  1. The only reason Manmohan was allowed into the PM's position by Sonia Gandhi and congress is because they knew he was weak minded and controllable. He was used as a puppet simply a front man with Sonia Gandhi pulling the strings in the background.. Manmohan was a complete and utter failure to Sikhs. He even failed to support the cause of Sikhs having difficulties with their Dastaars being searched at European airports. He had one of the biggest killers of Sikhs in 84 in his cabinet Kamal Nath.. Any Sikh who speaks the truth will never be allowed by the Indian estsblisment to get into any real position of power. Manmohan Singh should have resigned years ago if he can't stand for Sikhi principles.. Another failure like Zail Singh...

  2. New customs form for arriving in India from January 1 Press Trust of India | Updated On: December 31, 2013 16:44 (IST) New Delhi: All passengers coming to India will have to fill in a new detailed customs form on their arrival from Wednesday, January 1, 2014, according to official sources. It will help authorities check duty frauds and cases of under-valuation as well keep a record of gold jewellery and bullion being brought into the country. Also from January 1, Indian citizens will have to fill up immigration form only when they go out. There will not be any immigration form for Indians returning from abroad, the sources said. The 'Indian Customs Declaration Form' carries additional fields for declaration of dutiable and prohibited goods and seeks details different from the detachable perforated strip which is part of the immigration card at the moment, they said. For the first time, travellers would be asked to specifically declare any prohibited articles, gold jewellery (over free allowance), gold bullion and Indian currency exceeding Rs. 7,500 in the new form. The passengers will have to provide details of countries visited in the past six days and mention their passport numbers on the new form, which was not there earlier. Whereas, old fields, like declaration of satellite phone, foreign currency exceeding $5,000 or equivalent, aggregate value of foreign exchange including currency exceeding $10,000 or equivalent, meat, meat products, dairy products, fish or poultry products and seeds, plants, fruits, flowers and other planting material, have been retained in the new format. The passengers will also have to give details of baggage being carried by them in a separate column instead of pieces of hand baggage and checked in baggage separately. There are 19 international airports in the country - Srinagar, Amritsar, Jaipur, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Nagpur, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Goa, Bengaluru, Chennai, Calicut, Coimbatore, Tiruchirapalli, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Port Blair. 3. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Indian PM Manmohan Gandhi is to retire... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-25585033 Manmohan, an economist who was an unexpected choice for the top post in 2004, has been one of India's longest serving prime ministers. But his image has taken a beating in recent months, especially over a slew of corruption scandals. Also, of late, his position has been undermined by the growing influence of Rahul Gandhi, the latest member of the influential Nehru-Gandhi dynasty (that deceived and murdered Sikhs) who is widely projected as the Congress Party's next leader. He acknowledged that he had been unable to tackle corruption and inflation and also generate jobs - all major concerns with the voters. But he said history would judge him kindly... So how will Sikhs judge Manmohan's term as a prime minister? There are those who would argue that Manmohan has been the least effective of India's PM's ever. He might be a nice person but then so are all front men. A Nehru-Gandhi chela (servant) he did little or nothing for Sikhs. He could not stand up for the turban against other nations. He could not bring justice for Sikhs, for sufferers of Sikh mass murder and genocide. He could not change anti-Sikh policies.

  4. Gurfateh ji! Over the years we have seen some amazing posters for camps, kirtan darbaars, youth events, uni sikh soc events, talks, workshops etc. Most of these are made and circulated in one area, and never used again. Our proposal, is very simple; Lets be efficient! Lets reuse some of these amazing posters in different areas. So, if you have made a poster for any event using photoshop could you please send that to us (via a dropbox or other website link) in the photoshop file/or other editing software file so we can: 1) use the poster for events 2) start building up a database of amazing posters which people can use and distribute for free. Amazing posters are the start to an amazing event. Just makes parchaar that bit easier!!! If you have posters which you are willing to share please email them to: 1gseva@gmail.com Dhanvaadh, For English talks and katha: www.1guk.com

