  1. Try harder. It's a waste of time and emotional effort. Learn a practical skill that you normally pay another person to do (home repair / maintenance, etc) or a martial art to aid fitness. Or just read something. I was a little more than an average gamer but not quite hardcore. I was in my late 20s, mindlessly bashing buttons one day. Opposite from where I was sitting was a mirror. I saw myself, a grown man, playing a video game, and it hit me like a ton of bricks; a tide of overwhelming shame washed over me. "You soft b*****d" I said to myself. Next day I sold my consoles and all my games. One of the best things I ever did. I feel the same about spectator sports such as football. I was heavily into football. I was a proper statistician. I could've told you the teams and squads up to the reserve team of every club in the domestic European leagues. That's hundreds of players! Knocked that 5hit on the head in my early 20s, too. Bread and circuses bukwaas. They get you to invest your heart and soul into this 5hit so that you ignore or neglect the actual important stuff you need to be aware of. Moderation isn't the issue at all. It's all corporate cr4p that chips away at your aatma.

  2. Come on man, these are 13 year old girls. You have no clue at all at that age about the world and its dangers. You are a child at this age. This is paedophilia plain and simple. You can't blame the victims in cases like this. And the 50 year old perverts knew what they were doing was wrong.

  3. Apne will still serve Langar to suls in Kashmir, Dubai and Delhi like a bunch of simpletons. It's like the kid in school who gives away free sweets so that all the other kids like him and more importantly don't beat him up. Pathetic really.

