  1. All I'm going to say is that we seriously need to act on the SGPC. They have proven to be a bunch of incompetent, useless, administrators of our gurdwaras. Sangat needs to remove these guys and restore the Panj Pyare system.

  3. I remember being on these forums back in days and it was buzzing with lots of members because: 1) Hardly no social media (whatsapp, facebook, twitter, instagram, etc). Nowadays there's so much distractions of different smart phone apps that peoples attention is directed else where back in the days this was one of the few places you could chat with other Sikhs around the globe. 2) Apathy has taken place over last decade or so,....Punjabi people were more interested in connecting and learning about there Sikh faith as there was less distractions 3) The forum had module addons like chat, arcade games, quizzes. Interactive stuff to make the youth keep coming back to the site. 4) Google search algorithms has created a disaster for alot of websites they rank websites by SEO and in particular number of good backlinks and reputation. Whereas back in the days yahoo and google were equally competative so alot of people used yahoo and google to search for things and sikhsangat topics used to come up in their searches so they would be redirected to the forum whereas these days if you were interested in a particular topic you probably wont find sikhsangat topics indexed in relevant searches.

  4. https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/chandigarh/chandigarh-sikh-man-alleges-conversion-bid-by-muslim-wife-7405558/ Chandigarh: Sikh man alleges conversion bid by Muslim wife, moves court The court of Rasveen Kaur, Civil Judge (Junior Division), has issued a notice to the defendants for July 20. Written by Jagpreet Singh Sandhu | Chandigarh | July 15, 2021 10:17:12 am A 36-year-old Sikh man has filed a civil suit in the Chandigarh district courts seeking directions to restrain his Muslim wife and her relatives from forcibly converting him and his minor son to Islam. The court of Rasveen Kaur, Civil Judge (Junior Division), has issued a notice to the defendants for July 20. The plaintiff, who is a resident of Chandigarh, has submitted that he is Sikh by religion and by birth while his wife and in-laws are Muslim by birthhe plaintiff’s counsel, advocate Dikshit Arora, has submitted in the petition that he met his would-be wife in 2008 while working in an office in Chandigarh, where he was a store incharge and she was a salesgirl. The two became friends and she proposed to him. He said no because they came from different religions. However, she persisted and promised him that religion will never become an issue. On this, they got married as per Sikh rituals in a gurdwara at Amritsar in November 2008. However, the plaintiff alleges in the petition, from day one of the marriage, his wife and in- laws started forcing him to profess Muslim religion and to boycott Sikh religion. Due to this, he initially opted to stay away from his in-laws and went to Delhi where he stayed from 2008-2011. Later, he took up a job at Amritsar where he lived from 2011 to 2015. In August 2012, his wife gave birth to a baby boy. He alleged from day one of the birth of his son, his wife and in-laws tried their best to convert the minor child to Islam but the plaintiff safeguarded him. The plaintiff alleged the other relatives of his wife, including his brother-in-laws, also had been interfering in his married life. In the suit filed, the plaintiff also alleged that the defendants, including his in-laws and other family members of his wife, asked him to get rid of his hair (Kesh). They tried to remove the “KARA” from the hand of the plaintiff, and insulted the plaintiff and his religion by throwing the turban from his head. The plaintiff also alleged that he was forced to eat Halal Meat instead of Jhatka Meat. The plaintiff submitted that he previously made a complaint to the SSP concerned but it was of no use. The police party had failed to provide justice to him.

  8. Very few Sikhs have probably heard of this man, yet there isn't a Gurdwara around the world which hasn't got his paintings hanging on the walls. He painted our ithiaas and his work has inspired countless Sikhs to get into Sikhi. Kirpal Singh was born on 10 December 1923 in village Zira Chain Singh Wala, Ferozpur District. Kirpal Singh was born into a Ramgharia family, and from a young age was inspired by his fathers work who was a talented craftsmen. Kirpal Singh was a self taught artist and never went to art school. In 1940 Kirpal Singh visited historical Gurdware like Bhai Taru Singh, Bhai Mani Singh, Dehra Sahib and Shaheedganj in Lahore and learnt about the sacrifices made by Sikhs. Soon after Kirpal Singh started painting Sikh ithiaas. Kirpal Singh was inspired by the paintings of the great European masters like Michalengelo and Leonardo da vinvi. In 1956 he was employed by Darbar Sahib, Amritsar to create paintings for the central Sikh museum. Kirpal Singh was paid a salary of Rs.250 per month, and worked at Darbar Sahib from 1956 to 1962. In 1990 Kirpal Sindh died in a car accident. He painted some of the most famous and recognizable paintings of Sikh ithiaas. He dedicated his life to painting the history of the Sikhs. He was the artist, who wrote the history of Sikh people with a brush in vibrant colors. No other artist has painted the struggles and sacrifices of Sikhs with such passion and commitment. 10. Wanted to take it to next level. Funds are here but don't have creative idea or plan to get something done more further to help those who lives in remote areas with less sangat or bring more resources to global sangat without any cost. The reason why me and my friends started this site in 2001 was to find sangat. I used to live in a remote area with no Sikh sangat. Thus created sikhsangat and it helped me a lot and i know hundreds who got benefited from such sites. I am thinking of opening a online course/school system for gurmat.

  11. There's a line. A wise, respectful individual can make their point and express themselves creatively without crossing that line. Not so wise individuals regularly find themselves crossing the line and falling flat on their chittar. We are a community of clowns and sellouts.
