  1. Bhai Sahib Ji you shouldn't be this rude, I personally respect white sikhs and teaching of yogi harbhajan... Instead of looking how much sikhnet has done for the community we look at their avguns.. Think twice before you slander someone, guru sahib didn't teach us to slander although they teach us to love everyone.. Sikhs have gone to far from the teachings of guru sahib and with their own intellect they're telling others that they are wrong, and i mean it.. However, if you got problem with sikhnet, contact them personally.....Once, a great gursikh said if you slander someone, 100 people will stand with you but if you praise somone not many will stand with you... May maharaj bless us and give us the power to stand together, and may we have unity in the panth.... Kuaar hoyeh gayeh sabh, mileh gayeh Bhul chuk Mauf#

  2. Please no jokes as this will just serve to make a serious discussion into a mockery. In all honesty both Punjabi Sikhs and white Sikhs have their share of goods and bads. Yogi Bhajjan did do some good work in bringing people from a non Sikh background into the Sikh fold. For this I beleive he used Yoga to attract them. Contrary to what most might think but 3ho is not 100% in line with Yogi Bhajjan's thinking either. For example, Yogi Bhajjan was of the opinion that Homosexuality is abnormal and not in line with Gurmat lifestyle yet according to Guruka Singh and Mr Sikhnet homosexuality is perfectly normal and in no way does it go against Gurmat. In this I beleive that Guruka Singh is passing his opinion based on Manmat rather than Gurmat because he does not give any example from Bani or from the life of the Gurus to support his opinion. As an elder Parcharak who is treated with respect in the community it is the elder's responsibility to do parchar based on Gurmat rather then one's Manmat. Gurmat is based on the life and teachings of the Gurus or if you want to extend it even to include the Bhagats since their lifestyles and teachings were also inline with Gurmat. Guruka Singh is an elder man and in our culture we give respect to elders, and I don't think he means anything bad, he is a Sikh and is our brother. Mistakes happen by everyone but that mistake does not mean we should insult him but instead we should try to inform him of his mistake. If he still does not want to agree then we should leave it to Guru Jee and just ignore such a person.

  6. This Shabad starts on ang 966 and on ang 967, Satguru tells us about Sri Chand. Then further in the Shabad again Sri Chand is refered to and the same is said about Sri Chand. Here is the first reference. I recommend people listen to the Katha done of this shabad by Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh ji Maharaj, so we are not using our manmat to understand the shabad. Here is the Katha: audios / Katha / Puratan Katha / Sant Gurbachan Singh (Bhindran wale) / Guru Granth Sahib Larivaar Katha Raag Ramkali--Ang-966 (Vaar-Sata & Balwand) Whatever the Guru said, Lehna did, and so he was installed on the throne. Then here is the second reference. Sikẖāʼn puṯrāʼn gẖokẖ kai sabẖ umaṯ vekẖhu jė ki▫on. 8. An important change needed in our Kaum today is that parcharak need to start stating their source. Traditionally, kathha of Ihihaasik granths was done ie Suraj Prakash or Panth Prakash, so people knew where information was coming from. Today we have numerous parcharaks and sants giving us 100 different versions of 1 sakhi, when there are only perhaps 2-3 sources of that sakhi. A big reason this has (and still is on the large part) overseen is because our kaum has becmoe uneducated. western youth generally don't understand or can't read Punjabi, so never know the puratan sources and the older generation has become occupied in work/maya, has emigrated over the last cenutry and whole host of other things, focuses less on Sikhi, so this culminates in everyone taking the parcharaks/sants word for it, and many of these people present sakhis in their own decorated way, sometimes massively changing the the srtory (taking out elements they personally dno't agree with it) or other times adding things in which boost the popularity of their jathhaa. Personally I think the a Sakhi should be quoted, then presented in full, and then, the parcharaks should interpret and give opinions (as we do with footnotes in essays or translation projects. To say Yogi Bhajan said so is certainly not enough. To ridicule the sakhi because it came from yogi bhajan is also not good. What needs to be established is the what source yogi bhajan used for his facts (using yogi bhajan only as an exampel from the thread). Going back the thread, 1.5 seconds sounds too accurate, I expect if this fact is written in ithihaas somewhere the acutal translated word used would be 'moment' rather than second. If so, the trajectory of the statement would be more towards establishing baba Ajeet Singh as a superior and skilled Warrior, rather than give you statistical information about his performance. Same with running fater than a horse and 'challenging' savha lakh. The aim would be to show khalsa aspirants that the khalsa spirit would give a Singh the belief to run against a horse or to 'challenge' savha lakh, rather than to 'win' It's about courage and belief, not the end result. Sadly, much is lost in translation. You would be surpised how many stikes an expert can land with a sword, stick or dagger in a few seconds, it all depends on how close opponents are, and what type of strike it being used i.e. turning, circling (momentum), quick stabs etc etc :-) With a curved sword like a shamshir, 'slashing' would be the prefered method of attack, and one can slash with momentum and and in circular motions, along with rotational footwork/good positiong, one can recycle enegry and continue the attack on the next opponent etc (assuming not fighing in a unit). The problem is when people who have never kicked a football (couch pandits) become commentators on football!

