  3. The biggest issue affecting ALL young Sikhs in the UK at school/college's/Uni's is an inferiority complex. If questioned/challenged about Sikhi and Sikh beliefs they won't stand up but remain silent and take abuse, mocking etc. They are proud to be Sikhs at home, the Gurdwara and behind computer screens but not in the real world! This is primarily due to Sikhs lacking knowledge about Sikhi - this is a failure of the parents and Gurdwara's. Parents for not knowing themselves to tell their kids and Gurdwara's not effectively engaging with kids from a young age and connecting them with Sikhi as well as not developing them with the ability to confront such issues at Schools etc - why should a kid go to the Gurdwara if they're not getting something (kuraak) from there which at the very least should be knowledge and other things like spritiutal bliss, spirirtual development etc

  4. To be fair Gurmukho, the problem is that this "gupt seva" thats apparently happening, is on too much a small scale, and on an individual level to be effective. Regarding the Taksaal and AKJ yes there may be individual Gursikhs doing sevam, but these jathebandis as Jathebandis need to address the huge issues in Punjab until it is too late, never in Sikh history, more recently or from the start have issues like this been deal with by a handful of singhs, but instead the Sikh leaders rallied the sangat. My question is why have the Nishkam Seva Jatha departed from openly condemning the human rights violations (which continue today), and why have they stopped voicing their opinion against the injustices against the Sikhs re constitutional issues.

  5. I think you are getting negative replies about some places of west midlands. Its all how you choose to live in your home that counts. And with a bit of research from other areas like estate agents, websites such as upmystreet and myneighbourhood you Will get more of an idea of what area you want to live in. London is more expensive than midlands so your budget Will buy a nice spacious house in most reasonable areas of midlands towns. Wolverhampton is not a bad area neither is Birmingham. You just need to choose what amenities you need and schooling, which also can be researched on the net. I used to live in a very posh city with lovely scenery quiet and could not hear a pin drop. Then we moved to a busy area with lots of punjabis and even thou wish it was quieter and cleaner, its the culture that i like here, which i never experienced for years with no apne, or stores gurdware nearby. 20mins from a gurdwara is ok too. Every town has bad areas, ask locals too, rather than just on this forum as you Will get confusing views. Wolves is great as you got areas within 30mins travel by car, such as wednesfield, willenhall, west brom, Birmingham areas. With all the gurdware nearby any of these areas.

  10. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, Guru Pyaaree Sadh Sangat Ji, An interview will be aired on Sikh Channel this Saturday, (11th Feb 2012) at 8pm, with a family who lost their child to grooming. Being bought up to educated British born young Sikh parents, the child was just 12 years old when she was a target of sexual exploitation by adults. The interview follows the family’s journey from a happy household to a real life horror story. It exposes loop-holes in social services, police and schools who all collectively failed to protect this child. It uncovers the highly sophisticated methods of grooming and entrapment employed by paedophiles working in organised networks across cities. We have no words to express our sincere gratitude to the family who allowed us to film this for a second time, following the cancellation of the first video last month. In doing so, reliving all the distressing details and relaying them again in front of the cameras, displaying amazing courage and defiance against taboos associated with this hideous crime. Please make every person you know is aware of this show; it could save another family the unbearable heartache of losing a child. Kind regards, Sikh Awareness Society (SAS) sas.helpline@googlemail.com Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,

  12. vjkk vjkf ! listening to katha and vadde mahapurkhs bachans i've heard that the time ahead of us is going to be really bad, and that we should memorize bani as much as we can. just wondering what everyones thoughts are on the time ahead of us.. what we should do to prepare ourselves.. cause we all know that Brahm gyani's do not lie, From various reliable sources (Mahapurkha dian sevadaars as well as sau sakhi), I have heard that there will come a time when shaheed singhs will make Bani gupt due to the beadbi (disrespect) of Bani worldwide; when that happens we will only have the bani which is kant (memorised) available to us. Bhramgyanis have said that a time will come when life is so hard that constant Bani abhyaas is required just to survive. It would be wise for to build up our jeevans now, while life is relatively easy. Baba Thakur Singh ji bhindrenvale has mentioned that there is need of great abhyaas. Singhs have told me that he also said there was need to focus on shastar vidya as well. any thoughts? vjkk vjkf

  13. First of all one need to understand the whole situation more clearly. Sikh Sangat around the globe are very shardalu/dayaman type of community. Our Gurdwara system is very practical in form to serve needy people. Situation is different when we see rare cases where human error is involved in denying something to needy people. You also need to understand that some needy people in punjab are in habit of asking free stuff from people and they harass Sangat to full extent. One need to think that why we see beggars in front of Harmandar Sahib asking for money to eat food when a langar hall opens for them 24/7. They can do sewa in langar by washing dishes and no soul can stop them eating roti 3 times a day. However they choose to beg rather than doing work to earn roji roti. Catholic Christians are in Punjab with us for the past 150 years. They have good schools, dispensary and hospitals. They go deep in rural villages of india and actually spend money trying to help them out and in return they want them to adopt their dharam, which is fair to say. Of course they do all of this in the name of jesus. There is nothing wrong in doing that. HOwever in our community- middle class and poverty line families are more into giving dasvaandh and they are more likely to be god fearing folks; while rich aren't interested in anything relating to sikhi. While in christian dharam, it is total opposite; where rich folks donate in large sum and most of the time they leave their will worth in millions to church estate. That is why we see their system of missionary a solid strong as compared to our loose rusted system. Above video tactics is very cheap and show the desperate attempt by them to recruit large number of followers. They are doing what their headquarters are telling them to do. Few of us are doing what our gurbani tell us to do.
