  4. Back in the days, women of Panjab wore either a Suthan style trouser (which could be loose or tight), a Ghagra or a Tehmat/Dhoti (mainly west Panjab). They wore a Kurti, which was shorter than the modern Kameez and if you go a bit back, some could be seen wearing a Choli too. Suthan style trousers eventually evolved into the modern salwar during the 1900s. Typical dress of a Panjabi women from Amritsar 1875. The Suthan looked like this. These photos range from the the 1870s to early 1900s. The Ghagra was worn over trousers when heading outside, mainly by Sikh and Hindu women. The Dhoti or Tehmat was mainly worn by Muslim Panjabi women from a certain area of west Panjab as Sikh women preferred a Ghagra.

  6. Trying telling the sikh females to keep licenced weapons and learn shastar vidiya... the sexist b****** still believe they live in a man’s world and only men should wear shastar and learn the vidiya, totally brainwashed fat <banned word filter activated> to lazy to learn or lead disciplined lives. Look how obese they become after just one pregnancy and never even try to lose the weight gained. After all, that’s why god gave them huge traps so to eat and eat till they dead and gossip and do nindiya of everyone who walks upright with two legs. They will never learn.

  8. That's shocking, he was so young. I wasn't a fan of his gun promoting music but no one deserves this. RIP. I wonder what the motive could be. This will probably promote him to Chamkila like eternal fame.

  9. It's like you have to micromanage them or they're guaranteed to do dumb, contrived crap like this. Plus how old is Jajjy? I swear he's a middle-aged man now - a bit old for all this surely - but then maybe his main audience demographic are a bit mentally under-developed anyway. F**k all this low IQ jut bollox. People wonder why we Sikhs are behind so many other quoms - take a good look above for a big part of the answer. What planet are these lot on. And then you have other jut fudhoos (and fudhnees) complaining about blacks when their own lot are mimicking them left right and centre (as you can see above). Couldn't make it up. I don't know if it's true but there have been rumours that he's been robbed of his khanda necklaces a few times in E. London too (back in the day).

  11. Harmonium is not what our guru sahib jee used. However, i have no quarrel whether to use it to not as long as focus is 100% being devoted to Gurbani. In Sikh culture, salwar kameez and kurta pajama is also not our culture either. Not many ppl are aware of this.

  13. We need to squarely face that given our current numbers, we'll have to deal with 'economies of scale' so we'll be unlikely to be able to sell at prices comparable to similar mass produced mainstream items that have a large consumer base. I think the above sells at around £20 for instance. I'd say we have enough exemplar career types right now, we need to connect kids to their heritage more than this in whichever way we can. Your point about relatability depends on where the kids are growing up and the character of Sikhs around them. I don't know about the current generation, but in the recent past there were strong, brave Sikhs who confronted things like race attacks etc., so it shouldn't be too much of a stretch. Plus I noticed that a lot of Sikhs seem overtly 'nerdy' in the US - outright braces, cheesy gormless grins and bifocals - parents should take and make efforts to sharpen them out of this at a young age if they can (that's if they recognise this even!) Was talking to someone who was thinking of trying to produce some kids books, and the point about having puerile, non-based sakhis came out, the conclusion was that such works need to incorporate a slight gritty dark edge to avoid the kids turning into unrealistic lulloos when older. Been thinking about that graphic novel I posted about previously, it's such a shame that the diaspora panth (who would be the main consumers) couldn't forkout the £9000 being asked for. That's like £3000 each from the UK, US and Canada - where we all know we have plenty of loaded apnay. If anyone reading is one of these loaded apnay - please support and fund these things and maybe have one less flash motor or slightly less designer clothes.

It’s only been a few years since the arts of archery and stick fighting were discussed in such a way that should [today's] young British-educated men have heard it, they would've considered it astounding. Sardars like Amar Singh Majittia, Buddh Singh, Wasava Singh Sandawalia and many other chieftains could shoot arrows straight through [metal] cauldrons; their arrows striking whichever targets they desired. Bhai Mani Singh ji’s nephew, [who was] the author of this historical document's forefather [called] Baba Dargaha Singh ji could 'pierce the word' meaning that even in the dark, they could accurately shoot an arrow into the mouth or body of anyone who made a sound. In the town of Kankhal these matters are spoken of by many men and they will inform you of as much because they [the previously mentioned sardars] used to go there. Even their camp is well known at that place. There, they shot arrows straight through many trees and I have seen stick fighters who have reached a point where they can keep a crow trapped underneath a bed. I’ve seen other materials of war like steel chainmail, belts, body armour and helmets that were so heavy that the strapping youth of today would just about be able to pick them up and those Singhs would go to war wielding and wearing weaponry and chainmail that was twice as heavy or they would undergo forced marches of approximately 50 kilometres (20 koh) with such weaponry and armour. They would only stop to rest after reaching destinations roughly 100 kilometres away and that too carrying any looted materials that came to hand. I I believe that the young, strapping lads of today may have trouble accepting such strength and martial skills to be a reality because they haven't even seen those bows, let alone string one? In this fashion, many arts and skills - after reaching a highly developed stage become extinct at the hands of time. Prior to 1914 Bikram there were quivers packed with many varieties of arrows, guns, matchlocks, stone-cutting sabres, javelins, spears and pikes. Coats of mail and armoury, as well as weaponry such as punch daggers, Afghani stilettos, revolvers, pistols, shields and so forth were kept in each and every home. All the people would be learning or teaching the art of weaponry, and even whilst seated within their own homes they remained as true soldiers.