  9. I have already educating Gurumustuk Singh on the Sri Chand idol and he refuses to accept what Gurbani and Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaars tell us. You can't educate a person who has already made up his mind. This is not a learning mistake made by Sikhnet, but a mistake they consider to be a right action.

  10. As dalsingh veer said, this is bound to happen. They wouldn't know anything about sikh activism as they never lived in punjab during state sponsor terrorism time or practice miri-piri together in their daily lives and most punjabi wouldn't know anything about their daily sadhana they do because of punjabiyat influence in Sikhi. At this current time, both have somewhat influenced khalsa panth in its purest form- punjabis have bought punjabiyaat/penduness in sikhi and 3ho have bought hocus pocus type/ new age stuff in sikhi. It's about time both mindset acknowledge each other shortcoming and educate one and another, built bridges between each other and work together...just like how puratan sampardavas work together...true unity is in diversity and celebration of diversity.

  11. In the end though, if the panth grows, whether we like it or not, perspectives wider than those that typically comes from Panjabi Sikhs will become a part of the panth too. No community, with diverse membership doesn't have this scenario. Seems inevitable to me? Best to keep friendly, open dialogue.

  13. i have been very aware of the way sikhs have been treated in india for many years now... i am fully occupied with work and sikhi but most of my days, especailly recently, i find im burning inside... sometimes while im at work i just feel real angry inside, at the truma sikhs have gone through in india... ive met families of shaheeds in india and in europe and ive even met a shaheed who the gvt thinks is dead and it just seems so personal.... sikhs are suppose to well wish on all... i cant... i wish all those who have taken part in the continued genocide against sikhs suffering of 8.4m lives of pains 8.4million times. i cant explain properly, but i wish them 8.4million cycles of 8.4million lives of pain... which is 70.56 million lives, each full of immence emotional and physical pain. i understand that sikhs have faced many genocides and killings since the shaheedi of 5th nanak, guru arjan dev ji, and were made to stand through such ordeals.... i understand all is hukam... i understand all the sikhi part ... but it doent seem to bring any comfort..... it doesnt help the anger i feel within.

  15. Had a cup of saunf-lechee di chaa and some bhujiyaa a few hours ago. What?!!? :biggrin2: On a serious note I've reduced my intake of bread (despite consuming wholemeal / brown bread since I was a child) and it's worked wonders for me in terms of feeling less lethargic. Don't know why because bread and roti (plus the usual suspects daalah and sabziya) is all I've ever eaten because of veg diet. I'm also eating a fair amount of fresh salad with every meal and have been doing for many years now. Next step is to start training.