  4. As requested, my story in detail: So as I mentioned, during my younger years my mum had me involved in the gurdwara and I would probably go atleast once a week if not more. All the usual gurdwara trips and gurmukh camps used to be part of my normal life. I would play football with the lads from the gurdwara and would be active in social events. I am mona and whilst I reflect back and wish I had stuck with that crowd, I realise there was a part of me that felt like I didnt fit in (because I was mona). I naturally started hanging around with a different crowd which was all good at the time but I now realise that being around these people instilled some horrible traits within myself. We were very judgemental and got kicks from making fun out of others. I should probably also mention that my knowledge on sikhi was limited. I spent alot of time at the gurdwara but with no real understanding or connection to waheguru. We all came from similar households i.e. religious mothers / grandmothers but dads who drank heavily and as we grew in to our teens, drinking became natural. My first drink was with my dad. I then hit the age of 18 where I was at college. I was able to drink legally but I also started smoking weed. At the time, it was all about image. It was all about fitting in and what people perceived of me. I wanted to be seen as somebody tough to avoid being bullied (was bullied at a younger age). I managed to get through college and enrolled on to university where the weed addiction escalated. I had drifted away from the gurdwara and sikhi. A normal day for me was waking up at 11am, eat, work at my part time job and then evenings i would spend the money I had earned to smoke 3-4 spliffs and repeat again the next day. At this point in my life, something happened within our household which just made me spiritually sick for many years. A member of my family was groomed by muslims and everything around me fell apart. The dynamics in my family changed, relationships changed, we were receiving threats from muslims - I lost complete faith in everything and I lost all trust in everyone. This experience amplified my use of drinks and drugs. When I reached my last exam at uni, things had got so bad at home that I didnt want to go to my graduation and I had to get away from the city I live in. As an escape, I went to stay with my mama for 6 weeks in the US. The first day I got there I just cried. Running away from my problems had not worked. However, I believe that trip was meant to happen as it brought me back to Sikhi. My mama is a gursikh and wears a dastaar and he showed me how powerful waheguru could be. He taught me values that I still live on with today and it was from there that I started to read in to sikhi again. I came back from the US and surprise surprise nothing had changed by me running away. My mama sent me home with a gutka sahib with english translation and one day I was so broken inside that I sat down and did paath looking for answers. It was an amazing experience. Everything that I had carried around for years felt like it had been lifted. I remember feeling a sensation inside of me which the only way I can describe it as is a light. I was beaming and felt like I had been lifted somewhere. I started working to get by, but there was a complete lack of motivation as I still felt resentful about the hand I had been dealt. The money that I earned was spent on going out, buying bottles in clubs, drugs, women, stag dos and so on. I was still very conscious about my image as by now many people were aware of the problems at home so I felt I still had to show face and show that I was ready to battle with anyone who wanted it. I would fight alot and in a weird way get a kick out of it. As this lifestyle continued, I was introduced to cocaine. My reputation had grown with fighting and we were known as the go to people when you had trouble. Cocaine was something that only the 'top' lads used back then as its expensive and was not used like it is today. By this time, the people I had surrounded myself with were all dealers / club owners / 'rough' lads. Cocaine was so easily available to me and it quickly became a habit that grew on all of us. At first, it was just for fun, every now and again. It soon got to a point where it became a necessity after a drink. A typical night in the pub would be a few pints and countless bags of cocaine. We were doing this almost on a daily basis - thinking we were the top lads - LOL! makes me laugh now because its so far from what I believe a toplad is now. I can honestly say after a few years of living my life like this, this addiction brought me down on my knees. I had lost complete power and control over my drinking and using. I knew it, but I didnt know how to stop it. I would complete sober periods for maybe 1 or 2 months at maximum but it would never last. It was during this phase of my life that I started searching for help. I joined sikhsangat to see if there was people out there who were going through similar situations in our community. Through sikhsangat, my attention refocused on sikhi. I started watching a lot of basics of sikhi videos which really helped but they alone could not keep me sober. i was able to stay sober for longer but would always end up back on here feeling suicidal and looking for someone else to fix me. I eventually lost myself again and stopped using this site. I spent many years searching for answers and stuck in this cycle. I was up to my eyes in debt, and I was dead inside. I wanted the cycle to end and thought the only way would be to end my own life. I couldnt live with this powerlessness. I couldnt live with being such a disappointment and hurting everyone around me. Then one morning after a heavy night on drink and drugs, I had rang in sick to work (this was normal for me). I had enough. I searched for help online and found myself on the alcoholics anonymous page. I was so ashamed of reaching out to them that when they rang me back I ignored their calls and luckily they persisted and rang back the next day. This is where my journey to recovery started. Im not on here to preach about Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) but my story is that this programme worked for me. There is one thing that I think has been my saviour in all of this. In AA, they say that you need to have a higher power of your own understanding - for me, this was waheguru. Everyday I would do mool mantar in the morning, meditate , do a gratitude and inventory list (as the programme advises). I truly believe that without me bowing down to waheguru in the morning and handing myself over to waheguru, I would not be here today. Today, my life is completely different. I am married and have a loving and caring wife, I have relationships with people around me that addiction had taken away from me, I am spiritually connected to waheguru, I have cleared all my financial debts and I have a successful job and career which I excel in. These are all things that in addiction, I never believed I could have. With wahegurus kirpa, everything I wished for came true. I hope this helps someone out there. I am here to help others suffering now with wahegurus backing. Message me anytime

  5. So I've been lurking on the forum as a guest for a few weeks and I am absolutely appalled by the response of the far left to this issue. I was actually meaning on starting a similar thread on this topic and still probably will as I have so much to show and say. It's mindsets like SinghPunjabSingh that are actually a part of the problem. The racism from said community is much much more widespread than he thinks as this is happening in the UK too and is not at all limited to a handful of crackheads as suggested. No, this does not mean we should start 'hating' the community (I have to say this because brainwashed people will see this and think it means I am saying it is an excuse to hate them), but it 110 per cent needs to be called out!!! We should be able to call it out without being shamed. You have black drill artists in the UK using 'Paki' in their songs now too which is basically the N word for Asians. You have many racial attacks on Asians from Blacks in the UK let alone the USA (on East Asians and South Asians alike). But as I said, I am working on presenting how bad the issue is and why it is how it is so I am going to be starting a new thread in the coming week or so.

