  1. In order to get ANYWHERE in your Jeevan it is vital to take out 2.5 hours for Akaal Purakh, on top of the 7 Daily prayers we all fondly and dutly do. 2.5 hours can be Mool mantar, Gurmantar (1.15 hour on each) or Gurmantar followed by one Sukhmani Sahib (this prayer takes an hour) or three Baanias from Dasam Granth (which could take an hour) followed by going Gurudwara for 1.5 hours of Simran, Seva and Sangat. In short no Matter what u select it should be 2.5 hours minimum, time excluded from 7 Baanias. Now, there are two dangers here. First, "I can't concentrate so I won't do it..." This is something I call Jargon. It's jargon because as soon as we think "Concentrate" we forget about the MAIN MAIN task at hand completely... Which is to do the Naam Simran or selected prayers. "I will do 30 mins woth focus then buold it up..." WRONG! Just do 2.5 straight, focus will come to u slowly. Second danger, "I don't have time" this is an excuse! You have 24 hours for 2.3 hours of Prayers. If u work from 8am you have all the time in Amritvela. To conclude, if u wish for your mann chanchalas to stop, jeevan to succeed, understand God's Hukam, be liberated, 2.5 is just the start.

  2. From Uggardanti by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj: "The victory to the almighty shall be my proclamation. To all, Wahe Wahe (Waheguru) shall be the word to meditate on. Designate the third panth. The Singh warriors shall rise and don blue attire. They will capture and destroy all demons (evil persons) They will sound the melody of victory in the universe."

  4. Its so pathetic when that happens, when celebs say or do something bad and then they make a video, which is normally just an act, like that recent Gurdas Mann video and his sob story, and then all a sudden they're accepted and back again.

  5. I think Jay Sean's done alright for himself, he's carved out a niche and stuck to it. he moved on with his career whereas Juggy D stayed where he was. It's really disappointing that Juggy D hasn't been called out by other artist's, i suppose everyone has something to hide, but if it's true that he beat up his wife then he needs to be called out on it not what is likely to happen which is him making an apology video and people say "Oh, he's not that bad really, look, he's sorry for what he did" and then accept him back into the fold, the man need's to f**k right off.

  13. People forget that the Sikh kaum has our oral history that was passed down and still present within the Dal Panth. It was only because of the initiatives of Akaali Baba Rattan Singh Ji Bhangu, the grandson of Akaali Baba Mehtab Singh Ji Bhangu, with the panth parkash along with other historical texts at the time was that this stuff was documented. Think about it. The fact that people try and claim Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, the one who sacrificed his entire family for the Khalsa panth would remain hidden and leave his beloved panth without guidance is absurd. Especially considering the fact that something as important such as the passing of the Guruship wouldn't have gone unknown.

  14. Brits medaled so hard that they made Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj the Guru? Please provide that info. If we had a living Guru we would know lol. We can look at the tension between the Tat Khalsa and Bandai Khalsa. Additionally, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji most likely probably didn't wear earrings, but Singhs definitely did though, especially during the Sikh Raaj. Most of the pictures of the Gurus were painted amidst the Khalsa Raaj with exception to the Nanded picture that was displayed above. EDIT Forgot to add. We have some contemporary images of the Guru, particularly Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji Maharaj and Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji Maharaj: SatGuru Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji Maharaj. The Sixth Sovereign: SatGuru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji Maharaj. The Ninth Sovereign

  17. Really ? what census would they have in the 1700s that Guru Sahib would participate in. Moreover, in his bani he declared that he has created a separate path for Sikhs And after becoming a Sikh, his caste wouldn't matter... Not that hard to understand. Send me the book and tell me what primary sources he used. Panth Parkash uses stories that were passed down by older generations and Dr. Ganda Singh uses contemporary sources of those who were there with Banda Singh.

  18. Yeah we really are messing nature up. Introducing species into countries that they should not exist in. Dodos went extinct because Europeans took dogs there, Dodos had no natural predators so they had no need to fly and were land birds. When the dogs were introduced there they ate all the Dodos! Camels were shipped into Australia from India/Middle East, when the camels were no longer a use they were released into the wild where they had no natural predator and they multiplied and their numbers got out of hand. Birds were natural pesticides in Punjab, they ate the pests on the crops, but as Punjabis continued cutting trees down, destroying forests, wetlands etc the numbers of birds fell in Punjab and the number of pests on crops increased. The wetlands in Punjab used to be a spot where migrating birds would stop and feed before continuing their migration. But with the destruction of forests, human encroachment and fishermen taking all the fish, less and less birds starting stopping in Punjab. The Baaj, national bird of Punjab is now almost extinct in Punjab! We now have wild pigs wondering around in pinds and fields! Plastering the ground around the Gurdware with marble is stupid, they are suffocating the earth. Soil absorbs water, marble does not, thats why you have so many horrible wet muddy foot prints in Gurdware. Look at what they did to the beri at Harmandir sahib by plastering it with marble, it almost died. Covering the soil with material which doesn't absorb rain will only contribute towards floods, especially in places like Punjab, Himachal which has a lot of rain and rivers. Trees prevent floods, they break the water into small streams which disperses the water. The White tiger is actually deformed, they are almost blind and deaf, but zoo keepers are breading deformed white tigers with other white tigers which only produces even more deformed white tigers. These animals are actually suffering! A lot of white tigers have breathing problems. God just needs to blow this whole planet up and just get rid of everyone!

