  1. You may surely ask and you are most welcome How and what people think, that is up to them, the thing is, in Guru Granth Sahib, our Gurus tell us, that the Light is in each and everyone, moreover He Himself is the Light. So you see, Guru Jee is saying that that formless God, is all Light, and it is so to say, that very flame or a ray of that Light, permeates in all beings. Bodies are not our reality, but just mere coverings, which one day shall decay and perish away. The souls are immortal, and same in radiance/refulgence and purity in all beings, for all have emanated from Him. There are no such different creators for different races, cultures or creeds. Just imagine, if the mighty Ocean, has no nationality, caste color or creed, what caste, creed or color will the drops of that Ocean have? If the Sun has no caste, creed, or nationality, what caste, creed, or color, will have the simple rays emanating from that Sun? We see shapes, colors , sizes, genders due to the gross matter bodily coverings, and also subtle coverings such as mental ones on the soul, but again, the souls are same in all beings, which carry His Light and purity. If at all there ever there are any differences, that is at the mind level. It is the mind which makes one a devil, a wicked, a thief, a thug, a hermit, an angel or a good human being. It all depends how pure is the mind. The more the mind is purer, the more the virtues are visble in that person or being. The more of dirt accumulated on that particular mind, the more that person is full of vices and negativity, and has tendency for hatred, anger, lust, jealous, egoistic, arrogant, bullying, and so on ..... Once we are able to remove the dirt from our minds, then we all have His same refulgence of light and wisdom. So sister, Sikhs have quite a broad mind outlook, thus more tolerant, thanks to the teachings of our beloved Gurus. For we know all are His created beings. He created them all, so whom to complain or what for? Can He make mistakes like us foolish people and then try to repair them? If no is the answer, then why so much fuss and hatred? There is a famous saying, which says: it is good to pray anywhere you may want to , but it is more important how you treat others with truthfullness and honesty, otherwise none of your prayers shall be accepted at His court/door. I would suggest you to go through the Granth Sahib by yourself, and discover the precious spiritual jewels contained in it, and not because of that you should fear from being converted in any way, but just see and realize, the inmense wisdom and the inmense love of the Lord for His souls. Just in few words, sikhee is mainly characterized for being a path of transformation, not by words but by the deed of folowing implicitly the teachings of Guru Sahiban with love and devotion, by first becoming a good human being, in order to become that much pure, that in the end, by His Grace alone, the soul sikh, merges in the Lord Satnam/Waheguru/Ikoankar. Sister, stay blessed. Sat Sree Akal.

  3. As Sikhs we follow what our Gurus did. If Gurus celebrated Gurpurbs according to Bikrami calendar then as their faithful Sikhs we will also celebrate Gurpurbs according to Bikrami calendar. After the fall of the Sikh Khadku (militant) movement the Indian government wanted to infiltrate Sikh ranks and start such controversies that would make Sikhs fight each other instead of our external enemies. The dasam bani and calendar issue is such an example. The calendar was first introduced by purewal who was a lifelong faithless communist. When he came to introduce his calendar he was a Mona during the early 90s. Dr Anurag Singh who saw him then says how no one took him seriously because of this. He then decided to keep his kesh for this very reason. CM Beanta who had just brutally suppressed the Sikhs then gave purewal his break when the Punjab government of Beanta first published purewal's calendar from the funds intended for the Punjab school board books this resulted in purewal getting backing from the government and somewhat acceptance from universities which until then had discarded his earlier attempts. At first Sikhs did not understand the science behind calendars and most were fooled by this faithless Communist purewal. But as awareness has grown opposition has now also grown. Purewal has been challenged to debates by knowledgeable Singhs like bhai Jaswant Singh ji from California but purewal does not accept out of fear of losing

  4. Yep africans are a whole different kettle of fish. Many are highly educated. Its the Caribbean lot who are very criminally minded and who give black people a bad name. Not sure why britian let so many of these lafangeh in. Probably as they are christian and so share the same religion as them. Many carry their hatred for asians from were they came from as carribean also has a Asian community which is very distinct and unique. These cariibeans think asians are a soft community. In birmingham they realised that us brownies are not soft and are up for a fight if we are pushed. Jamaicans are worse of the lot.

