Then in the comments people say bad stuff about the manmukhs. Rehat Maryada clearly says not to get revenge or retalliate useing kordi boli(bad words phrases anything that might anyone) if your ina life death matter then yes self defence is acceptable. Guru Gobind Singh always explained others sins with respect and love. As a follower of sikhi it is not right to use language lke that. May the sin be wrong yes i wont deny that but the way you deal about it or complain about it is. Please consider this waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

Is he really the best? A lot of people around me listen to his stuff and even told me to listen to it many times. I said okay finally and i didn't see anything special about it or felt it was deep. Maybe i can't recognize the deep music he sings. But listening to Gurbani i feel completely satisfied and feel no need to listen to anything. With listening to Gurbani there is just a desire to listen longer and longer. I think people listen to him because they are able to connect to him (on a lifestyle level and state of mind) and find a hard time connecting to Gurbani. I have seen it with my own eyes. A song from Sartaj comes on and everyone listens with complete attention and no one is talking, but when Gurbani is sung (even by an amazing Kirtan jatha), then people are talking and not paying attention. After seeing this display......it's not that Gurbani can't connect people, but Gurbani is very deep and requires from a person to work hard and understand the deep meaning it gives. Personally i wouldn't tell a person to listen to his stuff, but if a person is already listening to it. I won't tell them to stop, but i will tell them to keep moving forward. The way to move forward is actually listen to Gurbani with the intent to understand. ONce your able to do this, then you will never need anything else. When you grow attached to such people, which many do, then you suffer a lot from a Sikhi point of view. Instead of follow Satguru's instructions, the person let's the ego get the best of them and says, look at Sartaj hes not doing so and so and hes so spiritual. Therefore there is no need me to do it. I grew up around the famous rapper Tupac culture, who spoke about real life event taking place in the world and he woke a lot of sleeping conscious up. But he only took them to a certain level and then it was a stand still. Tupac also had much negative songs and bad habits. Those that actually got caught into saying he's the best got caught up doing the negative things Tupac sang about and did himself. The best really is Gurbani kirtan and everyone's goal should be to develop the love for Gurbani, where you don't have to travel else where.

Correct, I've read accounts of british policy towards the Sikh government and the faith and they made it quite clear they were a white christian supremacist lot trying to subjugate India, its native inhabitants and the rest of the world. They were scared of getting into a war with the Sikhs because of their military might and prowess, so they did everything in their power to weaken the empire by paying off various people to side with them in the coming anglo sikh war. They like in present times in muslim countries gave rise to local rebellions against Sikh rule. It was all divide and rule tactics the likes we can see today in countries like Libya. Sikhs who join any non-sikh army be it british or indian are just fighting for governments who have no interest in honouring the sacrifice that these Sikhs make for the nation. Look at what the Indian governments did from 1947 to present day yet Sikhs were the back bone of the Independence movement and are still the backbone of the army. Yet the government sends these poor sods into battles and wars without getting anything for the Sikh community.

the british are responsible for some decent things in the sub-continent, but for sikhi they made an incredibly damaging lasting effect. Losing our empire, jewels, power, royal lineage (Duleep Singh), Land (partition), Raag Vidya, Shastar Vidya, removal of Dasam Granth from takhts in panjab, and creating divisions over it. British should never be talked of in great light, like some idiots on sikh channel do. In my opinion (slightly off topic) but no sikh should EVER join the british army. If the british genuinely cared for sikh, they would help us in our venture to get a homeland

Everytime you lose focus go back to the start of the pauri and start reading again. And if it still happens in the same pauri then go back again at the beginning of the pauri. Do this as many times as it takes you to keep focus throughout the whole paat. After you are done now contemplate over the paat. Maybe take three pauris from the beginning and contemplate over what Satguru is saying. Then next day do the same when you lose focus and now continue on contemplating from the next three pauris or where ever you stopped the last day. It is a long process (depending on your commitment), but at the end you will notice you are a lot more calm throughout the day and are able to pick up on many subtle things in paat and in the world, which you did not notice or even existed before.

AkhandEurope ji, I agree with the you in regards to Sachkhand and writings of bhai sahib bhai Randhir Singh ji on subject of SachKhand. However I do not agree with comments such as, "Sant Jagjit Singh is very far from Gurmat" and I also disagree with you telling bhai N30 Singh ji which Gursikh he should follow. We can present our though on this subject then it is up to the person if they agree/disagree we cannot force our views on anyone. It is good to have an opinion on certain subject but we must also make sure that we present our views in a respectable manner and try and not offend particular person or jathebandi/samprada. If it was a huge structure as shown in above pictures and created by elite group of Sardars during ranjit singh era for their own families or clan then i am glad that such structure is not in this place today. Such huge structure takes the importance of aasthan of main darbar sahib diwan hall. To me, any historic building built during maharaja ranjit time is very important cultural era buildings and fine if it was demolished like 100 yrs ago. However structure made during guru sahib jees period is our religious matter and should be preserved at all cost. If i am not mistaken, most of the houses that used to be on 4 sides of parkarama sahib belonged to private families or reserved for sangat belonging to specific area of sikh raj. Many modifications were needed and made as time passes, for example: during old days, an opening of Baba Sri Chand mandir/praying place was from inside parkarma sahib. It got closed many decades ago and now you can see the entrance to this place from the outer premises of Sri Darbar Sahib (between Saran housing gate and Ghanta ghar).