  21. WJKK WJKFHi, I'm not sure whether your a sikh or of another faith but yes your right, Sikhi is a very peaceful religion. However that does not mean that I can do what I wish. As a sikh, I must live my life within set rules. Hence, why I should only consider the Ten Guru Sahiban, The Shiri Guru Granth Sahib and Akal Purakh Waheguru as my path across the world ocean. Your also right that Christmas Trees were introduced to Britain by the Royals of that time period, however please research the pagan tradition of trees and why trees were used much earlier than Prince Albert. Secondly, Father Christmas/ Santa Claus is a depiction today of Saint Nicholas. Thirdly, the celebration of the prophet of Jesus Christs birth on Christmas came first in terms of religion and commercialisation, whether or not it was actually on that date or not. All the other things mentioned are the commercialisation of Christmas. The religious aspect of Christmas can never be separated. For a sikh to celebrate Christmas is simply manmatt indulging in maya. The fact that these posts are able to be viewed on the net celebrates free speech. There is a huge difference between the extreme anti Western Islamic fanatics and a sikh. I am intergrated into my birth country, Great Britain, I have the legal right to practice my religion and the legal right of free speech, I may not celebrate Christmas however all my neighbours do, which is respected as they respect me when I celebrate my faiths calendar. However that does not by no way mean I have to celebrate Christmas, as my neighbour needs not to celebrate Vaisakhi. It is through mutual respect life on normal streets in towns and cities are lived. I ask as a sikh of no conversion to my religion. I pray to the only one universal creator, I believe in equality of gender, colour and creed, I believe another person should be able to practice their religion right next to me freely, I believe that the person next to me irregards of religion, gender, colour, caste, creed or class is a equal to me, I am no better or no worse, I am no further in merging back with the almighty as they! Thus being why a sikh and the anti western fanatical Islamist have not one iota in common.

  22. WJKK WJKF Veer ji, the Rehat Maryada states that a sikh has no restriction on clothes, other than obviously the panj kakkar. I don't see how wearing jeans or living in a house with carpets has anything to do with celebrating a Christian religious festival. Do you think Sikhs should live in the caves or jungles restricted themselves from all modern/western customs which have nothing to do with religion? Children should have fun, but on vaisakhi, hola mohalla, Bandi chor and the diwas of our gurus and Mahaan shaheed.....not Christmas. Also, no apology?

  23. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਿਹ There is a fine line between integration and assimilation... Assimilation means absorbing minorities into the ways of the majority - requiring them to adopt the majority's language, customs and 'values'. Integration, by contrast, requires acceptance of a country's laws, of human rights such as freedom of speech, and of basic democratic rights, but does not require the eradication of all cultural differences or group-identities; it is conceived of as a two-way process, through which both the majority and the minorities influence and change one another, and in which differences can be peacefully accommodated as long is there a common commitment to living together. How many non-Sikhs want to integrate with Sikhs? how many do you see celebrate Gurpurab's? how many adopt Sikh values? Regardless, we think trees look nicer outside peoples houses. Preferably, with families of tree's called forests.

  24. WJKK WJKF It's funny how people will justify themselves celebrating Christmas with so many endless reasons. Fact of the matter is whether or not the tree is pagan or a Christian symbol, if you live in a European country like the uk and get time of work, it should be spent with the family, especially kids contemplating on the gains and loses the panth went through at that particular time of the year. People can dress it up as they wish, but Christmas is a Christian celebration, the nativity play is enacted across children's schools whether their Christian or not. Christianity can never be taken out of Christmas. By decorating you home with trees or whatever, is only confusion for a young mind living in a multicultural society. We are Sikhs. We celebrate the sikh calendar, yet at the same time respecting our neighbours around us who may celebrate Christmas, Eid or Diwali.

