  1. I would also like to give the Readers an update from the Court hearing on the 26th Oct. The Judge viewed the CCTV footage of the five or so incidents in which I had been stopped by the Warsaw Airport Border Guards. The CCTV showed clearly that I followed all the usual steps in preparing to go through the Security check - ie hand over my lap top, briefcase, watch, Kara, belt, metallic objects, belts etc and placed them on the scanner. Then I walked through the walk through scanner - the Border Guards are seen stopping me (there is no sound recording - but I can say that the buzzer did not beep in most cases...). The Guards are seen asking me to accompany them to a separate cabin - I collect my belongings and accompany them to the Cabin - the Cabin does not have CCTV - in that place (rather a claustrophobic area) the Guards start to harass me demanding that I remove my turban... my protestations that they should first check me with the hand held held detector are not recorded, but the Guards ignore my requests .. and I am forced to remove my turban - else I would not be able to travel. Having been treated in this way on four occasions, I decided to take a stand, and on the CCTV footage of the event, I am seen refusing to go into the booth, asking to be checked in the public area, and then if there is no alarm, to be allowed to continue on with my legitimate journey... The Guards are seen to be ignoring this request - the situation runs on for over 30mins and I miss my flight - but I continued to refuse to remove my turban without there being any evidence that it posed a threat. The Judge did not make any comment on the 26th Oct - but has adjourned the Hearing till the 14th Dec. On that day a final CCTV footage of another, very serious escalation of the action by the Border Guards will be seen - when one of the Guards who was in Court previously to give evidence in the matter, and confirmed that he knew me, will be seen (in my view) conspiring with another Guard to pointedly harass me - which they did. Here I would sincerely like to acknowledge the Sikhs Bhai's from the Warsaw Sikh Community who attended the Court to show support for the concern of all Sikhs in World and especially our Gyani ji. who also attended. All support that can be given to the Gurudwara in Warsaw would be most welcome. As mentioned above, once this last CCTV has been seen - I will be asked to give my full evidence, which I will do. 2. Are you being serious?First off your post wreaks of racial discrimination and secondly two wrongs never make a right. We should be doing a lot, but we'd rather sit on a forum and simply moan and complain without actually doing anything about the problems. :dry2: That's a definition of a coward

  3. some points re the above – 1. ofcom is not stopping sikhs talking about human rights abuses in india or advocating khalistan on the sikh channel or anywhere else – what ofcom is saying is that as per its code which all tv broadcasters are subject to it is not the job of broadcast media like the sikh channel to be partial on such issues but rather give others the platform to voice their opinions - don't think its a good idea to start complaining to ofcom 2. sikh channel’s response posted above to ofcom’s findings appears to suggest the channel will show neutrality in the future on these issues – this is a change to its original response to ofcom and the argument it made previously re its role in the d-day protest that it is a ‘campaigning’ channel and will take an editorial stance and participate in the debate on sikh issues 3. sikh channel should have an editorial and broadcast policy and make it clear to the sangat – they are not prevented from raising any of the issues they have re india and human rights they just need to do it an ofcom code compliant way hopefully this will lead to more professionally produced programming on these issues in the future - there is nothing stopping the channel naming and shaming on such shows the indian high commission and the indian oversees congress party members if/when they are invited to debate the issues and refuse to attend like is commonly done on the bbc 4. blaming kam may help sikh channel in its appeal but is not fair on him in that he’s not the only presenter on sikh channel to present his own views during a show and in any case ofcom’s bigger criticism appears to be the channel’s failure to provide the footage on time 5. the complaints filed at ofcom were not only to do with kam’s show but also involved two other shows earlier that month – recall that this was the month leading up to the june rally when jathebandee’s were on the channels asking everyone to attend. anti sikh elements are clearly worried by the power of sikh media in galvanising sangat’s interest on the issue of India and sikhs - hope sikh channel finds out who made the complaints with a freedom information request if necessary and let the sangat know - what are the chances they are sikhs not hindus

  4. If 2 people, who did not want the TRUTH to be stated, contacted Ofcom and caused this fuss, then why can't we as Sikhs, who like the truth the be stated, contact Ofcom and state that we feel that we are being oppressed from telling the truth on our own media. Remember, Sikh Channel belongs to YOU, the Sikhs, If it loses money in silly fines etc, then YOU the Sikhs lose. If ever it closed down due to lack of support then YOU, the Sikhs, lose YOUR channel!!! Please support YOUR channel, only YOU have everything to gain while it's broadcasting, and only YOU will have lost YOUR channel, if ever it went under. Believe me, we'd ALL regret it then!!!. Support all Sikh Channels - Support your voice!

