  1. I completed grade 9 in punjab. I was there a year and I learned it. Reading and writing Gurmukhi is actually easy Its not a hard language. But understanding Gurbani was difficult for me. I use to read the translations but now I'm learning from basics of sikhi channel on YouTube. I also brushed up on my Gurmukhi from the basics of sikhi channel as well. I recommend anyone who wants to learn check then out on YouTube

  3. I dont know man. Mixed race kids face many issues. From identity issues to language barriers to having a hodge podge religion. And the kids will be part of globalixation and culture will erode over time. White and black ppl have undergone this in america and it has terrible consequences. Only if 1 culture/religion/language is allowed to be dominant will it work.

  7. Nah. We need our ppl to be better. And to choose better leaders. Cuz any institution and type of government can be corrupted in the hands of selfish ppl. We had masands. Knowledgeable scholars who spent whole life and for generations serving gurudware. That failed. So then we had SGPC. which we fought to create and give shaheedian for. And now we hate it. We had akaali party. Same thing. Now taksaals going that route. Ppl r starting to hate it. I mean even a parchaar and education movement got corrupted. The missionaries. In kulyug.everything gets rotten and corrupt. Theres no fool proof. Only thing we can do is be vigilant that our institutions arent going downhill. Instead of scraping them n restarting

  8. Two things: I think it's a complete fabrication that such things are limited to mirpuris. There have been plenty of sullay punjabis involved, as well as pathaans. Remember once the girls are 'turned' they can be sold off to others too - like eastern european pimps. These people offer the 'service' in 'stables' and having a mix of ethnicities is like having a wider range of 'product'. Also, being spread apart can work against us - as the perpetrators rely on isolation.

  11. If you expose a state for it's handling of things like humans right abuses, don't expect them to play fair. Such is the state of politics. They come for you and they come for your family. Know your enemy and what they are capable of. Never go in blind. Understand how they work and operate and be willing to understand the sacrifices you may have to make. This is warfare. The nature of war does not always involve swords and blood figuratively. Shasters come in different forms.

He made the comments, which observers say are his clearest remarks yet on gay relationships, in a documentary directed by Evgeny Afineevsky. "Homosexual people have a right to be in a family," he said in the film, which premiered on Wednesday.

  19. 70 Billion Gallons Wastage of Water on lawns everyday in US alone. I also did google search for you and please stay with one guest name. Homeowners spend billions of dollars and typically use 10 times the amount of pesticide and fertilizers per acre on their lawns as farmers do on crops; the majority of these chemicals are wasted due to inappropriate timing and application. These chemicals then runoff and become a major source of water pollution.Last but not least, 30 to 60 percent of urban fresh water is used on lawns. Most of this water is also wasted due to poor timing and application. Many home irrigation systems are wasteful; they spray sidewalks or over water, leading to water running right off into the drain. While it is impossible to know the exact amount of water used on lawns on a daily basis across the entire country, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that 30% of the average household’s water use is outdoors, and half of that is to water lawn.

  22. You say you think you are lying by keeping hair. Who do you think you should be if you have hair? And why do you think this? Would you really ever be satisfied with you who you are to be worthy of being called a gursikh? The fact is we are all supposed to consider ourselves unworthy. So if you are thinking you don't match up to being a gursikh with the appearance, you are actually being a perfect Sikh because guru sahib wants us to be humble. That person who thinks they are not a gursikh is the most worthy to have the appearance of a Sikh because they are focusing on their demerits and not feeling boastful about the good they do. That person who thinks they are worthy of Sikhi is the one who is destined to fall. Breaking Amrit now will cause you more turmoil as you are not aware of the spiritual disruptance it will cause inside you. *DELETED* Just be a basic Sikh, I assure you it is fine. The guru says keep your hair, following the guru can never lead to unhappiness. However, not following the guru, i.e. leaving Amrit will definitely cause you unhappiness. Guru sahib has already told is this in gurbani to save us the misery of trying it out ourselves. Trust what the guru says. Only what the guru says can lead to happiness and everything else leads to misery. souoo ganeeaai sabh te uoochaa ||

