  3. First and foremost, it's extremely important they pick up English. I will assume they know a little since they're here. English people MAY hire them if their English is decent. Second, ENCOURAGE them to look for better jobs as they do not wanna be banged up in a desi factory all their life. Pick up exp from desi then 6 - 12 months down they wanna go in for an English ran factory. SIA Course! Yes, it's a licence that needs paying for every two years. However, it's worth it!!! Whether Door Supervisor or CCTV monitor doesn't matter. Get them in such courses for security. From experience, Security roles are hard but if we talk about management, more pay and easy going role??? SIA is it. And apne have extreme patience and integrity for such roles (being their for the Business, understanding going above hours). Also if possible get them into construction (harder for female possibly)??? But if they can work in construction they then require CSCS License (literally like car theory, study book, apply for test then get CSCS license on pass). Construction is always contract due to nature of role but a lot of move around the country. I guess wha am saying is... THINK BIG!!! Factory (especially desi factory) is a mere starting point and only good for income. Encourage them to go and think huge!!! FINAL TIP: Tell them to think huge in about 8 months time from now. They only just got in the UK so their mind and heart will not be in ANYTHING, let alone someone telling them to think big. LOL not your fault at all but they will badly miss their family and absolutely hate UK mainly as it's a begana country to them. Once they're happy, having fun then move in with wha I just said. Fateh.

  4. But it is not possible for a women to work as well as take care of 4 children. If we want to entertain the idea of higher children then sikh men have to come to terms with having stay at home wives but is it possible when everything is becoming expensive? I mean the orthodox jewish women who have multiple kids usually stay at home and take care of the kids. For a working women taking care of 4 kids+work+running the home will be very difficult. Im not sure if men are okay with having stay at home wives in today's world?

  5. Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji k Fateh, Another post stating my thoughts and beliefs. Working at a construction site my job is escorting workers / vehicles and looking after things, due to the nature of the institute this is required at the place. The Site manager and supervisor were concerned about me going in the actual construct site due to me unable to wear a hard hat because of the Turban. Not saying anything yet (Manager needed HIS Manager's views) even though I could have had stated "Sikhs are exempt due to Turban..." However, I had to mull it over before stating anything. I looked at the situation and needed a night to think it through. During the week I approached the manager and agreed on my own terms that I will wear a small turban (a.k.a Patka) so a hard hat can fit over. He thanked me for my Considerations. So now I wear a Patka to work. Before we look at the thankful law "Sikhs are exempt from wearing hard hats who wear Turbans" we need to take into consideration other factors. First and Foremost, the Dastaar MUST be a Fortified Dastaar to wear at such work places. When the Sikhs fought a war alongside the Guru Sahibs, their Dastaars were the fully Nihang type Dastaar; Shastar beneath, gol blade (can't remember technical term maybe kalgi)? around it. THEN Dastaar on top (even that had the gol shastar going around it). No matter which direction the Moghul attacked on the Sikh / Kaur's heads, the head would have been completely unaffected due to the Hard Turban tying soldiers. Imagine bricks falling onto somebody's head, from a height, who wore a normal Dastaar? Nokh and a normal gol? That can seriously injure or kill the person. All sorts of trouble will be gone through with the Management, laws, Gurudware committee getting involved all this and that. However, if it falls on someone who's wearing a Fortified dastaar, that person has most chances of surviving. And a Patka wearing with hard helmet? The chance of survival is great. In construction all sorts goes on; carrying ladders, trip hazard, falling materials, tight places, crawling... NOTE: Hard Hats are not a perfect thing in the world as on impact, they can easily break and still get through to the head. However, many accidents and mishaps have been prevented due to their usage. So on ANY construction sites two things are the only best safety. Hard Hats and Fortified Turbans. Anything else is asking for trouble.