  5. Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh, Just a quick update: A meeting took place between the sadh sangat and GNG Bedford Committe members.(23/10/11) and we are please to announce with GURU MAHARAJ'S KIRPA that GNG Bedford withdrew their support from the diwali festival event and NO samosas or GNG Bedford Committee presence was sustained. The 1978 Hukamnama was read out to the committee and sangat which CLEARLY states ALL sikhs to have no form of contact with NARAKDHARIS in any way, shape or form. Also it was highlighted that that even though we must support our local councils in which ever way possible, GNG Bedford Sadh Sangat does not support events that involve Anti Gurmat Music and Dancing. GNG has always supported inter faith relations however we as a Panth primarily follow the Hukum laid out by Sri Akal Takht Sahib. May Guru Maharaj fogive those responsible for Supporting this event whether it be knowingly or unknowingly and BLESS THEM WITH MORE OF AN UNDERTANDING IN THE FUTURE. The rest remains an internal issue for GNG Bedford committee to discuss between themselves. WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH !!!

  6. S.O.P.W (Sikh Organisation for Prisoner Welfare) Press Release – 26/10/2011 “Reignite the flame of freedom for those who languish in darkness”. S.O.P.W wishes the Panth and all of humanity had a very happy and prosperous Bandi Chhor. Bandi Chhor Diwas is the anniversary of Guru Hargobind Ji being released from the prison at Gwalior Fort. In was on this day in 1619 A.D. the kind Guru Ji refused to leave the fort of his own and demanded release of other 52 Hindu Rajas. Guru Hargobind Ji is known as Bandi Chhor because the imprisoned ones (Bandi) were released (Chhor) by Him. Guru Ji was always prepared to sacrifice his own freedom for the sake of other innocent people i.e. today’s equivalent of political prisoners / prisoners of conscience, were released also. We urge you to consider the plight of those innocent Sikhs/Hindus/Muslims who year in year out, spend Bandi Chhor away from families and friends in a small dirty cell, hearing fireworks and celebrations happening outside their prisons. We urge you to help us to help them. You may not be able to travel to India and fight their legal cases, but your donations enable us to instruct lawyers on their behalf. So far this year S.O.P.W, in this way, helped facilitate the release of 12 prisoners (9 Sikhs and 3 Hindus): Jasvir Singh Najum Singh Avtar Singh Bheora Jaspal Kaur Bheora Jagtar Singh Bakshish Singh (Amritsar) Darshan Singh Dilbagh Singh Surinder Singh Joginder Kumar Ajit Raj Bishan Lal Furthermore S.O.P.W has: - Arranged the medical treatment of 7 prisoners (or their family members): Bikar Singh’s Father, Bhola Singh Bakshish Singhs Daughter, Simranjeet Kaur Balbir Singh Avtar Singh Bheora Jaspal Kaur Bheora Najum Singh Gurjeet Kaur - Funded the wedding of Bhai Najum Singh’s adopted daughter - Began distributing 3 monthly pensions; Kamaljeet Kaur Lahoria Gurjeet Kaur Najum Singh - Taken ownership of cases from 2 more prisons Amritsar Patiala £20 a month helps us provide prisoners with the basic amenities in prison such as fresh fruit, soap, oil (hair/body) and clothes. This year we are fully launching the Winter Clothing Appeal from the successful trial last year in October 2010 whereby S.O.P.W arranged winter clothing for prisoners in Tihar Jail. Following this and the blessings from all prisoners in Tihar, we are arranging the same appeal but for EVERY prisoner we are supporting across India. So please dig deep and donate or at the very least we can all make a heartfelt prayer that Guru Ji blesses all prisoners with Chardi Kala/High Spirits. Please donate your time, money and/or expertise to ensuring we are able to help those families and individuals whose liberty is denied so that we may ensure that the sparkle of their spirits can shine outside the tall confines of prison. 8. The concept of avataar , as accepted in Hinduism has no relevence in Our Faith, as evident in various places in SGGS, specially at Ank 276,278,279 etc in Sukmani sahib , the word avtaar is used to mean rebirth of the Soul - like narak surag fir fir avtaar,(ank 278 ), -sant ki ninda nanka bhur bahur avtaar (ank 279) -Nanak naam bisariye narak surag avtaar (ank 298 thiti gauri) - De De lena le le dena narak surag avtar (ank 1243) So the concept of avtaars as incarnation of Almighty is not accepted as such in Gurmat, the puranic references wherever used by Guru Sahib ji , are used as examples to explain certain point of view only , without any more importance .