  16. I'll tell you some good 'superfoods' for your detox : Alsi (flaxseed) and Tulsi (holy basil) All too often we dismiss the recommendations of our elders as being ill-informed or without scientific merit but....they know what they're talking about when it comes to superfoods. Our grandparents have been telling us alsi seeds have hyper qualities for years. But we only started listening when Californian movie stars started saying the same thing and made alsi an official superfood. Same with holy basil. I remember when my wife first came over from Punjab. She was feeling quite unwell and asked me to get some tulsi (holy basil). I tried and I tried but I just couldn't get any anywhere. The Chinese and Thai shops had it in paste form but I needed the actual plant leaves. In the end she told me to go down the local Hindu temple. She said every Hindu temple in the world will have some tulsi. I thought it was a bit strange but off to the Hindu temple I went. Lo and behold, they had the holy basil in abundance. The geezer there informed me that all Hindu temples have a holy basil plant because it is considered a herb of the gods as it has so many super healing qualities. Anyway.....you'll be surprised how many times the tulsi plant has soothed various ailments in our household. Same with the alsi (flaxseed). In the old days, when the average height of a Sikh was well over 6'2" and they were built like brick s***houses, the alsi seed was a major part of the Sikh's diet, as it mad their bodies strong and healthy. In modern days, the farmers just give it to the cows to fatten them up. Our strength and health has deteriorated accordingly. But in our household we try and put alsi in alot of things. It has so many super qualities it cures so many ailments. Actually I seem to remember an interview I read with the marathon runner Fauja Singh. In the interview he says the secret for his longevity and good health is the alsi walian pinnia that he eats religiously every day. Seriously i've got so much respect for the knowledge of the old timers from Punjab. They know so much more than we think we do. Take my car for example. For months and months I was driving around with a seriously overheating radiator. Leaking like hell. RAC man couldn't get to the bottom of it. Garage wanted to charge me a small fortune. Then an ol uncle visiting our house just happened to overhear my problem. He told me to put some haldi (turmeric) in it and the problem would be solved. Bish bosh bish...haldi in and problem solved. Happy days. Moral of the story ? wanna get your body detoxed so all the rubbish comes out and the goodness stays in ? Talk to an old timer from Punjab and get their advice. Health conscience Hollywood stars are doing it. Cut out the middle man (Hollywood) and go straight to the horses mouth. Oh....start growing some wheatgrass and drink 2 glassed of the juice you squeeze out of it per day. It will help in getting rid of the 2kg's of filth we've got stuck on the inside lining of our intestine. Either that or get a colonic irragation. But if you do go for the colonic...be warned...buy some adult nappies to wear on the way home. Friend of mine had it done and he made an awful mess on the car seat of the fella driving him home after.

  17. the best source i know that has in detail of what an amritdharee anand karaj is suppose to be like, http://gursevak.com/punjsanskar.html its a online pothi written in gurmukhi but easy to understand , if u have hard time reading punjabi u can listen to the recoridngs "Section 4: Details the marriage ceremony for Gurmukhs." In a Amritdhari Anadkaraj u can say its much more simpler than the average punjabi wedding, which means amrit dhari weddings focus on the anand karaj and not on the reception,, If the couple is amritdhari most ppl dont have a reception they have a kirtan in the evening on the day of the wedding ,, sum have a dinner type thing the next day like a family function,, the bride wont have jewelery or maek-up overdose, but a fancy suit or simple chola so if u cut out all the hindi traditions_wearing red langa, wearing chooreea (red braclets), bindi, other random cultural stuff u get a pure Sikh Wedding I havent seen amritdarees doing the maiya ceremony putting basan stuff on the couple face which is basically a desi facial and no lady sangeets and bhangra shangra and no dayn layn, like giving everyone suits and giving the bride a ton of gold soo Pure Sikh Wedding is the way to go, Pure money save! bhul cuk maffi ji
