before posting the false information above you guys should try to understrand it. gurbani never beleived in adam and eve. its used as a metaphor. gurbani tried to reach people at all people of faith. this was one way at reaching muslims in order to show them that god exists in everyone. sggs beleiving in adam and eve would be a contradict to itself since as we all know, gurbani has clearly claimed that noone knows when this world began. adam and eve are suppose to be 6000 years old whereas its scientifically proven to be false. Gurbani itself knows that life was not 6000 years old. I do believe that there has been RSS infiltration under our noses in terms of "Sikh leaders" in our community and are making the average Sikh fight amongst ourself. My benti to the sangat is to always question every step of your path as there will be challenges and people trying to subtly change you as a Sikh. Sikhi is the life of truth and naturally or by kudrath truth is always suppressed or distorted by bad people who feel threatened by the truth. Now's the time for love and informing each other without getting infuriated if you want to unify the Khalsa panth. Unify the Khalsa panth with love, sharda, devotion, and steadfast truth/facts! Even in a shant way you can still be a steadfast force that cannot be reckoned with, in many cases it is much more effective in unification... In a room filled with darkness you don't pick up daangan (sticks) to try to bring light, you simply either turn on the light switch or light a bathi...similarly we approach whoever we think has fallen from the path and do whatever we can to help them. This is a part of being a Sikh as well, we need to help each other out. From what I have read, heard and watched, Santh Jarnail SIngh Ji always stood up for the respect of women. He always spoke up agianst the corrupt police or government officials of india when they would rape or humuliate any women in front of a whole village, or in private. Even if this meant risking his life from Government snippers, or being arrested by the corrupt police to be tourched or killed in custody. Santh Jarnail Singh Ji was one of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's true Saint Soilder Sons !!!! Could you imagine if any of us had his bravery, or even the courage to speak in public, against injustices!!!

Unfortunately the Panth does not have a good record of looking after Shaheeds and those giving everything for Sikhi as the news item below states. According to Jasbir Singh, prime witness against Jagdish Tytler, SAD (Badal) has a long history of exploiting the victims and widows of November 1984. Starting from 1994 bye-election of Ajnala constituency and repeating the same in 1997 and 2007 elections, SAD Badal used the widows and victims to exploit the emotions of Sikhs in Punjab and after winning the elections always abandoned and ignored them. In fact, recently Shaheed Gursharn Singh Rishi, a half burnt bed ridden victim of November 1984 and a prime witness against Sajjan Kumar, died while begging Badal and SGPC to fulfill their promise of grant which they had publically announced at Balongi village, stated Jasbir Singh. Late Surinder Singh, who had been Granthi at many Gurudwaras and who was a witness against Jagdish Tytler was promised a permanent position as Granthi in Punjab by SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar due to ongoing threats to Surinder Singh's life in Delhi. However, SGPC miserably failed to honor its promise of appointing Surinder as a Granthi in Punjab and left him at the mercy Jagdish Tytler in Delhi where he was killed on July 13, 2009, lamented Jasbir Singh.

Another point I wanted to make in my previous post was how I also understood the other side of the coin, in regards to this issue. No doubt, there will be those who will strive to undertake all analysis and investigation with a pure heart & nothing but respect. But how can you compensate for those who will "infiltrate" proceedings for the sole purpose of creating confusion and causing disputes? That's why I also appreciate the point of view of those Sikhs who say "Leave Well Alone" because it would be like opening Pandora's Box. Everyone will be able to have a pop, and that's something we can't reverse if we 'open our doors' as it were. How will we know which person has honest intentions and which person is there to cause fractures and sow the seeds of doubt?