  6. There is a sakhi is sooraj prakash about Dasmesh Pita giving an important life lesson to the Khalsa. They get sweet rice prepared in large vats and offered to local dogs, who end up scattering the rice and mauling each other. Process repeated with deer and this time the animals gently circle around the vats and peacefully share the meal. Up to us how we want to treat each other and the resources of the Panth.

  7. People are attracted to strength and look for personal gain. It’s not the nitty gritty offerings of the religion, it’s the material benefit of the grouping that really pulls people in and keeps them there. If we can’t project strength in Punjab, it’s not going to work anywhere else. People need to see it in action to be convinced that giving up membership in the 1 billion-plus hindu conglomerate is worthwhile. Just look at Islam. No matter how horrendous and appalling aspects of their religious doctrine are, muslims stay put. Even knowing full well that there is no way any sane person with a sense of inherent morality can practice their faith to the T, muslims will not abandon ship. Only when a viable option that offers them security and material gain will muslims start leaving, and they have strong gatekeepers to prevent that from ever happening. I think our best course of action is more along the line of what @dallysingh101 keeps reminding us. We need to clean our own house, and that requires some harsh reality checks.

  8. Yuppp. Materialism has ruined us. Another thing I noticed here in Canada we have these annual nagar kirtans like khalsa day parade and stuff and I noticed that they have so many tents of unhealthy food and people just coming to eat as if it's a party and then go to the gurudwara hall and Matha tek and leave. Like people have turned langar into some get together parties for punjabis. Like I always wondered would even half of these people show up if there was no food? We are squandering our little resources in these meaningless things. I see non sikhs all show up , eat the food and leave. It literally feels like a lunch party or something. What will anyone learn by coming to such events? I mean we have been here in the West for decades and sikhs are synonymous with free food community. 99% people here wouldn't know how our ancestors became shaheed so that we have our soverignity which we have foolishly given up on. Now when we become a minority in Punjab as well by 2031 I wonder what will happen? Alot of stupid sikhs feel some sense of security that they are majority in Punjab. Wonder how they would feel within the next 10 years. Our best hope is to preach sikhi to the people near the areas outside of Punjab like haryana and rajasthan and those states like another user was talking about. Punjabis are a lost cause. We have like 10 years from now to be able to regain some of our hope. We all know what needs to be done and we have discussed it multiple times here.

  11. Nah, you're missing the point. It's not about nationalism for the sake of it - it's about having the ability to create a stable geographical location for a people, and having the ability to defend it and create a nourishing environment for Sikhi and Sikhs to flourish in. What you are saying is abdicating all of that in the name of spirituality just like Hindus have been accused of doing by many.

I can understand apnay having to listen to that trash in the early 90s when there was no other 'asian' radio station but now in 2021 when you have so much choice why would any apnay in their right mind chose to listen to Sunrise radio? In the late 80s and early 90s this radio station fomerly called Sina Radio based in Southall which had a majority of Sikhs and Punjabis as listeners chose to not broadcast even 10% Punjabi content but bollywood songs and employed second rate Hindi/ Urdu speakers as their DJs and presenters.

I don’t know if they’re trying to egg us on into targeting their mandirs….but it very could be their game plan to instigate us. We have all seen how sensitive the Indian establishment is about their image from the twitter sh$% show. It’s our image they want to target. Once they can prove to western minds that turbaned sikhs are violent….then their next steps at home are easier to execute. We need to give a measured response to their provocation. See the game in its entirety.