  6. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Sukhi Bhaji, nice to see you saw the satirical comment. Dharmi Bhaji, a number of good points. Unfortunately (for Sikhs), Manmohan had a unique opportunity and failed to heal wounds between communities; failed to stand up for Sikhs; failed as a role model for Sikhs and failed to be a Sikh patron. Where are his list of achievements in the name of Sikhi? Was he just a 'nice man in a turban'? Has Manmohan ever called for Article 25 of the Indian Constitution (which says Sikhs are hindus) to be repealed? http://www.discoversikhism.com/sikh_library/english/constitution_of_india.html There are many pictures showing Manmohan bowing, visiting and taking part in mandir event's and showing his masters how a 'nice man in a turban' can be trained to behave. Have yet to see a picture where he bowed in front of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Unilke, Manmohan there have been many world leaders who have never forgotten their roots; participating and repaying the communities they came from in full. Both Sonia and Indira Gandhi adopted lion cubs. One stayed as a cub, the other turned into a ferocious lion that could not be controlled. His roar was famous, his name was 'Jarnail Singh' and he was from Bhindran.

  7. Manmohan singh is a person who has caused world peace for 10 years (2004-2014) when our planet was entering modernisation ,industrialisation on a large scale.. Though people usually have a nature of doing ninda of someone or the other and manmohan singh has been a part of their topic but his nature which is full of peace ,calmness ,patience is a quality which is rare . These 10 years (1 generation gap ) was very unusual . This time period has totally changed lifestyle of people all over world in the name of modernisation like increase of vehicles ,tall buildings ,eating spots, internet, communication and these things can now be found in every part of earth .But at the same time it was a particular tension among countries which would have turned into an world war type but it was manmohan singh (specially seated by god for this purpose ) who was cause of peace when terror attacks took place in mumbai and when pakistan and china captured some indian points in kashmir.Had it been some other p.m. it was enough reason for an war .Similarily manmohan singh was a reason for advising U.N.O.and america to tackle situations with peace instead of weapons. But it is 100 % sure that with manmoham singh leaving his place ,a change in world affairs will take place. Manmohan singh has clearly said on 3 january 2014 (by the power of his experience of 10 years on highest post of a country with 4th largest army power ) that if a person like narendar modi who is extremely violent, arrogant, proudy, clever becomes a p.m. it would be DISASTROUSfor the country .Note his word disastrous,he could have said dangerous but he said disastrous .Why because he has sensed the present tension among countries and a person like narendar modi (enemy of peace ,truth and dharam lovers) becoming p.m. and the result of it ,ofcourse it is clear .

Simply pointed out a separate thread would have been better and this discussion deflects fom 8 June 2014 event. Comments about those disrespecting Sikh identity is aimed at one or two that have been active on social media, TVi.e Bhajan Singh. I find most moneh are very respectful to the Sikh identity.

  17. The 30-minute programme last night on the Sikh Channel was heavily edited and quite confusing. Gurdwaras and Sikh organisations appear not to have been consulted and may not be supporting the event by organising transport. The organisers have provided no details despite several requests. The organisers who keep emphasising the Sikh identity is not important (!) are expecting mainstream media coverage, but said they had not yet issued a press release! There was talk of inviting Lords, MPs and interfaith groups on the eve of the event, but it was unclear if contact had been made and any were attending It is debateable if a protest on New Year's Eve in London involving Chaupai Sahib will attract the mainstream media and non-Sikhs. It is also questionable given many of the public that will be out and about will be preparing to celebrate and bring in the New Year. The organisers may also be organising a rival event (in Hyde Park) to the Remembrance March and Freedom Rally on Sunday 8 June 2014 being organised by the Federation of Sikh Organisations (FSO) that has widespread support from Gurdwaras and SIkh organisations.