OK you have seens Bibia performing kirtan and there are many raagi jathey of bibia. You are not closely aware of job granthi singhs do there. They have a tough life and they do not get proper respect (sometimes due to their greedy nature). Their pay is low and they are supposed to go house to house and collect money for SANGRAAND every month. And usually have to face some people who do not want to give money every month but they do it and they say bad things to granthi singh. The image of granthi singhs in India is not respectful and they are a character of fun among ordinary people. They crack jokes on granthi singh and its not new thing. Granthi Singhs are sometimes called fat and also people say and think that all they eat is just Karah ( karah Parshaad )and do everything for money without any inner feeling of guru seva. I must say that Granthi Singh job is a man job, If Mayi Bhago could fight in battle of course a lady could also perform this job but the thing is first of all Gurdwara Committees aren't looking for lady granthans. Why would any lady be interested in doing that? They choose doing kirtan which gets them higher respect and also the higher pay. Punjabi culture and people cannot even imagine this happening and u are expecting to have lady granthi in India. I have not heard of this kind of news even in western countries because Gurdwara committees everywhere are typical punjabi people. Some white Sikh Bibia I think have done it because their culture is different from punjabi culture. Also punjabi ladies barely do any other jobs, majority of them are house wives. No lady would ever have thought of being a granthi.

All ive got to say is when reading history do so without any prejudice. Dont read what yoy want too but all facts, having done so dont only tell half the story or the.bits you want too, to naive youngsters

There are mischievous elements (with admittedly honourable intentions) who prevent people from asking questions, as its considered - in their opinion - as blasphemy. I personally feel Sikhi can easily stand-up to scrutiny, especially the peerless teachings of our Gurus. From my limited knowledge (at this moment in time) of what our Gurus preached, I honestly cannot see any contradictions or mistakes in their words. Those Sikhs who shut-down debate and discussion are behaving as if the faith has got something to hide and fear. By doing so its almost an admission that we have no confidence in our faith, and even the slightest probing or investigation might cause the whole thing to collapse like a house of cards - which is so far from the truth. Our Gurus words, teachings and proclamations = gospel (in my opinion).

Baba Hanuman Singh Ji and the remaining Singhs went to camp out in the Sikh Princely state of Patiala. The King of Patiala, Maharaja Karam Singh upon receiving word that the knights of the Guru were camped out in his state, out of fear of retribution for his support to the British, Karam Singh informed the British of the whereabouts of the Jathedar and Sikh army. Baba Ji and the Sikh soldiers were surrounded by the British and their Sikh cohorts, the Princes’ of Patiala, Jind, Faridkot and other traitors. The British army and their Sikh stooges opened up cannon fire on the Sikhs. 15,000 Sikhs attained martyrdom at the spot where Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran now stands in the district of Patiala. Budha Dal oral tradition states that 32,000 Singhs became shaheed during this battle. Leader of the Sikh army, Jathedar Baba Hanuman Singh Ji and around 500 Nihang warriors survived this attack, and continued to fight the heavy cannon fire of the British, with swords, bows and arrows, axes and matchlock fire. Finally after running out of gun powder and watching thousands of Sikh warriors achieve shaheedi, the brave Jathedar of the Guru’s beloved Khalsa, Akaali Baba Hanuman Singh Ji died fighting for the freedom of the people of Punjab at the age of 90. After the martyrdom of Baba Hanuman Singh, Akaali Baba Prehlada Singh Ji became the 8th leader of the Akaali Nihang Singh Khalsa. The British implemented a shoot to kill order on the Nihang Singhs, and Baba Prehlada Singh left for the holy Takht Sahib at Nander to regroup the Akaali army. The few remaining Nihang Singhs, left with Baba Ji towards Hazoor Sahib, or moved camp to the jungles of Punjab and Rajputana to preserve the heritage of the Guru’s army. Gurdwara Sohana Sahib Ji located in the Mohali district of Punjab, was built on the shaheedi asthan (place of martrydom) of Baba Hanuman Singh Ji, in memory of a brave leader of the Sikh nation. You are right brother that sikhi doens't teach us to discriminate based on gender.. There is no maryada (law/code) which bar sikh women to become granthi sahib or preacher or keertania.. We as sikh should be proud of our rich dharam which gives equal respect to all humans.. Western world gave women right few decades ago but it was our guru sahibs who gave women full rights few 100 years ago.. Our guru sahib jees gave huge sikh dharam responsibilities to bibian to go out and preach.. Now.. coming back to the point.. you are right that it is extremely rare case to see bibi being granthi of gurughar.. Till this date, i haven't seen one.. However at the same time we do see kaurs doing akhand paat di sewa and other religious duties more than men do.. It maybe rare to see women holding official granthi position but we do know for the fact that they are more religious active than most of us....

