  2. our lot dont have a strong identity and latch onto whatever is popular instead of being solid in their understanding of gurbani because they want clicks and likes. Gurbani literally teaches all the truth about life. It made me based lol. One example is that khalsa aid guy who spreads liberal nonsense by misusing gurbani. He literally doesn't understand gurbani but twists it to suit his woke ideology that is what is popular today because being a based sikh won't get him $$$ and popularity.

  8. I think apnay and apneean conforming to, and mentally imbibing existing external narratives doesn't help either. Being fear driven isn't any solution, as well as contrary to Sikh culture. I'm increasingly getting that the younger generation (most people born mid 90s onwards) are more mentally soft than I thought. I guess it's not a surprise when you consider that they've come up in relatively closeted circumstances in terms of diasporic socio-political environments. They've never first hand witnessed people resisting and defending themselves in various ways. It may well be that for them, this is only something they've read about or think is something that only happens in movies and not real life? If things change, they'll have to learn. And freeing yourselves from constraining outsider narratives is a simple truth and reality all aspirational and independent minded people have to do.

  13. https://www.thenational.scot/news/19778641.brother-jagtar-singh-johal-makes-plea-amid-jaggis-detention-india/ 12th December Brother of Jagtar Singh Johal makes plea amid 'Jaggi's' detention in India By Kirsteen Paterson @kapatersonJournalist Gurpreet Singh Johal with a picture of Jaggi SCOTTISH solicitor Gurpreet Singh Johal has been campaigning for his brother’s release from detention in India for 1500 days. Jagtar, who was arrested shortly after his wedding in the Punjab region, has been accused of paying £4000 into a murder plot motivated by religion and politics. His family believe that allegation is related to his online Sikh activism through a website documenting historical violence against Sikhs in India. After four years, a trial has yet to be held and MPs from across the party spectrum have raised grave concerns, describing his treatment as arbitrary detention. Indian authorities have dismissed criticism and said they have the evidence they need. The UK Government says it is supporting Jagtar and his family. Today, in a plea to the public, Gurpreet says only public pressure will lead to change. MY brother woke up in an Indian jail cell today. He hasn’t slept in his own bed for 1500 days. My brother is so many things – a husband, an uncle, a grandson, a friend, a blogger, a researcher, an Arsenal supporter. But he’s not a criminal and he’s not been convicted of anything. Never mind being convicted, no formal charges have been framed against him on the serious allegations alleged him by the Indian state. Jagtar has been subjected to over 235 hearings and to date no evidence has been produced against him nor have any charges been framed on the serious allegations against him. Jagtar has been subjected to continuous adjournments by the Indian authorities. Our whole family is being punished for something he has not been tried or convicted of and after 1500 days we are still trying to get the UK Government to use the full weight of its diplomatic power to help us bring Jagtar home. A raft of parliamentarians and expert charities agree his treatment is arbitrary detention. Why doesn’t the UK Government agree? Those 1500 days have gone so slowly, but the world has shifted since Jagtar was abducted off the street just a fortnight after his wedding. We have since been through two prime ministers and four foreign secretaries. We have entered a global pandemic. We have hosted COP26 in Glasgow, the city where my brother was born. How much more will Jagtar miss? How much more of his life will be wasted in a cell in Delhi while ministers sit on their hands? more at : https://www.thenational.scot/news/19778641.brother-jagtar-singh-johal-makes-plea-amid-jaggis-detention-india/

  14. 100% . my parents were the typical indian urban sikh family who taught me nothing about sikhi. I didnt even know about 1984 until i was 14 years old. But when i came to canada, joined twitter and started researching about what happened to our people and how we have been robbed of our beautiful heritage land and culture and seeing how sikhs are being constantly attacked in india i became so much stronger in my sikhi. Like when you know that you are attacked for a particular thing that you possess you become more attached to it. You wont believe i used to be the same dil saaf type of person that i vehemently resent now. These dil saaf peoples eyes havent been opened yet to what they are being robbed off which is why they bark all this nonsense 24/7. Unfortunately the sikhs in india dont know yet what they are being robbed off which is why they behave this way.