  21. that sort of stuff seems modern to me. Back in the day dont matter if you had a pagh or cut hair. If you lived outside Southalls Birminghams, you were a tiny minority of a slightly bigger ethnic minority of blacks and paks who equally could turn on you, if you didnt get it from the Working classes. So when apneh saw each other other there was affinity. As communities grew bigger Punjabis the Unity fractures, splinter into this that. We used to get pangeh all the time from chitteh kaleh gangs when we were like 15 16. Hit 17 go into Southall get hyped up apneh. Total opposite, eyes glaring at each other?? It dont matter who or what you are, community spirit is lacking. You can make excuses on rehat, this that other, the bottom line is things have changed, some of good some for bad.. If we had a Solid leadership in Gurdwara i reckon that could create a brill focal point on community building again.. People get peed off with tribalism groups, you look like this, i drive a merc you got a chitty chitty bang bang, im this jatha your that splintering.. 20 years ago you would not even be able to walk down certain areas and rds without getting a bar coming your way. When that happens you dont give a monkeys whos got a pagh or whos a mona. You were judged by actions of what you did and words you carried. I know Some ace singhs and monai who held it down, all you guys probably do that bloke was probably your uncle. Ones a Singh his best mate was a mona. If you ever met Bhai Rama Singh they would encourage community things of togetherness. Youth of today on all sides have let their Forefathers down. If we had to work our butts off 3 jobs in 1964 provide for a family, yourself, save a little to help open a gurdwara, no health n safety at work, crapped over by Managers, accepting racism as a reality to overcome our poverty, hoping the world will change, all the bs goes aside. Ancestors did noto face that to watch our communities divide off and yes you had monai and singhs then too.

  22. You get the same in both boats. There are some monay, who feel that they are not restricted, so they can do what they want. At the same time they give impressions that the amritdharis are tied down and have to stick to their rehat -They look at this in a degrading manner. On the other had, there are full pagh- dhari and amritdhari sikhs that may not pay too much attention to monas and tend to ignore them....but this is not the picture as a whole. Some of these feelings do come quite naturally and we all have to try to not be prejudice. I know , because i was a mona all my life for over 35 years and back then i would always see a singh as a singh. This means that i always gave my natural respect to a paghwala Singh, whether they had full dhari/trimmed, amritdhari or not... However, now that I haven't cut my hair in a few years, i notice that whenever I am out and i see a Singh with a trimmed beard- I naturally think to myself '' he trims it !''. Sometimes, i get a taxi and when i see a full sardar, i feel a natural sense of being more relaxed. I know it's a little nauhghty, but i have to tell myself to be Equal and Fair. These are natural weaknesses that we all have but we have to confront them and admit them to ourselves to be able to conquer them. If someone out there claims that they are NOT inclined to some sort of prejudice, then they are only lying to themselves and making their own battle with the 5 chor even harder.

  23. Yes there are some such sikhs and they are wrong if they think they are better the everyone else, but there are also many judgemental moneh who look for negative things in amritdharis but can not see their own faults, there main arguments is we are are not amritdhari so its ok for us to do / be the way we are, my answer to this is why is it ?, you refuse to follow your Guru's basic teachings e.g. do not cut your hair, Drink alcohol, smoke etc but you point the finger at people who are trying to follow Guru ji but do have faults because no one is perfect except Waheguru / Guru ji (who are the one and the same). We should not look at other peoples faults but look at our own. There are many good amritdhari sikhs out there who do some excellent work like Bhai Jugraj Singh ji of basics of sikhi who do not think they are better than any one else and are trying to help the youth, look at the positive people and the negative in yourself. No offence intended but i too get fed up of judgemental moneh always criticizing amritdharis, why dont they take amrit and show everyone how it should be done, rather than look at the faults in amritdharis!

