  1. Fauja Singh - 100 year old from Ilford (east london), has set a world record for being the oldest person to complete a marathon. Oh btw he also broke another 8 records last week. Wow this is amazing. I bet most of us, me included would struggle to achieve anything near to this. Well done Baba Ji, you are a real inspiration to many, a true idol people should look up to. Just goes to prove you can do anything you set your mind to as he only started running at the tender age of 89. He such a nice humble guy who raises lots for charity and is a devout Sikh. http://uk.eurosport....3&order=date#co http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/world-of-sport/article/73024/ http://www.bbc.co.uk...canada-15330421 Possibly this may be in fitness section, however this section also says sports in the description. Also more people will view it here. EDIT: Also he has corporate sponsorship from Adidas. Proceeds go to charity. There were some ads a few years ago, I reckon they will have a new campaign maybe?

  2. It is a common misconception that bhagats were Hindus or Muslims. Initially they were but eventually, they parted ways. Bhagat Kabir Ji was a disciple of Bhagat Ramanand Ji but later on he met Guru Nanak Dev Ji and received Naam. Even Hindu scholars like Raam Kumar Verma and Prof. Divedi affirm that Bhagat Ji was greatly influenced by a “Punjabi Sadhu” who was none other than Guru Sahib. Nihal Singh Soori wrote a detailed work on Bhagats in the beginning of 20th century. All Janamsakhis confirm that Guru Sahib met Sheikh Farid Ji twice whose real name was Sheikh Ibrahim Farid Saani. Bhai Vir Singh in Guru Nanak Chamatkar on Page 250 states that it is Bani of Farid Saani included in Aad Guru Granth Sahib Ji and not of first Farid who was born in 12th century. Prof. Khaliq Nizami in his book on Bhagat Farid also advocated the same viewpoint. So it is not just Sikhs but even Hindu and Muslim scholars after careful study of the lives of the bhagats reach the conclusion that bhagats were influenced by Guru Sahibans which is clear from their own Bani. Those who wish to study about Bhagats whose Bani is included in Aad Guru Granth Sahib Ji, please read the book Itihaas Guru Granth Sahib by Giani Gurdit Singh. Guru Rakha

  3. No problem Bhenjee, a friend sent this information via e-mail about a month ago. It's been taken from the following website: www.japa-retreat.info. Found it quite interesting as the Camp stated on the website was based around doing an Akhand Jaap of the Brahm Kavach Baanee. VaheGuru!

  4. VaheGuru Jee Kaa Khalsa VaheGuru Jee Kee Fatheh! Bhenjee kindly take a look at the attached file and you can download the audio recitation of this Baanee on the following links: http://www.gurmatveechar.com/audios/Gurbani_Ucharan/Kabaal_Singh_%28Hazoor_Sahib_wale%29/Sri_Dasam_Granth_Sahib_%28Hazoor_Sahib_Bir%29/096--Kabaal.Singh.Hazoor.Sahib--Sri.Dasam.Granth.Sahib.Paath.Brahm.Kavach.mp3 http://www.damdamitaksal.org/wimpy1/01-Nitnem/Nitnem%28dasam%29Bhai%20Mahtab%20Singh%20Ji/013-BARAHM%20KAWACH.mp3 Guru Jee states in this Baanee that the Warrior who reads this 32 times will be triumphant in all battles; the Sanths who read this will gain immense peace; the Merchants who read this will gain wealth; and the Labourer who reads this will gain good health. Many Kathakaars often mention that Brahm Kavach was recited during times of Jang especially by Warriors like Baba Deep Singh Jee Shaheed. This Baanee is still read today by many Nihang Singh as part of their daily Nitnem. Sri Akaal Jee Sahae!