  6. It is not non-Muslim countries that actively invite Muslims in, it is the liberals in these countries that emotionally backmail the rest of the population into allowing Muslim migration in and shout 'racist!' if there is any voice which wants to restrict their migration into non-Muslims countries. In Punjab it is the same, it is liberal organisations that started the trend to build Mosques for them and started the propaganda that they are 'beecharay' Countries that have voted in right wing governments understand the danger of Muslim migrations, countries such as Hungary, Poland and Serbia. Countries with Muslim populations already have tried various methods such as expulsion like Myanmar and De-Islamification like China has. It would be interesting to see how the first group of countries fare in the next few decades compared to the second group.

  10. Don't think it's related to badals veerji. In my previous posts and in posts by other Sangat members a few years ago, they mentioned about how Khalsa Raj is in our lifetime. Many people like to dismiss this unfortunately and have no faith in Bachans of Mahapurakhs. What They tell us is just the end result. Khalsa Raj is going to happen in our lifetime, but when many people hear this they think we are referring to it happening magically without any work. All the events that are happening now are towards preparation of Khalsa Raj and all of these are in Vaheguru ji's khel. Bad times will be for those who do tyranny Bhul Chuk Maf ji Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh ji

  11. I think you need to step back and put your ego in check @shastarSingh. Referring to Baba Nand Singh Ji with such little respect isn't in your interest. These Mahapursh have contributed to Sikhi in ways we can't put a number to. Inspiring people to follow Sikhi in a genuine way and igniting the joy of bhagati is not an easy task. You can lump all intellectuals gyanis and parcharks on one side and they can never inspire the way a mahapursh Sant mahatma can. Don't take this the wrong way, we need all the intellectuals we can get, but their domain is never going to extend into the realms of these rarest of the rare type mahapurshs. You need approach these panthic matters with more grace. There is a way of offering constructive criticism without insulting. You need to refine these skills before speaking beyond your scope. Also, current Nanaksar as an institution is a complex matter, and also separate from Baba Nand Singh Ji.

  12. Indian origin faiths don't have the cunningness, hatred and aggression to deal with Abrahamic faith's especially Islam. Malaysia and Indonesia were once Hindu/Buddhists and now they are overwhelmingly Muslim. Islam wants to conquer, they see secularism as a weakness to expose and when Muslims become a majority they impose sharia which forbids the populace from leaving Islam. So it's a one way win win situation for them. You can never have a Liberal attitude towards them or it will come back to bite you.

  13. It was the lived experience of millions of Sikhs. I would venture that Arjan Singh was a more articulate, sophisticated and adventurous person than someone like you who gets triggered at any mention of Sikhs in the army in WW1 or WW2. Whatever your views about him, he deserves to be honoured as do all those Sikhs who left Punjab to fight in both world wars. Another 'illiterate pendu' I found apparently this 'pendu' went on earn a PhD and fought the racist citizenship policies of the USA.

  16. We keep falling for the same trap each and every time. A Sikh who tries to lift the Panth and Punjab out of his deep and endless abyss we entered into many decades ago will always face more opposition from apnay than even our enemies. All those who are questioning how Amritpal Singh has achieved so much support and a base is Punjab do not understand the power of social media. Social media has caused revolutions in many countries such as the Arab Spring, do these people not know how much social media influences our community in Punjab. The youth these are very engaged with social media and social media has been used to create branches of supporters in many villages and this they are able to mobilise the youth to attend rallies with Amritpal Singh. Simranjit Singh Mann's victory was very much due to the use of social media by our youth. Another reason why Amritpal Singh has captured centre stage is that the Panth and especially the youth have in the last few years become much more grounded in reality and started to cleanse itself of the liberal BS that the likes of Ravi Singh and United Sikhs have bought into Sikhi. He talks unapologetically about how he wants Khalsa Raj just as Hindus openly talk of Hindu Rashtra, the youth wanted a leader who talks in such a manner and not some pyjamay talking constantly about helping others and Sarbat Da Bhalla. The opposition to Amritpal Singh is because he has done more for the Panth in the last few months than all our paper tigers combined in the last three decades. Look at Kuki Gill, he has been badmouthing Amritpal Singh for the last few weeks because since his release in 2009 his achievements for the Panth have been a big fat zero. He keeps harping on about how he sacrificed his career and how he is so highly educated as if no other Kharkoo sacrificed their entire families for the Panth and all he has sacrificed is his career.