  17. Don't think it's related to badals veerji. In my previous posts and in posts by other Sangat members a few years ago, they mentioned about how Khalsa Raj is in our lifetime. Many people like to dismiss this unfortunately and have no faith in Bachans of Mahapurakhs. What They tell us is just the end result. Khalsa Raj is going to happen in our lifetime, but when many people hear this they think we are referring to it happening magically without any work. All the events that are happening now are towards preparation of Khalsa Raj and all of these are in Vaheguru ji's khel. Bad times will be for those who do tyranny Bhul Chuk Maf ji Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh ji

  18. It's about time they pivot back to the Panth, even if out of compulsion. Sadly though, many of our brethren back home will side with AAP and Kejriwals puppet, Bhagwant Mann, and actually oppose this message by pinning it as a survival attempt by Badal through proxy. Sitting from afar, it just goes to show what a convoluted mess we have back home.

  19. Well, but what the brother above is saying is not to devilishly create master schemes, but simply stay out of the way. Just stay home and do some keertan, or watch Who Wants to Become a Crorepati if that's your flavor. Nothing is better than interceding on behalf of Abrahamics.

  21. I think we don't even have to get involved so much, watch this video which is about when some Hindutvis protested against Muslay coming out of the Mosque every Friday shouting the slogan "Allah Hu Akbar", look at how our so called Panthic media and Panthic leadership went running to stand with the Muslims. What do we gain from this? These people will never support us if we face any issues and they stood with the Kashmiri paedophile last year and yet we bend over backwards for them.
    1 point
  22. I agree with you 100%. On our side we need to unite and we need to have Panthic organisations similar to the RSS and Bajrang Dal. Until the gandh of the Badal took over Akali Dal we have Jathas attached to each Gurdwara and we could count on getting a couple of thousand Sikhs together at short notice. The lack of mobiisation is what we suffer from. If on the first day when the events happened 5000 Sikhs had gathered around the village, the local administration and the police would have wet themselves and been running around seeking a resolution to the issue. So instead of them writing out FIRs against the kisans we could have used the threat of mob violence to make sure the FIRs were just for manslaughter and not murder and our people could have got out on bail in a few days instead of them being on the run or afterwards facing languishing in jail for years before betting bail. We still do not understand the power of the mob in the Indian political system. The Gujjars understood this so they not only managed to get all the FIRs registered against the Kisans but also stopped any FIRs against the Gujjars who had attacked the Sarpanchni's husband and left him half dead. Amritpal Singh Sandhu is now the president of Waris Punjab De and his take on this issue is one I don't think any Sikh will have any objections to.

  23. Oh comeon, Sikhs have been crying about RSS for decades. We have become a joke because it seems we have a psychological fear of RSS just the way Muslims have one from Jews and tend to blame everything on them and fear them for their intellect and shrewdness.
    1 point
  24. RSS is already there. They are already handling Muslims at their own level. Last time they clashed with Muslims in Phagwara, Sikhs took no time to rush to that spot to support these Muslims. Is this what you want? Embolden Muslims ? The Punjabi Hindu does not have the spine to stand against Sikhs, therefore I do not fear them. But the Gujjar will not hesitate to attack, rape and commit mass murder of Sikhs. Thus I am asking to stop obstructing RSS when they attack Muslims or Christians. Use their cover and do what you have to do as well. If you send Singhs to surround villages here in Punjab, expect similar reactions from Pak Muslims to Pak Sikhs. In '92 Hindus destroyed the Babri Mosque in India. But Sikhs were targeted along with Hindus in nearly every Muslim country (Pak, Afghan etc). Therefore openly doing things and especially posting about it on social media is not a good thing.

