  1. Nihang chakarwarti fauj can use bit of alcohol to get some relaxation, sleep and rest but Nihang Dharam Singh is promoting alcohol for every sikh. Anyone knows his background and what he is up to?

  2. Alcohol is a gateway to all other types of addictions and vices. If you want to drink, drink,no one is stopping you, drink till you pass out,no problem, but why use Sikhi to cover up your own decision to get hammered and escape reality?

  6. I say that it is poison and I back up my statement by those I know that have ruined their life with drinks.Totally good for nothing useless human garbage that are only interested in their next peg.Useless to themselves, their family and the larger community.Since childhood I have been brought up being told alcohol is poison and in adulthood I know that is true.Other than medical use, it has no place in a Sikhs life. Not only Sikhs, alcohol has no place in any humans life. This world would be a much better place without this damned drink. It is the panj doot in concentrated form. Authentic or not,I don't know, but what you typed can be interpreted in many ways and of course those advocating nasha would interprete it as they wish.Personally I feel ashamed that any Sikh would claim that Guruji advocated the use of alcohol. That's the lowest one can go in justifying their own alcohol addiction. To me that's a mark of a coward. If they want to do it,say proudly they want it and dont care what others think. No need to justify it by linking it with the Gurus. I wouldn't be surprised if next they say the Guru says it's ok to lie with a prostitute during winter nights as it warms the body and is good for our vitals. But remember, only during winter!

  7. Completely agree but there was a time where you could help and know that you'd done the right thing but it's not as clear cut any more. I remember years ago my eldest uncle and aunt came home after a wedding to find some guy in there house trying to rob them, he came in through the kitchen door round the back, my uncle's a pretty hefty dude and he tackled the kid and grabbed him, my aunt ring the police and they said they were on there way, 40 minutes passed and no one turned up, my uncle ended up ring the police again and hen told them that he had the kid in a headlock to stop him running (he didn't, he locked him in the garage), the police turned up 5 minute's later, my uncle was told that if the kid who tried to rob them was injured while he apprehended him he could face charges, so much for doing the right thing.

  8. It's not just in the US, it's the same in the UK, I'll always ask if i can help if someone is in trouble or look's distressed, I was bought up that way but lately it seems that I'd probably get in more trouble if I helped rather than just leave the situation alone, it's a sorry state of affairs.

  9. This is nothing new, even amongst humans. There are many examples in the Mahabharat/Ramayan/etc. where humans have married devte or even rakhshas etc.

  13. I heard he was told to do pesh at Akal Takht because of his galat parchaar - Compare against gurbani what it says about sharab , and history says what was our downfall adopting the ayash habits of other communities .

  15. I quite like the ideas around a holographic universe / some type of simulation . Ever seen a hologram? It is flat to you... But it looks 3d (if you were in the hologram you'd adamantly say it's 3d, and all your science/evidence within the hologram would be 'of the' hologram so confirm it..but to the external observer it is 2d) Same with simulations when you play things like GTA ..to the character you control that world seems real and 3d..but to you it's a 2d screen (flat). The flat earth thing to me is a matter of perspective. Is your consciousness/observer/ witness 2d, 3d or beyond that? Same goes for folks who adamantly say that past higher civilisations didn't exist...why didn't they exist? Ah they say they didn't leave evidence...but would advanced civilisations (if truly advanced) use materials that don't biodegrade? Is the use of plastics etc that don't break down advanced? As you can see, there are many attempts now to rewrite history right now (erase slave owners, make hero's out of nasty folks etc) do you think this is a new concept? Ego centred humans have been rewriting history for millennia..

  16. As per my limited knowledge, Yug length and the related human lifespan, is only mentioned in the Purans, not in the earlier literature of Veds and Upanishids. I have not seen the lengths of each yug and life spans of humans mentioned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, but only the moral decay of man is stressed upon. If you take the Puran's literal numbers, then you have a massive clash with our current understanding. For example, satyug has a timeframe of over 1.7 million years with humans having a 100,000 year life span and heights of over 30 feet. This progressively decreases by a 1\4 in each yug. This in no way adds up to our current understanding. Look at all the world’s civilizations, nothing much beyond 10,000 years ago. Even hindus themselves believe that Ram was around 1200 BC while Krishna was around 3000 BC ( yes, placing Ram after Krishna). Some sampardaic katha vachaks still preach the Puranic version of yug age, which is understandable, since this was the most used literature in their traditions. Sant Singh Maskeen ji did not follow the Puran model for yugs, they have done beautiful katha on yugs corresponding to the societal mindset of the majority. They have even explained Yug theory according to the progression of civilization using currently accepted dates by the scientific community. I am not criticizing those brothers who hold firm to Puran based Yug theories, since those numbers have been used in our sampardas( with best intentions, since that was the “science” of the time). But a clash is inevitable, as with the rise of “missionaries”. More and more aspects will be scrutinized when current understandings don’t work with old ideas. Good to go back to our core, Gurbani, and find the solution.