  17. He's not. Don't make assumptions without knowing anything about him. Read about him and watch his videos. Look at his socials from years before, he's always been like this and had those opinions. Don't give him the treatment that a lot of Punjabis and Sikhs gave Deep Sidhu calling him a government agent.

  21. I am absolutely disgusted by this, sick to my stomach. First of all they only spent 4 years in jail for paedophilia and rape. WHAT THE F@CK is up with that! They should be spending the rest of their lives behind bars. Ideally they should've got the death sentence if they still had it here. The lives of those girls is ruined forever. There is something really depraved about the suls. I remember when these grooming stories broke out, they interviewed some suls on the street asking them what they thought about the problem, many of them said it takes two to tango, partly blaming these young girls, total sickos. As for being a role model to his son, he'll tell him that it's fine to rape kuffar women because their prophet did the same.

  22. I'm not going to argue on if Sidhu moose Wala was a good person or not, but all I will say ,which I think is something all of us can agree on, is that the Indian government can and will use this excuse to increase forces in Punjab. Remember the sequence of events. 3 days ago Sidhu moose Wala expressed support for Simranjit Singh Maan and for Khalistan. 2 days ago,his security was removed. Yesterday he was assassinated. Does it not seem planned and another poor coverup? Keep in mind that the anniversary of Operation Bluestar is in a few days time. I don't feel it's a coincidence. It doesn't matter if Sidhu was a good person or not, but based on all other events happening, it seems very likely that he was used as a scapegoat to let the Indian government go on with another plan that will help them gain control of Punjab. (E.g extra military presence and police presence) There will normally be extra military presence in Punjab for operation Bluestar anniversary. I wouldn't be surprised if after these forces enter Punjab , they don't leave. Bhul Chuk Maf ji Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh

  23. It's about time they pivot back to the Panth, even if out of compulsion. Sadly though, many of our brethren back home will side with AAP and Kejriwals puppet, Bhagwant Mann, and actually oppose this message by pinning it as a survival attempt by Badal through proxy. Sitting from afar, it just goes to show what a convoluted mess we have back home.

  24. Muslims are projected to grow in numbers. Not due to conversions but due to their high birth rates. Many people don't realise is that Muslim population would actually only be half today. If it were not to their high fertility rate. Many are simply outbreeding everyone else. It's not to do with people converting as many people assume. Other religions are not having as many kids and are decreasing. Europe is facing big issues. People are just not having enough children if any at all. Let's face reality guys. We are going to be living in a Muslim world. From Africa, to Asia to the middle east. The only people I know are trying to do something. Are 'stop Islam in Europe movement'. Other then that no one can do anything as they will be deemed islamaphobic.

  27. No one here or anywhere I know is stating that 50 million African Americans are racist to Indians/Asians lol. What we are highlighting is that there is a minority (I hope!) of black people WHO ARE very racist to Indians/Asians and this is not limited to a 'a couple of crackheads with mental issues that were caused by the White man' lol. There have been too many documented cases of this occurring over the decades and I and many others have personally experienced what I am talking about. It seems you have skimmed over everything in this thread since you last posted and only just repeated yourself. To bury your head in the sand about this issue and to not hold those account responsible is a very very dangerous stance to take and you are putting further Asian lives at risk. Sikh Coalition did not do it because of that, they did it because they are scared little Indians with no backbone and/or deluded. Blacks remain the 2nd largest perpetrators of hate crime in both the US and UK after whites. Significant sections of their communities have a very serious racism problem. These are official government facts.

