Of course a party which has perpetrated all the crimes shown in these movies would want to ban this movie. The surprising thing is, In India movies on Kashmiri/Muslim militancy, Naxalite/Maoist militancy, Mafias, sexuality and violence can be shown and no one will raise an eye brow but a movie on the injustices the Sikhs went through during the 80s/90s gets banned. Hope this movie does not get banned. And if it becomes a success, hope more such movies are made. I think directors have now seen that sikhi based movies are what people want. Any movie on Sikh struggle during the 80s/90s becomes an automatic hit. Animation like Chaar Sahibzade and movie like Eh Janam Tumhare Lekhe are a success. Nanak Shah Fakir also looks like a good movie.

The purpose of sikhi in my viewpoint is to reach the stage level where we will find Anand of guru shabad. That stage level is so high that it can't be compared with any other Worldly desires. That stage is also the reason how one Sikh can't feel the pain of being sawed in half or burned alive. Naturally, desires should stay between husband and wife and it's fine by my view. But if outside of home, a random girl/lady/boy passing by and a person take a look at her 'check it out' NOW I consider that as the lust and a sin.

I agree with As khalsa and disagree with jagsaw aka WSL. multiculturalism was ok till the late 80s. haha I take Sikhs parents who refuse marriages because of caste issues/societal values very seriously cuz they need some knowledge dropped on their heads. If you convinced your dad that caste is absolutely non-existent and he agrees but he still worries about society tell him you still have family to resolve your issues in the end. Your dad should know Sikhs don't worry about public's opinion or societal values in the end. The chances if your partner and you are an absolute match there will be slight to none problems in the future. Hope all the best.

OP, have you spoken to your parents and told them that their logic of caste is wrong and if they do not listen tell them they belong to a low caste and also make them aware of the the fact how Sikhism has lifted their social status from being downtrodden, oppressed people under the hindu caste system to what they are now.