He is an authentic Sikh preacher and his knowledge is beyond what many SIkh leaders can grasp he is one chardi kala SIngh Sahib. Watch out for his his Jatha are staunch Sikhs they will not be messed with.

lol the singh sabha gurdwara in southall has a pub opposite it (glassy junction) less then 20 ft away. no1 says anything about that. Unless they own the pub, its irrelevant. Most Gurdwaray in UK have a pub located only a few steps away. The point is the Gurdwara should not be using any part of their owned / rented property (including community centres etc) for the purpose of anti-gurmat activities including, meat and alcohol. This was reiterated in the sandesh issued from Akaal Takht Sahib 2006. I think a copy can be found on the forum in another section.

Back in 2000 Ujjal Dosanjh was the leader of the NDP Party in British Columbia and the NDP won the election and he became the Premier of British Columbia. Some time later Dosanjh, who describes himself as being a moderate Sikh who is against "Sikh" extremism, came to Gurdwara Sahib Dasmesh Darbar with Penny Preddy a fellow party member. I cleary remember the CTV broadcast that shows him and Preddy eating in the langar hall. For those of you who have never been to Dasmesh Darbar, let me inform you that the entire langar hall has pictures of the various Shaheed Singhs that took part in the Khalistan Movement. Dosanjh never gave any protest of the pictures being there nor did he refuse to visit the Gurdwara. Why? Because at that time Dasmesh Darbar was the center for the Sikh Community in BC and Dosanjh knew that if he upset the supporters of the Gurdwara it would have large political consequences for him and his party. The man is a politician, who is just looking out for himself. Now he is using the whole "Air India" headline to further his political career.

:D Its good the old paintings were removed as they were made during Ranjt Singh's time,and had major flaws and a lot of Hindu Influence in them,secondly it was the Sarkari Thakt which was torn down that Pakhandi Nang Santa was hired by the govt to rebuild it,Sikhs did not acceot this so tore it down,thats why you see so many Niddar nangs getting all heated up over the issue. You know nothing about the history. GOI hired a puppet to rebuild Akal Takhat who within two months with budget of couple of crore rs. did the job and satisfied the government despite the opposition from the entire Panth. When it was finally decided to destroy the government built building, Baba Thakur Singh and other kar seva babas wanted to tear down everything including the base and build the so-called new room full of marble and paintings. It was some Sikh historians who interfered and saved the Kotha Sahib. When the building was tore down many bones were found which had been mixed in the cement. The entire Panth agreed to rebuild Akal Takhat. Panth has the right to change the design and make it bigger as long as the concept, principle and function do not change. In fact, Panth rebuilt Darbar Sahib one time and Nawab Kapoor Singh laid the foundation after it was completely destroyed by Abdali. Design doesn't matter. What matters is the message and its relation to gurmat. It is kar seva babas who destroyed our unique heritage and became rich.

Sikhi is personal. It is up to the indvidual to make these decisions. Forcing someone to wear a turban or become sikh is only going to make sikhs who drink alcohol etc and have no regards for sikh principals.

Islam is false and is rejected in Gurbani. vedas and hindu books are also false. You are using translation which is false. Much of the English translation in my opinion is false and very wrong. First thing we must keep in mind is that Gurbani is the absolute truth and it does not contradict itself. In other words, Gurbani does not reject Vedas at one point and then accept their authority at another. This particular panktee you have used is as follows: ਬੇਦਕਤੇਬਕਹਹੁਮਤਝੂਠੇਝੂਠਾਜੋਨਬਿਚਾਰੈ ॥ ਬੇਦਕਤੇਬ – Vedas and Quran ਕਹਹੁ -I (Kabeer) say ਮਤ - Religions ਝੂਠੇ – false Now the meanings are clear. Kabeer Ji says that “I openly say that religions (ways) preached by Vedas and Quran are false and false are those who do not understand this fact.” The word “Mat” does not mean “Do not” but it means religions or different way to reach God.