  25. When did I say Guru jee cried? Guru Sahib was one of Vaheguru. Guru Jee is beyond dukh. But the average Sikh when he found out of the Shaheedi of Sahibzaade was sad. When Baba Banda Singh Bahadur became a Singh and learnt of what happened to Sahibzaade, he vowed to do Sodha of the Dushts who had committed the atrocity. The entire Panth wanted to take revenge for what happened and this became a rallying point where Sikhs from Malwa, Doaba and Majha all came together for attack on Sirhind. Wazir Khan and anyone connected to Shaheedi of Sahibzaade was dispatched to Jamlok. So ferocious was the attack by Singhs that Sirhind never recovered after that. And still to date battle of Sirhind is regarded as one of the greatest victories for the Sikhs. There are some events in Sikh history that touches every Sikh in the heart. Shaheedi of Guru Sahibs and Chaar Sahibzaade are such that faithful Sikhs till date get full of Bairaag hearing what happened. In recent times, the attack on Darbar Sahib in 1984 was also such an event which touches the soul of every Sikh. If you want to celebrate an aanmat holiday when the Chaar Sahibzaade became Shaheed that is your choice. But as a Sikh, me and JSinghnz feel we should inform fellow Sikhs that this is really Sharamnaak for a Sikh to celebrate Christmas when something so tragic happened. We should instead remember their Shaheedis and do more Paaths and Simran in remembrance of Guru Gobind Singh Jee

  26. Difference is Vaisakhi is a Sikh holiday not a non Sikh holiday like Christmas, Eid, Honoka, Janamastmi. Christmas(whether you see it as a pagan day or Christ birth day) is not a Sikh holiday. It has no significance for a Sikh. On the other hand, Sahibzaade Shaheedi Divas is right there and then when you are joyfully celebrating Christmas. It is without a doubt one of the most tragic parts of Sikh history. The Sahibzaade Shaheedi is such that even the most stone hearted person who has even an iota of pyar for Guru Gobind Singh Jee is moved to tears hearing it.

  27. Tera Kiya Meetha laage, so this is how you twist meaning of Bani in order to celebrate and party when the Sahibzaade became Shaheeds? history is witness how when the Sahibzaade became Shaheeds, the entire Sikh Panth was sad(not happy like you). They then took a terrible revenge against Wazir Khan and the city of Sirhind. And yes Shia Muslims are better than those Sikhs who have forgotten the Shaheedi of the Sahibzaade and celebrate and live merrily and cheerfully when one of the worst things happened in Sikh history. If you want to celebrate this time of the year, then go to the Gurdwara, do more Paath, Simran in remembrance of Guru Gobind Singh Jee whose matchless sons became Shaheeds. The Chhote Sahibzaade were even tortured before being bricked alive. How can you feel happy during Christmas knowing that? Thori Ji Sharam karo

