correct me if there is. The woman Bhagat Ji talks of could be Maya's son, who abandons his dual-mindedness and sin, instead marrying a pure daughter/virgin. The whole world blesses this union. Bhagat Ji says that even the tiny ant has managed to conquer the mountain. It has overcome its ignorance and instead has adopted humility and true knowledge.