  19. I agree we should frame these topics in a more respectful manner. We're still left with certain problems of casteism, jattism, punjabijiyat, racism, something resembling samboism, assimilation, democracy, committees, political parties interfering, corruption of money going in and out etc. Land, water rights diminishing. Environmental changes. Covid? Human rights violations. Imminent economic impacts and a world wide assault on Sikhs, and the indigenous. And before this goes down. We have to secure first and foremost Sikhi, the Saroops etc and prepare to navigate new types of war and resource dynamics previously unfaced in history. With a planet at its' least capable of doing so. I think removing voting, and comittes, and replacing them with representatives and Panj Pyare systems and re evaluating the flow of Daswand would be a big step. So would reinforcing our Bibek and Rehit in the direction of abolishing family and caste thinking and think only of Khalsa Paanth would be another. Is @dallysingh101 polite about it? No. Does he continue to bring it up? Always. Is it a real issue we need to face. Absolutely.

  21. That's exaggerating. Maybe a large minority, I doubt a majority. Although I have not been much to Punjab in the past 10 years so the current youngsters might be different to the ones I knew CP could be used to educate youngsters on important life lessons that they would otherwise be more likely to learn the hard way though

  23. The reality is that it is the daughter in law that does the looking after and the son is often left to negotiate the power play going on between his mother and wife. And it is often daughters that care more for their parents than daughter in laws as is being proven in modern times in the West where travel is easier. So there are no guarantees that the son will be able to fulfil his duties if his wife doesn't get on with his mother.

  24. Some thoughts: It's their word against his [Herman Singh]. They are showing disrespect to Herman Singh by deliberately calling him by his first name - this speaks to sincerity. SYUK themselves have done plenty to create divisions in the 'Panthic Sikh Community'. They don't always act in accordance to Sikh princples - something which has been highlighted in incidents prior to this. They haven't explicitly denied calling the police on Herman Singh. Who are these Panj Singh - not doubting the concept of Panj Singh itself, rather how legitimate this claim is and by what procedure it took place if true. Does Deepa Singh need to be told not to get into conflict with his brothers? SYUK have violated this tenet several times already. God forbid they knew this before supposedly being told. There is no such thing as 'Sri Akal Takht Sahib Maryada' - it's SGPC Maryada which is something they (and a lot of people) speak against but then apply when it suits them. They're pointing out the fact they've done Seva - no one has denied this but as previously mentioned, it doesn't give them carte blanche in regard to behaviour. They have made many mistakes according to Gurmat and are trying to wiggle out it - they're not only answerable to SGGSJ, the Panth also has a say. They themselves just claimed Panj Singh gave Hukam but according to their line of thinking, an apology alone will suffice for their misdeeds - double standards. They're saying he nor SYUK can be held responsible for their own members. This is unaccpetable. They should have responded to this whole situation ASAP, not a couple of hours before. This doesn't matter though because of their lack of sincerity and respect. It's clear they don't take the concerns of the Sikh community seriously. Personally I think they're just trying to play the humble victim but their false piety, arrogance, and dishonest nature is obvious. It didn't take long to pick apart their nonsense 'official statement'. I urge everyone to analyse anything and everything that they churn out or support. They spread a lot of misinformation, ignorance, and promote the same under the guise of Gurmat. Soon enough, people who have been affected by their toxic, cultish ideology will start appearing, it's already happening. Gurbar Akaal!

  25. Two wrongs dont make a right. With that reasoning men who drink to much and behave badly should also be copied by women? If men can do it why cant women? Its so unfair for women. Why cant they do what men do. Why cant women get p1ssed on the weekend just like men. If men take drugs . Why cant women take drugs? Why do women have to be all innocent while men can do all the good things??