  27. I think Panjabi farmers have been really slow on jumping onto the hemp/cannabis thing. It's like a massively growing global market, and our lot, who have it growing naturally under their nose, don't seem clued up enough to take advantage of it. It could well help diversify the economy back home. I mean it's not like there isn't a massive global demand for it in various ways, or that it hasn't been recognised for its medicinal qualities instead of just being seen as some intoxicant. Instead it takes this route in our 'modren' culture..... <groan>

  33. Wow such a post on a Sikh site and some of the responses makes one wonder whether the posters even understand an iota of Sikhi. Found an interesting article to share. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji KI fateh. Almost daily I come across "Sikhs" who tell me they have so much shardha in Gurbani..they beleive every single word of Gurbani..and this tells them that there are BHOOTS and PRETS.( also YUGS and Reincarnations..84 lakh joons and jamraaj and chitragupts..and and ..and..) I ask them..Have you really studied Gurbani ?? or just read gurbani..superficially... The Difficulty and problem stems from the fact that we Sikhs always proclaim that GURU NANAK began a NEW RELIGION...a NEW system of THOUGHT...a Brand New Philosophy...etc etc BUT then we put on the Same old "spectacles" of Brahminism/vedas/purans...when we attempt to "look" at GURMATT Philosphy espoused in GURBANI. The "technique" Guru Ji used in Wriiting Gurbani is called PRODAWAAD...USE the "same old words" that already well known..BUT GIVE them NEW MEANINGS in line with the NEW GURMATT PHILOSOPHY. Thus we have mention of YUGS, REINCARNATION, BHOOTS, PRETS, 84 Lakh Joons etc etc..ALL these are used just as EXAMPLES..UDHARANS ONLY....to explain the new GURMATT. we cannot see the new gurmatt if we continue to BORROW the Brahmins" spectacles to see what Guru Ji wrote. WHY DID GURU JI THROW WATER at HARDWAAR ?? Does this Mean that We MUST also "THROW WATER" ?? Guru Ji is clearly THROWING WATER...But to TEACH his NEW GURMATT PHILOSOPHY....that THROWING WATER is a useless act...and even IF GURU JI also threw water..we are NOT to DO IT anymore after we read and understand GURBANI. Lets see what are the BHOOTS and PRETS mentioned in Gurbani.. 1.Page 289..SGGS "Saar BHOOT seh Har ka nao sehaj subhai nanak gun gao..... Here "BHOOT" is used for MATERIAL THINGS 2.Page 1202 SGGS "Kart buraee manas te chhapaee, Sathi BHOOT bhavaan"... Here BHOOT is TIME 3. Page 714 SGGS "Bhasma bhoot hoa khin bheetr Keea aapna paiya.." Page 802 SGGS.."Pasu pret mugadh ko tareh pahan paar utareh.. nanak dass teri sarnaii sada sada balihareh...Here GURU has the ability to Make "BHOOTS" ( those without Gunn, Knowledge etc) into GOOD HUMAN BEINGS 14. Page 706.SGGS " Har bhagat bhav heenangNanak PRABH bisrteh preteh..." PRET is one who has forgotten Name of GOD Only Prof sahib Singh ji in His Guru Garanth Darpan has stepped out of the BRAHMIN LKEER ( line of CONTROL) and doen justice to Gurbani aarths...all others have doen these arrths by remaining firmly TIED DOWN to Brahminic/Vedic Thoughts and Rituals..and our so callaed DERAWADEE SANTS and SAADHS and even Taksali Gyanis are lakeer de fkeer..makee te makhee maree jaan walleh..who mindlessly keep repeating these "bhoot bhoot" when GURBANI is s ayign the Direct OPPOSITE of what they preach...and keep pushing the unwary sikh towards the deep ocean of Hinduism and its bhoot prets and 33 krorr devtas and such myths... Actually there are no Bhoot Pret Joonis...there is not a single tuk of Gurbani that declares that such a BHOOT pret can enter a Human Body and take possesiion of it..all such are MANSAK Sicknesses..sickness of the MIND and should be treated as such by medical professionals...not akhautee saadhs and sants reading gurbani over glasses of water and sprinkling them over such mentally disturbed persons.. Har ke naam heen BETAAL..Jeta karan karavan teta Sabh bandhan Janjaal..and also.....Koi Kaheh BHOOTNA koi BETALLA.... if such a Modern SAADH-SANT say from baba Wadbhag Singh Dera had come across GURU NANAK JI...he would have sat down to take out "Guru nanak Ji's BHOOT also...because Guru Ji declares ..People call me Bhootna, betalla..so whose "bhoot" is in GURU NANAK JI ?? Gurbani clearly declares that humans who dont have Naam, gunns, good deeds, knowledge of God are the BHOOTS in HUMAN FORM... a small story. A man approached Guru Gobind Singh ji and pleaded that he saw BHOOTS/PRETS..and was frightened. Guru Ji asked him.. Have you taken Khandeh batte dee Pahul..Do you Do Nitnem...Do you read Gurbani Paath... and he repleid NO Guru Ji. Guru Ji then replied..to me YOU are the BHOOT/PRET...for without the Naam of Gurbani a Human is BHOOT/PRET. Any human who is not having love of God in him, does bad things, cannot see God in everyone...is a Living BHOOT/PRET..and GURBANI hs the Power to make such a bhoot into a good Human being. NO "DEAD" person can enter into any living human...so dont fall for that saadh/Sant/Tantrik trick to relieve you of your money...and SANITY and PEACE of MIND. 34. What are ghosts and spirits, they are just entities/forms of life/form of energy that exists in another plane of existence (sometime it's another dimension that exists in the space we exist in). Ultimately they like us are a creation/manifestation of Maharaj's hukam and they must answer to him also. Every demon and if there is such thing as a devil must also answer to him. Focus on the Akal. He is the true mystery, he is the ultimate power.