  28. This article is not written to insult any community in particular, and so I have used the term "communal factions" and not a particular ethnic term. There are good and bad people in every community and all I have done are point out the mischief some "communal factions" engage in. A number of times we've had certain individuals start the age old debate "Sikhs are Hindus". No matter how much you try to convince them even by using quotes from Gurbani, they fail to understand. Now I myself fail to understand why these people have to start such a debate. I shall try to bring out some reasons I feel are the main cause behind this. Anyone is free to point out any mistakes I may make. Firstly, we need to take a look at some recent history. In 1947, Sikhs had the option of either joining India, or Pakistan, or having a country of their own. Since the Sikh leader Master Tara Singh was very naive, and stronger on rhetoric than on being practical, he fell prey to Nehru's words of assurance that Sikhs would fare better if they joined India. And so that's what happened – Sikhs did choose to join India. In the past decade or so, a new zeal has developed among the Sangh parivaar to somehow make India a Hindu rashtra. Since the Muslims were given Pakistan, they probably don't have much choice left. Other communities like Christians are in very small numbers and so pose no threat to the communal factions in India. The ones who can be a headache for them tomorrow are obviously the Sikhs as they were promised a secular country in 1947 and so any idea of a country based on one particular religion will never be accepted by them. The first thing they will demand will be that Punjab be handed over to the Sikhs as a country distinct and different from this supposed Hindu rashtra. That's another scenario the communal factions can never allow to happen. They cannot let go of defense forces like the Sikh regiment, Sikh Light Infantry and Punjab regiment. They cannot part with 40% of India wheat. So at any cost Punjab needs to remain with India. The only way to do this is to pacify the Sikhs so that they don't pose any risk and happily agree to be part of the Hindu rashtra. There are 2 ways to terminate your foe. One is "annihilation" which means finishing him off by force. This is what the Mughals did and killed scores and scores of Sikhs. The other is "assimilation", which is when you make your foe join your ranks, and you use his power and resources for your own benefits. That's what the present day communal factions in India are doing to the Sikhs, and this is where the "Sikhs are Hindus" concept has to be introduced. Recently I heard a discourse according to which there are 12,700 villages in Punjab, and 13,000 Sikh saints dwell in them. The striking point is that all these saints sprang up only after 1984. Thus one starts questioning their existence before 1984 and the sudden resurfacing only after the Sikhs went through a holocaust. The "Sikhs are Hindus" concept is thus a vital tool in convincing the Sikhs that they are a part of the Hindu rashtra. Not that Sikhs have anything against Hindus, but trying to manipulate an entire community's history and scriptures just to tamper with their ideology and personality for selfish personal motives is severely disgusting. A number of attempts have been made to portray the Sikh Gurus as Hindus, to misinterpret Gurbani in a way that it also declares the equivalency of Sikhs and Hindus, and to further belittle the Sikh religion by branding it as an offshoot of Hinduism. Several upon several references and quotes from Gurbani and a number of other textual and historical sources that clearly outline Sikhism's unique, distinct and different identity are not even bothered to be studied by these communal factions. They even reject some valuable historic events such as Guru Tegh Bahadur Jee sacrificing His life for saving Hinduism and label it as incorrect information. These people forget the fact that Sikhism came at a time when historians had already started penning down history, whereas their own faith had its scriptures only after the original orator was not around anymore. The inclusion of verses by Hindu and Muslim saints in SREE GURU GRANTH SAHIB JEE is seen as a compilation of "items" copied from other faiths and incorporated into Sikhism, whereas the truth that SREE GURU GRANTH SAHIB JEE is indeed the only "scripture" that crosses boundaries of religion is sadly overlooked. India was a slave under the British for some 200 years, a slave under Muslims for some 500 years, and slave to others such as Greeks, Persians and Afghans too. It has been a slave under foreign invaders for at least a millennium. The Sikhs who fought the oppressive Mughal and British governments are made to believe that they are supposed to live as subservient to those who were slaves for 1000 years. How hilarious is that! Those who deny the fact that it was Guru Gobind Singh Jee who saved Hindustan from complete cultural and religious annihilation need to familiarize themselves with a couplet by Baba Bulle Shah: "na kahu ab ki, na kahu tab ki, agar na hotay Guru Gobind Singh, to sunnat hoti sab ki", which is translated as "I don't talk about the present or the future, but if it wasn't for Guru Gobind Singh, all would be circumsized" which implies that all of India would have converted to Islam. These were words by a Sufi Muslim saint and yet the communal factions refuse to accept it. Other reasons as to why such campaigns are started to confuse Sikhs about their identity remains partly obvious and partly yet to be investigated. Perhaps those who try to confuse the Sikhs are themselves confused about their own respective religions. Perhaps they find Sikhism, Sikh history and the immense knowledge in Sikhi too intimidating, and so to hide their fragile self-esteem they make fun of Sikhs in order to make a Sikh feel ashamed of his/her identity. After all its human nature to bring down anyone heading higher than you, to pull back anyone getting ahead of you, and so such individuals would do anything to mess up a Sikh's mind and try their best to break off a Sikh with Sikhi, and eventually break him/her off from Gurujee. If you raise a lion's cub with kittens and puppies, initially the cub may consider itself as part of them. But as the cub grows and realizes that it looks different, that its characteristics are different, it will no longer categorize itself as a cat or dog. The same is for the present Sikh generation in India. All you need to give a cub to make it realize its true self is a small sip of blood (the famous Hindi phrase "sher ke mooh khoon lag jana" comes to mind). Similarly, the day those Sikhs realize that they are unique, distinct and different, the day they get a taste of their history written in the blood of countless shaheeds, the day they drink the divine elixir of Gurbani, all attempts by any of such communal factions to further mislead the Sikhs will fail miserably. To conclude, all I want to say is that Sikhs have gone through the worst possible ever in the few centuries of their history. Time and again repeated attempts have been made to finish or subjugate them in one way or another. Those who do so need to remember that this community of lions started by Guru Gobind Singh Jee does not owe any allegiance to anyone but their Guru, and since lions don't fear sheeps, it is pointless to even try. Guru Gobind Singh Jee said "Vaaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa Vaaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh". He didn't announce that His Sikhs were a sub-sect of a pre-existing community, He called them Khalsa! He didn't have them owe allegiance to gods/goddesses/prophets, He made them owe allegiance only and only to Vaaheguroo! Thus the Sikh greeting of "Vaaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa Vaaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh" is in itself a complete declaration of the distinct, unique and different identity of the Sikhs. Any attempt/effort made to modify/dissolve/tarnish it will only meet with stiff resistance and insulting defeat. Thus all fellow Sikh brothers and sisters are requested to beware of such individuals who are out there not to question, discuss or learn, but only to mislead and confuse, and thereby destroy and dissolve the Sikh identity. My sincere apologies if this write up offends any reader. Hurting anyone was not my intention at all, just wanted to share my thoughts and I do stand corrected on anything I may have said wrong. Gurujee bless you Vaaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa Vaaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh Mehtab Singh (an ex-Hindu) May 29, 2006