  28. I'm seeing this happen more and more with Indians sadly. I've lost count of the amount of Indian women in London who have said they will exclusively only date white guys. The main reason for this is propaganda by western media and entertainment etc. Our story bares some similarities to East Asians in the USA. We are being emasculated and being systematically segregated and erased from Media mainly sport and entertainment. An article came out not long ago showing the racism faced by Asians in the UK TV and Film industry (I work in Film and TV btw, not as an actor of course lol). An Asian actor described how he met an agent who said we will only ever cast Indians for geek roles. He then had an interview for a role with another agent who told him he is far too good looking for the role! They basically want to show us as shy, awkward, geeky ugly guys. Don't even get me started on football which I will probably start a whole new thread on one day. A black manager in football without hesitation said Asians have it far worse than blacks in football. Also, notice how the main High Street fashion brands never use Indian models. It's always black, white, mixed and now even East Asian but not Indians. Absolute joke. Look at JD sports for example. This was going on for decades. Now you may have a breakaway model because of BLM and diversity etc, but I'm yet to see one for JD for example. It's segregation, no other way to put it.

  29. Because that's what other US Sikhs have reported. It's not hard to look through first-hand accounts. One of the Sikh elderly who got attacked described his attacker as 'kaala' and OFC some retarded liberal Sikh got upset LMAO. He said we shouldn't call them kaala. Like LMAO our elderly man just got brutally attacked and that's what you're concerned about. BLM is cancer. This whole 'minority unison' is CANCER. If black people ever got in charge, as we see in South Africa, they will attack and isolate minorities. Whites and Indians are heavily scared of black people in South Africa.

  30. The facts are the following pertaining to these particular incidents: 1. Sikh elders have been attacked by black criminals. 2. We, as a community, have a right to describe the racial and ethnic background of the attackers. We'd do it if was Muslims, Mexicans, Whites, whatever. Everything else is f****g fantasy, American-Marxist bull5hit. For "Sikh" organisations to GASLIGHT Sikhs in an insidious attempt at extreme political correctness that places us under threat of further harm is f****g EVIL. Anyone who tries to "Marxplain" and "Whatabout" their way out of confronting the reality of this problem is not a friend of Sikhs.

  37. I knew a Pakistani kid at school who was seemingly moderate and westernised. We’d have some craic but sometimes he would froth at the mouth about Islam, saying that it is the greatest and fastest growing religion and that they were going to take over the UK. I stress that this is an alcohol drinking liberal one. Obviously he would never say this to any gora. The purpose of Islam is to dominate non-Muslims - that’s their opium. They pray en masse in the streets in France and in parks in the UK to gain a sense of control over public spaces and to intimidate kafirs. The high birthrate is another expression of the dominance urge. Non-Muslim women are preyed upon to degrade other communities. Look at how insular and inhospitable Pakistan is, you can see what the religion is really like. Same with the gulf Arab countries like Saudi. I have noticed that their percentage is growing in India. There should have been population transfer at partition.

  38. When we look at the reduced muslim birth rate after education, we are looking at 6 children to 3 or 4 children. When our parents had siblings, they were big families with 5-6 brothers and sisters. But they decided to have 2-3 children and that is without being educated. The next generation after that with education have 1-2 children. What does this tell you? Muslim religion is more collectivist in that group think is more important. The educated Muslim female will do what is for the greater good of their deen and their ummah. Us Sikhs are more individualist than Muslims, our educated Sikh women will not do the same for our quam.