  35. I was speaking in general, i've seen people on both ends of the spectrum, those that are complete fakes and end up ruining peoples lives and a few that have something about them that you can't really explain. In Smethwick there are a lot of "Baba's" around, most are fake, same as anywhere where there are a lot on asians, they'll take advantage of you and change your mindset into thinking the way they do, it happened with my in-laws years ago when a "highly" religious lady from Smethwick had them following her around like dog's, she would tell them things that she could not know, i got annoyed at the whole thing and did some digging, turned out she would have her husband and her kids go around investigating people to find out stuff about them and then make it look as though she had some divine vision that came and told her, the in-laws didn't believe a word i said but thankfully they parted ways with her by themselves. At the end of the day, people take advantage of other's, they'll find a weakness, and illness for instance, and focus in on that until you have no choice but to believe the snakeoil they are selling, as i've said, there are a few who are genuine, i've got no idea if the person you met was, all i can say is carry on doing what your doing, waheguru will protect you.

I thin our conscious may go with us up until a certain point, the story i referenced earlier (that i can't find now), i remember the gentleman saying he slowly forgot about his earthly life as he entered a state of bliss and pure love. We also say "Aaatma" has left the body after someone passes, that would be your soul, maybe that carries some element of your consciousness with it. I've no idea what happens, there are a few like my Grandmother who got a peak behind the curtain, i think all we can do is be decent human beings and remember his name.

Nothing good ever comes of wishing ill on someone else, i'll come back onto you, trust me, I've had it happen to me, it's taken me a long time to learn not to wish negativity onto others and doing a negative ardaas, listen, we do ardaas for the betterment of everyone, if your going to wish on someone while doing ardaas you've already let yourself down and learnt nothing from your Guru's.

  40. I see this kind of stuff all the time where i live, Gujarati's have an obsession with this stuff, you go out early enough and you'll see them throwing limes tied up with chilli's on every crossroad they can find, not so nice later on in the day when you have to drive over them, coconuts with red string and various things tied to them thrown in the river all the time, it's great fun calling them out on it and they run away with their heads held in shame. Punjabi people are just as bad, at one of the Gurdawara's here people have been caught leaving Mongi di Daal at various place as well as kids shoes and all type of other paraphernalia, people aren't even afraid of the house of god. I have a simple philosophy when it come's to stuff like this, i don't mess with it, i was taught from a young age to do mool mantar every time i felt something was wrong, whether it's an actual thing or a psychological thing that happens based on suggestion i don't know.