  24. With respect, you're missing the point. I don't doubt genuine Gursikhs are in high demand, but they deserve a partner of equal standing in terms of mentality and spirituality. What they don't deserve is being coerced into a marriage under false pretences, which is the subject I was discussing earlier. What's worse is these Singhs are, as you rightly said, so sheltered from reality that they believe these girls are willingly seeking them out for marriage based purely on attraction or the individual Singh's merits as a personality and an individual. No, what's actually happening is comparable to the phenomenon that white people traditionally refer to as a "shotgun wedding," only in this instance the marriage is not being hastily undertaken to conceal an unexpected pregnancy (which is usually an agreement between BOTH male and female to be married), but instead a close relative of the girl is charged with finding a hapless, gullible Singh (somebody who won't ask too many questions) in order to "get rid" of the problematic girl in marriage terms. Usually, from the many cases I've seen which has necessitated this type of action, the girl has ended up biting off more than she can chew. She's embroiled herself in a situation where her hedonism and no-consequence mentality that's she's cultivated throughout her teens and early-20s, has lead her to disgrace herself, usually in some sort of grave sexual-related circumstances. Once the drama of retrieving her or removing her from the scene of her transgressions has died down, a plan is hatched to foist her onto an unsuspecting young man. Unfortunately for her these acts have been revealed to her family -- and in an effort to eliminate any possible chance of public scandal and disgrace --they have hastily moved to marry her off to the exact opposite type of character with whom she preferred to wile away her leisure time, i.e. an upstanding, respectable, naive religiously-minded young man. Perfect cover for a female who's conducted herself in a totally opposite manner. What's most disturbing is the fact that these girls are, in essence, implicitly instructed by the so-called matchmaker (as i said, a close relative of the girl's side) to gently seduce the Singh (usually at a religious get-together -- which is why AKJ with its regular rehanbhais has developed an unlikely reputation for unknowingly "hosting" these kinds of social interactions), so that he believes their meeting is organic and definitely not pre-arranged. Clearly, one thing leads to another, and the Singh's ego is pandered to, the idea being that he must be made to believe that he's managed to capture the attention of this otherwise, objectively, very attractive Sikh girl, purely on HIS terms. The male is ego is such that it refuses to acknowledge certain stark realities about the world we live in and the type of social trends and moods that necessitate issues pertaining to attraction between the sexes, etc. He either lacks the intellectual faculties to be honest with himself as to why such a girl would seek him out, or he is so seized by lustful feelings and the overwhelming attention of the female, that he puts aside any critical thinking he may possess. Long story short, the aim is to conceal the female's transgressions using the Singh's reputation and demeanour as a cover. The girl, and by extension her family, are saved from public disgrace. I'm all for rehibilitation. NOBODY is perfect. People make mistakes all the time. It's human nature to err. Everyone deserves a second chance. The problem I have in the situation I've described above is the deception that is executed in order to ensnare the Singh. None of the sordid acts leading up to the apparent random interaction between the girl and the Singh are ever revealed to the Singh. Why? Because if he knew what kind of girl he was being paired-up with, he'd run a mile. The biggest black mark against the girl in these situations is this: She's not really sorry for what she did. If she's sorry about anything, it's that she was rumbled. She hasn't rehabilitated herself or even displayed any sense of being contrite. There's never been a process of introspection or even the most cursory look inside herself at how she might have been wrong in the life that she lead. It's always about keeping THAT secret. Had she not overstepped her limits, she would never have stopped living the life that she was enjoying so much. What self-respecting, upstanding Sikh of the Guru would ever willingly enter such a situation with a partner as I've described above?

  29. I really dnt worry or bother about the kind of people in the video. Most people from other communities know there is a difference between actual religious Sikhs then the other kind like the ones in the video. In my last job this paki kid was telling me how the sikh boys used to mess around in his school but then he said to me that he can tell that I'm the religious "type". Iv had other people say similar stuff like "the really religious Sikhs with blue turbans" or "sikh sect with blue turbans" iv had people say "your people" referring to religious sikhs that dont eat meat, differentiating us from the regular punjabis . Iv had a gora ask me which type of sikhi I am if I am the religious sikh or not religious sikh. I had a polish woman inviting me to a after work party and she was like "you obviously dont drink but you can still come" I never even told her I dnt drink lol Most people from other communities know there is a difference you would be surprised lol It seems a blue dumalla is associated with religious sikhs and it rightly should.

  31. As Gursikhs say Sher naal SHerani phubdi bandari nahin....you want a steady brave lioness by your side or a gossipy/fashionpitti bandari? well if you turn your back on Guru ji be sure he will keep his word and withdraw his blessings and protection in full. When you look in the mirror you are looking at the reflection of Guru pita ji's son if you consider that ugly I feel sorry for you

  32. So what kind of girl do you think you will land by being a mona? Do you think she will recommend sikhi to you? We came into the world for a totally different reason. Read sehaj path regularly and strengthen your relationship with God. Nothing in this world is true..... remember. No bhagat or Guru ji ever said they will pause their sikhi and come back to it. The sahibzadhe, young as they were gave their lives. Didn't they want all the nice girls promised to them? Every breath is precious. Fill it with gurbani. Do not waste your time. Enjoy bhagti dha rass, not praises and dispraise from the world.

  35. Beautiful reply. Thanks for your support. Yes I will look into that. I would like to do more research about the Nihangs before I go out to find them. I am a bit of an extremist. im either a Punjabi gangster mona, or trying to be that perfect Saint amritdhari lol. I need to find a balance. I might keep my hair. I don't know. I feel like it's not really me though. I'm pretending to be something I'm not. When I took amrit my son started growing his hair too. That was 2 years ago. I didn't force him. I think he feels like I abandoned ship leaving him on it. Maybe in his mind he thinks we took this journey together and now I'm leaving. He's upset with me right now. I'm just tired of living a lie. That's all. I'm born in Canada and 34 years of my life I was just a Canadian mona. These last 2 years I'm somebody else. I look in the mirror everyday and I see a lie. Pretending to be something I'm not. I'm not comfortable with that part yet. Maybe it will take time. Maybe I should cut my hair step back and see how I feel. If I miss being a singh, then I know the answer. I'll grow my hair again but this time take things slow. And when I take amrit this time I will take it with my wife. I believe its better that way. We can follow the path together and support each other. Don't get me wrong. Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj has been great support for me. Sometimes I think I took amrit for all the political reasons with khalistani's. To be apart of a movement. The head granthi at the gurdwara even told me to take it easy and not focus too much on the political side of it yet. He told me to focus on Bani. He was right. Anyways ill have to think long and hard about this a bit more. I'll consider your advice as well. Its good advice. Thank you very much for your support.