It panders to a particular minority that doesn't require "Khalsa aid" because the Ummah is more than capable of providing for its own, which leads me to suspect the whole thing is either an ill-conceived vanity project or - allegedly - a high-level money laundering / trafficking operation considering Singh's ties to the British military. 40. 1. No 2. Emphatically not! 3. Not really - how holy could a City where Muslims were the majority before 1947 (and Hindu's are the majority since 1947) possibly be? 4. It is not essential (after all Amritsar is not our version of Mecca or Benares as Sikhi opposes the "pilgrimage" concept) 5. In terms of what Harmandir Sahib means to the Qaum it is "primus inter pares" (first among equals) for what it means to our Itihaas but if you matha tek before Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj at any other Gurdwara in the world daily that is in no way any less a positive and equal blessing. 41. Bro you make your own luck in life. I understand that with you living in a trailer park in Modoc County it's hard for you to ever go to the Gurdwara but try to expand your horizons. Go to the Gurdwareh in the the Central valley as often as you can and try to run into more of the 100,000 plus strong Sikh population in Cali. Try not to pre-define women as non-Sikh just because they visit a beautician every now and then. If you don't like the Cali girls make a few trips to Vancouver and Seattle. If you don't like girls from the West Coast then keep an open mind for those from Toronto and NY/NJ. And if Diaspora born girls aren't to your liking then consider making six monthly journeys to Punjab. Believe in yourself as a human being and a Sikh. The Gurkha's might be small and they might struggle to put on muscle mass but one of them can easily pump lead into 20 taller Pathans on the battlefield. Make the best of what God has blessed you with. Two eyes, two arms and two legs are better than many others in a worse position in life. Be thankful for what you have, don't judge women too much and you will be fine and you will get married this year I (Bichola Singh) guarantee it! This! This! Most guys will get rejected on online dating. Does that mean you cannot find one wife out of millions of fish in the sea. In the States there are plenty of Gujarati women too who have married Sikhs via Anand Karaj and are proud to be raising their children as Sikhs armed with the knowledge that one of the Panj Piare (Bhai Mokham Singh Ji) was Gujarati. Don't give up on life and don't give up on believing in yourself. You are an intelligent guy. Kudos that you did not cut your kes just to find a wife and I will DM you with options in Cali provided you commit yourself to helping others in your same situation in the future once you are married. That is setting one self up for self-prophesised failure brother. Snap out of this self-pity please. Even all the people who have been enraged by your posts recently care about you as a brother. Don't believe the hype! And so what if you luck out with a gold-digger due to a lack of due diligence then even that experience (what doesn't kill you makes you stronger) will only strengthen your mindset further in life overall in the bigger picture but that's a 5-10% worst case possibility at most and at least you would have tried. Don't just focus on external beauty but try to look at inner characteristics a bit more if you can. Who cares if a few gold-diggers need you to own a ranch in Orange County!? Look for what you want and care about and try and find that instead. These are dangerous stereotypes about Amritdhari's which I strongly disgree with. Whilst that may be true in the circles you mix with but I can assure there are plenty of physically strong "Rehitdhari's" with children unless you are specifically referring to those circles where being unmarried is somehow regarded as "cool" because their God-in-human-flesh-Baba did that! But yes all Sikhs need to be tyaar bar tyaar physically and psychologically if our Qaum is to reach a greater percentage of its inherent and unlimited potential.

  42. Yes but people take advantage of our generosity, it can't all be one way traffic.

  43. There is already a beginning being made. More and more villages need to pass these resolutions until the Gujjars are not able to stay in their deras in Punjab.

  44. There is also a thread from last year about a Hindu fighting to get legislation passed to get ‘Jhatka meat’ labelled similar to Halal Meat in eateries in Punjab. I know this is controversial, but at least by doing this, individuals will get a choice of whether they wish to line the pockets of Muslim businesses, that effectively will end up funding their religious cause and agenda. I can see this being a positive step which would drive our peoples businesses and if applied to Milk this would open up opportunities for Punjabi Sikhs who wish to enter the dairy industry. A simple identifiable mark would enable them to this and rid Punjab of negative foreign invaders.

  45. Wherever our people are targetted, our dastars are targetted. It is known whether it is a Hindu or Muslim to go for our dastar and kes. Then we ask ourselves the question ," we thought us Sardars were so respected" We think it is through our good deeds that we were respected. No, it was through violence we were respected. It is through fear that Hindus and Muslims respect. They have lost fear. There is a Macchiavelli quote that says , " It is better to be feared than loved" Whenever I see the T-Shirts worn by our Singhs that says " Feared by none, Fear no one", I cringe because a little bit of fear for us goes a long way. We have been the nail for too long, we have to become a hammer once more.