  5. I think the "sikhs" that turned against sikhs were hungry for power and wealth. In fact you still see this today, greedy fat Fcks hungry for power exploiting their own people. They sided with the central gov for their own benefit, central gov were pulling the strings and giving presents to these traitors

  7. Women generally find it hard to gel with their in law's. But her real problem isn't because she is a divorcee, it is the reality she is facing that as a woman in her late 30's, she is going to find it hard to marry a guy because of her age. She knows she may not be as pretty as when she was in her 20's. She left it for 5 years before looking again into her 30's. Her grandmother being an older wiser woman knew instinctively that there is a shelf life for women in the marriage market and that looks aren't going to last forever. Some of the posters here may think that age does not matter but if there is a 35 year old man and he had a choice between a 38 year old woman or a 30 year old woman, it's a no brainer which one he would prefer. Men are attracted to youth because biologically we are looking for fertility in women.

  8. Is It Ok To Read The Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji In English? It is ok to read it in any language you are comfortable, provided you have checked with someone near to you who can tell you how accurate that one is to the Adi Granth as per translation wise. But then, just do not read it as parrots do, means with speed but without understanding the meaning in it. So do not rush, read if needed several times each ang, and try to analyze from different angles what Guru Sahiban wants to convey us in that Bani, and in addition to this, listen some kathas from the net, related to the Bani from some advanced Katha keertan sevadars... To start with, I will highly recommend you to listen to Sant Maskeen Singh Jee, his voice quality and explanations of the depth of the Bani are very good and inspiring, and this paves the road for us to walk on the path of spirituality with confidence and faith, by His grace. Stay blessed. Sat Sree Akal.

  12. I will have to agree with veer Chatanga as these puratan saroops themselves are not consistent in the manner Gurbani was scribed. It seems that the overzealous writers of this "news" article did not have all the facts on hand when they put this article together. The truth is that pretty much 100% Saroops printed or scribed today do not have the same text and lagga-matra as the original Damdami Birr. Contrary to all the claims by various Sikh institutions, it is an accepted fact that the Panth no longer has in it's possession the original Damdami Birr or a direct copy of it. Despite the fact that Sikhs are the only people that considers their scriptures as "Guru", as a Panth, we have no system or procedures to check for the accuracy of the text that is either written or published as a saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. In the past much of the blame of this carelessness had been thrown on Nirmala and Udasee scribes of the 18th and 19th century - some of it unfairly since it was the Panth's duty to independently verify the accuracy of this seva. Consider the manner how the Jewish Torah, which Jews do not even consider as their Guru, is precisely handwritten and exhaustibly reviewed for accuracy and can be invalidated even if a single error is made in the text. Does this mean Jews have more respect for the Torah than we have for Guru Granth Sahib Ji? At least it seems like it in all practicality. Sadly, most handwritten saroops and published saroops contain hundreds of variations and differences in the Gurbani text and lagga-matra. Nothing is ever done about it, in fact, in due time, those saroops themselves become the source for text when new Saroops are written or published. At a Panthic level, no effort has being made to identify and preserve the original Gurbani text and lagga-matra, except by the late Bhai Joginder Singh Talwara, along with Vedanti Ji who spent more than 20 years researching puratan Saroops - many of them have since perished due to the 1984 attack and general neglect. Additionally, no effort has been made to implement fruits of their invaluable research. More than 50 years ago, Udasai Harnam Daas (formerly known as the Budha Dal Nihang Naurang Singh, who compiled and standardized Sarabloh Granth after years of researching Sri Dasam Bani and Guru Granth Sahib Ji's Bani), finally concluded that the the not only was the Kartarpuri Birr (currently with the Sodhi family) not the original Birr but that he had not come across an accurately scribed Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib in all the years of his research. The ardously compiled "Paatth Bhedan Dee Soochee" by Bhai Randhir Singh (SGPC Research Scholar), Giani Kundan Singh, and and Bhai Gian Singh Nihang illustrates the wide differences of text across the widely known puratan Saroops housed by the Panth. The sad truth is nothing is being done to solve this most serious dilemma. In the digital media, these inaccuracies are now being imported into Gurbani search engines, and mobile apps and thus the errors continue to proliferate exponentially.. Instead of blaming each other, fighting over petty issues, perhaps the priority of the Panth should be to revive the research to standardize on the most "sudh" printing of the Damdami Saroop - shabd by shabd, akhar by akhar, lagga-matra by lagga matra. Guru bakshish karay!