  24. The following story is from Katha by Giani Avtar Singh Ji - Badni Kalan Wale. Giani Avtar Singh Ji is the grandson of Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale. The katha is entitled "Sikhi di Rehit," it can be found on gurmatveechar.com About 20 years ago, a family in India was blessed to have a Sri Akhand Paath Sahib of Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj at their house. Giani Avtar Singh Ji attended the Sri Akhand Paath Sahib. The Paathi Singhs recited the Paath with complete Maryada. The reason for the Akhand Paath was that a young man (youth) in the family had recently died. After his death, the soul of the young man was wandering and eventually the soul possessed his brother. After entering into his brother's body, the soul spoke and requested that the family should do a Sri Akhad Paath Sahib for him. Giani Ji in his katha says that through this sakhi, we will understand the importance of Gurbani and also the importance, need and greatness of the Sikh identity given to us by Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. After the soul requested that an Akhand Paath be done for him, the family members went to a few places to seek help in performing the Sri Akhand Paath Sahib. Eventually, the family came to Giani Avtar Singh Ji and asked him for help. They requested full tyaar par tyaar Singhs (always ready, spiritually elevated Khalsa Singhs) to do the seva of the Akhand Paath Sahib. Giani Avtar Singh Ji discussed this with some Gurmukh Singhs and they agreed, then they began the Akhand Paath seva. Giani Avtar Singh Ji mentions that he was present at the Bhog (completion) of the Sri Akhand Paath Sahib. That day, the brother of the dead young man was present there too. It is assumed in the Katha, that the soul of the dead young man would enter and leave the body of his brother from time to time. The family then prepared some food for Giani Avtar Singh Ji and the Singhs. The brother of the dead man was sitting there too. Other family members were present. Then suddenly, the brother began to feel dizzy and was unaware of his surroundings, he then closed his eyes. The family knew exactly what was going on. The family told Giani Avtar Singh Ji that the soul of the dead man is entering into his brother's body now. Giani Ji says that after hearing this, he was carefully paying attention to see if they were just pretending or not. Then, while speaking to the brother who was possessed, Giani Ji asked, "What is your name?" Then Giani Ji asked, "What was the purpose of you coming back if you had already died?" Then the soul spoke and said "I wasn't supposed to die yet, I still had some years left in my life. What happened was, I became unconscious after being electrocuted. Then my family members put milk into my mouth (thinking it might help). I had no idea what was going on. Due to my family pouring milk into my body, I died, because after a person is electrocuted, water/liquid should not be given to that person." Giani Ji continued speaking with the soul, and then an important question was asked, "After dying, where did you go?" Giani then pauses the story for a moment, mentioning that only the souls who have died can tell us these things (about the after life). People like us who are still living don't have the knowledge on these matters. Continuing on, Giani Ji mentions that the soul replied, "I was taken to a very bad place, hell." "They took me there (Jamdoots - Angels of Death) and I was very miserable and grieving in pain, just by being there." Giani Ji then asks, "How did you get released from there?" Soul replied, "One day, the head person (Dharam Raja) came there to inspect and see what was going on." Giani Ji then explains, that whatever body the soul was in before death, those same qualities are then carried on to the after life. The soul mentioned, that he was kesdhari (kept uncut hair) before his death. Soul continues saying, "When the head person saw that I was kesdhari, he ordered that I be taken out of hell. Then the head person asked me if I have ever done Paath (Sikh prayers). I replied that I only used to do Paath of Jap Ji Sahib before my death, but not other Gurbani prayers and I have never let scissors touch my hair. Then the head person told me that because of these 2 things: not cutting your hair and doing Jap Ji Sahib Paath, you will be released from hell. If you hadn't done these good deeds, you would've been in hell for ages, who knows how long!" The soul continues on saying, "I then remembered the sakhi when Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj was explaining to a Sikh named Bhai Dhana Ji, that if a Sikh who has never cut his hair enters into hell, I will pull him out of hell by the hair on his head." Giani Ji explains that the soul was freed from hell because he had never cut his hair and also he had done Paath of Sri Jap Ji Sahib. This is what caused the soul to enter his brother's body, in order to relay the message to his family, to request that an Akhand Paath Sahib be done for him. Gurbani's power is limitless. It helps us here and in the after life. Even souls that have already died are thirsting for Gurbani and its power. Dhan Dhan SatGuru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.