  47. Thank you for rationalising and explaining in a far better way Daily's view than possibly he could have done and especially without the use of the derogatory 'pendu' and 'illiterate' pejoratives. Trying to judge the actions of those especially those separated from us by by over a 100 years without understanding the factors at play in the lives of those people is not very fair. This is especially true of Daily as he has virtually no understanding of rural Punjab even today when he could easily get on an aeroplane and go there is under 9 hours so expecting him to understand rural Punjab of 100 years ago would be a big stretch. Let's accept Daily's characterisation of those Sikhs of 100 years ago as 'pendus' 'illiterate' and even 'slaves' as he never tires of describing them. Let's instead look at your own people, the Irish. One could excuse the 200,000 Irish men and women who fought in the first world war for the British as enslaved people forced by their circumstances to join and fight in the army of their colonial masters. But what would then explain the over 70,000 Irish men and women from the Irish republic who fought for the British in WW2? This far surpassed the 35,000 volunteers from 'loyalist' Northern Ireland. While Punjab during both world wars was under British colonial control, the Irish republic was free from the 1920s so why would the Irish fight for their former colonial masters especially as there was an Irish army available for them to join or even opportunities to migrate to America or Canada at that time if the main reason for joining the British army was just economic reasons. Similar to the way that these Sikhs joined the army in the first and second world wars, these youths had a sense of adventure, they wanted to see the world, they wanted to improve the economic circumstances of their families. The difference between the Irish and Sikhs was that while the Irish were never a minority in Ireland, the Sikhs were a small minority in Punjab and as such they had to compete with the two other communities i for government jobs and allocation of educational institutions in their areas. As a small minority the Sikhs had to punch above their weight otherwise they would be subsumed by the other two communities. Part of the punching above their weight had to do with providing recruits in number far greater than their population warranted.

  48. Hi All, I'll try to keep this brief but I'm basically posting this for those in need of help in relation to alcohol/drugs/addiction with the aim of helping those in need. My story in a nutshell: I grew up in your typical punjabi cultured family. My mum has always been spiritual and dad has always been a drinker. My mum had me going to the Gurdwara from a young age and the knowledge has always been instilled within me. Unfortunately, as I grew older my crowd changed. I did well in terms of achieving a degree and a good job but I had also drank heavily during my uni years and started using drugs. My life turned upside down whilst I was stuck in this and I couldn't find or see a way out. I was emotional spiritually and financially dead. I was searching for help and didn't know where to go. A few years back I found sikhsangat online and started posting on here with the hope that I could find some answers and guidance to get myself spiritually connected again and remove myself from the darkness. Many people helped me on here but unfortunately that alone was not enough to keep me sober. Yesterday I logged on to here after 3-4 years off this site. I logged on because I wanted to help others out there who are suffering. I am sober, clean and could not have asked for a better life. Im still in disbelief at times that I managed to turn my life around. Everything is possible with waheguru in your heart. Couple of things I just wanted to say to the users on this forum: Thank you for all your help and guidance when I was on here before. This site saved my life and pulled me out of suicidal states many times. People on here gave me hope and pointed me in the direction of waheguru. Without any of that, I would not be where I am today. If your struggling with any sort of addiction, please reach out to me and message me. There is help for everyone out there. Everything will remain anonymous if you wish. Equally, if your confident sharing your identity, I am in the midlands area and can meet up to talk, help and give guidance. You might ask yourself why am I doing this? i'm doing this to give back to people the same way people gave to me in my hour of need. There is no costs and no judgement. I hope that I can be of service to those in need - I would be happy to give you my story in more detail so you can identify and realise that your not alone. Waheguru

  49. That's exactly my point. But the media coverage doesn't happen in a vacuum. It is orchestrated.