  29. Dear oh dear Ajeet. That was sarcasm you plonker! Sorry you missed it. Odd you say I was "crying" though, that's what you do with your RSS/Brahmin conspiracy topics. Seems like you're the confused one...shall I write "LOL" also? Anyway, you're 100% right, Dakhni Oankaar does explain what Oankaar is. I also completely agree with your statement that like Hindus we believe this sound created the universe. But technically you're wrong when you say we don't call it Om, because neither do they. ਓਨਮ ਅਖਰੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ Onam akẖar ṯaribẖavaṇ sār. ||1|| The Universal, Imperishable Creator Lord is the essence of the three worlds. ||1|| Onam stands "On(g) Namah", which is a Mantra used by Hindus. - ਓਅੰ ਨਮਹ The historical context of this Bani is important. Guru Sahib is explaining the Arth of Oankaar and giving Updesh. Guru Shaib is not saying "oh Pandit, you almost got it right, it's not Om, it's On(g)...you Hindus are wrong". You see, the "Hindus" did have that part (the sound) right, they always have, that isn't the issue, because surprise...Om and On(g) is the same thing. Guru Sahib is instead explaining, as you quite correctly said, what Oankaar is. More on this later. Now then, you, and others may be thinking "that doesn't make sense because Hindus say Om not On(g)/Oan....of course they're wrong!". But unfortunately (for some lol), they're not..."why not?" you may ask. It's because there is no such thing as "Om". First of all, there is no "M" sound in the character ॐ...it is not represented in the Om symbol anywhere. Secondly, if you read about the way Sanskrit and other Indian languages were and are transliterated, you would find that in many cases the nasal sound produced by Bindis and Tippis, and in this case the Chandrabindu (a type of Bindi used in the Devanagari script which indicates a strong nasal sound), have been incorrectly transliterated in the Roman script with the letter M. Even now, when you read transliterations of Sanskrit or Hindi, many times where there is a Bindu or Chandrabindu, it is transliterated as M. Over time this corrupt form has become the popular way of saying it. Obviously you're not supposed to pronounce the M as an English one though. However, having said all this one could still argue that many people, Hindus included, still pronounce Om with the English M sound...and yes many do. But many people also pronounce Oankaar differently (or wrong depending on your perspective). Those who have had Santhiya will pronounce it correctly, just as those Hindus who have studied Sanskrit and learnt to read their scriptures properly will (if you listen carefully enough to recitations you will notice this). So, the fact remains ॐ and ਓਅੰ are indeed pronounced in the same way and have the same sound! Lastly, and going back to the historical context or Uthanka of this Bani...people had started to equate ॐ/ਓਅੰ to Shiv Ji...it had become synonymous with him, hence the name "Omkareshwar" or "Lord of Om". Guru Sahib was correcting the Pandit there and giving Updesh on the true nature of Oankaar; that the true Omkareshwar is Akaal Purkh. In Madhya Pradesh stands a Gurdwara that marks Guru Nanak Dev Ji's visit called Gurdwara Sri Omkareshwar Sahib located near the main shrine dedicated to Shiv Ji. Again as we can see, the transliteration is "Omkareshwar" but in Devanagari it is spelt ओंकारेश्वर...with a bindu, of which the actual transliteration would be Onkaareshwar. Amazing what you can learn when you don't be so Hinduphobic, isn't it? Gurbar Akaal!

  32. I always find it interesting from a psychological viewpoint when one is so far up another’s, or, in this case, a collectives arse to the point where they can most probably taste the Dabur hair oil...the collective being the Dal Panth here, until alas...the tables have turned, kachera drops, and cheeks are spread for further ramming; the accuser who shouts “Nang” quite evidently becomes the “Nang” themselves. This, beyond a shadow of a doubt, leads to repressed anger as can be seen in this thread as well as sounding like a stroke victim speaking gibberish elsewhere on the interwebs. And then they say so many Nihangs are mentally unstable...OHH EM GEE...I rather disrespectfully disagree. Akaaaaaaaaaaluuhh!
