  1. i wouldn't say it's based on war. Id say its based on how one should live their life according through those lenses. Is war apart of life? unfortunately yes it is. We have our way and they have their own, the only problem is that they have a supremacist attitude and treat minorities like <banned word filter activated>. Now they aren't the only ones that do this however in our history we have mostly been through this kind of thing by them then later on Christians. Today they are still a huge problem but an equally bigger if not worse problem is the liberalism bull being shoved our

What i meant is that through the lens of spirituality what they do is completely wrong and evil but it helps their followers through tough times and in the end they win because people who base their entire action through the lens of morality dont realize that to fight off evil you have to play along with their games. For example sikhs are too kind to everyone because some dil saaf sikh spread that we have to be kind to our enemies too which is exactly why we are in this state. We are literally too kind to our enemies because we think through the lens of our morality instead of playing along th

  3. it is based on the level of paranoia exhibited by a minority group that had been rejected by their own tribes until they took up the sword and started murdering their bretheren , a trend they has never stopped until the present day . It is ridiculous to justify that outlook now, as they are not hounded down except in one country in the world at the mo China and that is more to do with the CCP flexing .

  6. not in the amounts they want to claim , the bulk comes via sea direct from afghan via Iranian waters to Gujarat. Think about it the border has areas loaded with landmines in between fields and the actual border points are doubly manned in Punjab its a lot harder to sneak large shipments like three metric tonnes at a time

  7. Might be a few reasons: - Rise in urban dwelling - Fewer neonatal deaths so less need for more births (a minor reason probably as child deaths probably have stayed low for around 100 years and I am not aware of any in my extended famoly) - 'Modernisation' - women/families are aware that it's not the 'done thing' - Effect of Western relatives /what they see in their Western relatives (although I think even in the West up to 2-3 generations ago, it was typical for Punjabi families to have 3-5 children born )

  8. Maybe this is anecdotal but I get the impression that low birth rates in Sikh families back in Punjab might have something to do with the entanglements that arise between brothers who have to vie for a limited acreage of inheritable farmland. We all know that for those people, accepting one's rightful share is sometimes never enough. It's not the complete picture but I think it's a contributor. EDIT: I forgot to write my main point: The more siblings there are born to one set of parents, the less each sibling receives of the land from the father's estate. In the higgledy-piggledy thinking

  9. Having 3 children families is very attainable for our community and would reverse our downward slide. We have to create a social acceptance and hold it as the ideal instead of the current 2 child norm most follow. Having more kids would also increase the social networks that will otherwise shrink quite dramatically after the boomers go boom. More populated families bring a certain rejuvenation and ripple affect that sort of alleviates certain pessimisms that are plaguing our more isolated and diminishing households. I’ve seen this both here in the west and back in Punjab. Bigger the families,

Many here may / may not agree with me, but make it according to Taksaal Maryaad is the best way as it's the traditional way of preparing it, going back to Guru Ji's time. Nothing too difficult. Get Iron Kadahi (fryer) and iron saucepan (make sure it's NOT Non stick but classic or normal iron) 3 steel bowls (caulia). Butter, flour, sugar in equal measures. Pop equal measure of water per serving (so let's say five ingredients are 1kg that'll be 5kg water)

Looking to contact British Born and Raised Punjabis who: 1) Are reasonably fluent in Punjabi 2) Can read and write Punjabi 3) Potentially have an interest in reading punjabi and possibly writing in it This year is the year that on a language census you could do your bit to help the status of Punjabi language. What my colleagues and I are interested in is looking for like minded British Punjabis who could help rekindle the use of Punjabi as a written and read language for the benefit and use of British Born Punjabis to help make th

  14. That is THE most contributing factor for reduction in children, in combination with the lower stigma with using birth control in our community (relative to other Indians). Also, partition terminated the Jatt expansion in the canal colonies and left us with smaller land holdings and less fertile options (like Rajasthan). This meant we could only squeeze out 1-2 generations post-partition of large families with secure land holding transfers with expansion potential. The situation now is that most land holdings are already quite small and farming families know there is no chance of maintaini

I mean if there are good classes teaching punjabi i dont see how it is difficult for people born in West to learn 2 langauges. I mean the jews preserved hebrew since so long and our people cant preserve punjabi even after one generation? How strange? Or maybe some groups are more intellectual and creative than others . Ours are just weak willed people who constantly make excuses except a few. I was interested in rumi's poetry and started learning persian and these people cant even read the language of their religi

I think a lot of people feel their only chance to have proper resources, to fund a childs caste, I mean miseducation, I mean education, is to only have one or few children. Only people with... A)enough money to put many kids through the extracuricular activities, private schools, tutors and university. This continues a series of posts that talk about books you can read and discuss with others who are interested in our literary Heritage and the direction it is going. All selected books are reviewed on basis on those that best fit the preferences of a western ( world) raised Punjabi reader. We need to start reading more, unless we use the language and read the language our heritage language will weaken in this country

  32. Yes, that's right, they were traitors to the Sikh empire and the General dyer meeting is true as well. Harsimran Badal is a descendant of that family, now she is married into the Badal clan, you see how they are all linked. Ala Singh of Patiala, Capt Amrinders ancestor, helped Abdali invade Punjab, it was Abdali that made him a Maharaja. The same family then helped the British in the Anglo Sikh wars, same family also massacred 100s of Nihang Singhs at Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib Patiala during the 2nd Anglo Sikh war, after the British instructed them to.

  33. From what I remember, right after that General Dyer bloke did the massacre at Jallianwala Bagh, he went to majithias place to stay and have dinner. During British rule, it was these people in charge of Punjab, and now, even after the so called independence, we still have the descendant of these idiots. Was it even worth it for Sikhs to fight for independence, when we still have the exact same rulling families? Was Majithias family one of those traitors during the Sikh empire?

They are too powerful to remove. One can only wonder how much land and wealth these devilish families own. Capt Amrinder's family have been ruling Punjab since the mid 18th century, Majithias sardars used to have important roles in the Sikh empire. They are like aristocrat families. They been ruling Punjab for centuries. Capt Amrinder got his grandson married to a girl from a Royal family of Himachal Pradesh. They

  38. I can only go by my experiences as a child learning in a Gurdwara (even if this was a while ago). The provisions back then were 'woefully inadequate'. The cultural divide between teachers and children - enormous! But given the changes that have taken place since then with both understanding and technology, this shouldn't be an issue like it was before. There was no financial incentive for them to preserve it (which dictates what most apnay parents push their kids into), and all quarters tell us that it is an underdeveloped language, which is partially true because people haven't adap

  39. This is what I have been saying. We need to get more people in areas around and in punjab into sikhi instead of constantly badmouthing india and indians and getting our people killed in unplanned physical fight against the state. If you dont have the numbers yet then we have to be chalaak like christians and muslims and try to gain numbers first through conversion and births. I mean the catholic church is corrupt as hell but they are still hellbound on getting people into their religion because they know high numbers = more support. Our people need to learn from these people. We dont need high