  25. It is better to have an enemy you know than an enemy you don't know. While historically we know the Muslim psyche, most Sikhs in Punjab have forgotten what Islamism looks like because they haven't had direct exposure to it since 1947. Their only exposure is the Pak Muslim hospitality when yatrees go to Pak, which skews their perception of reality. On the other hand, RSS, Shiv Sena are known to us because we have fought them for decades. Therefore we will ensure that the Hindu RW does not get out of control. If you let them do your dirty work it does not make them more powerful because you are not aiding them in any way, you are just 'letting' them finish of a common enemy. Next time a riot happens, do not F.CKING side with Muslims - unlike the last riot I remember where our fuddu Sikhs rushed to help their becharey Muslim minority brothers (Phagwara incident was one of the many). Let me put it in another - perhaps controversial - way. A Sikh under the influence of RSS will not stop going to Gurdwaras, will not stop venerating our Gurus because they, but a Sikh gone to Islam and Christianity is lost forever. The son of a RSS influenced Sikh may get back to the Panth but you lose generations once one person converts to these Abrahamic religions. Therefore it is very important to limit the growth of Abrahamics; Hindus we have handled well and they are under control in Punjab.
    1 point
  26. The easiest and best solution is to get Hindu right wing involved in Punjab. This way you get your work done (taming Christians and Muslims) and BJP center won't say anything. Remember what we were doing when RSS was crying about Sikhs converting to Christianity 20 years back ? We were attacking RSS because we prefered abrahamic missionary religions due to the false notion of being common minorities than letting RSS do their job. We were in fact OBSTRUCTING RSS when they were doing ghar vaapsi of Sikhs who had become Christians. We are a bunch of fools and know nothing about chanakya niti, we are too afraid to manipulate people, qaums or nations. This is one thing that needs to change because even people on this forum do not realize the need to play things smartly. Every single action against the Muslims in Punjab will have repercussions for Sikhs in Kashmir, Pakistan etc. Hence the best thing is to covertly get things done without making too much noise on social media. But as my elders used to say, we Sikhs even take credit for killings we haven't done. That is our mentality which needs a change otherwise things will get ugly (either way if we continue to ignore the situation or if we do things without taking the wider geo-political implications into consideration).

  27. That's a question that came to my mind, this will put these Hinduvis into quite a quandary, but I think that essentially they will support us. This is probably the best time to sort out the problem of these Gujjars, if you read all the comments online the 90% of apnay and Hindus are supporting the Kisans. It is interesting that these comrades are playing their dirty games with this issue as well as Jatinder Chinna of Kirti Kisan Union and supporting the Gujjars. He got confronted by Sikhs while he was trying to take the side of the Gujjars. I wrote a few months ago that we need to unite as a people and we need to confront the liberals and their allies because they people have shown that they will always stand with the Muslims against us. I think people are definitely waking up in Punjab. The fact that Ravi Singh and his KA clowns have kept out is that they know that the issue is one where no amount of BS Punjabiyat and Bhaicharak sanjh will undo the damage the Gujjars have done.

  29. Great news. 1. Gujjars (and Muslims in Punjab) will be unmasked on a state wide level with the growing number of these incidents. Slowly the secular, tree hugging - termite - Sikhs will also wake up. 2. Sikhs fought back and killed 2 sullahs who said they were going to kidnap our women which sends a message across these Gujjars and Muslims overall that we can still kill for our honor (izzat) and anakh (self respect). Gujjars hate Sikhs and have sheltered Kashmiri terrorists in the past who have launched terror attacks within Punjab. They are known to amass illegal weapons in their deras and have built mosques all over Punjab. I predict riots or a massacre of these Gujjars in Punjab within the coming decade. Funny how our [Punjabi] media always betrays us, they are showing only the Muslim side in this news clip below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIp-lpPirSY Muslims are playing the minority card as always, milking the system as usual. 31. I think they do have the balls but sikhs get in the way and always side with the other people. Rss/shiv sena have been very vilified by sikhs in punjab so whenever there is a clash between rss/shiv sena sikhs will always take the other side even if the other side is in the wrong. Bhamans these days aren't all weak and skinny like how they used to be with their dhotis! Iv seen some young bhaman lads from the pind that are well built go gym and could put up a fight with any sikh jatt lad. They ain't all skinny and wimpy like they used to be in the past. Bhamans from the shahrs are more nerdy though. Watch whenever someone decides to drive these Christian's out of pubjab it will most likely be the hindus. Very unlikely sikhs will drive them out. Sikhs see hindus as the big bad guy and always feel the need to jump in defense of whoever the hindus have beef with. When in reality the abrahamics are a far bigger threat. This auto set mode od jumping to the defense of whoever hindus have beef with could backfire on sikhs.

  32. Do one on wifi and one on your mobile network with a different name/email as due to different ip addresses it will be logged as complaints from two different individuals. I have already done so and posted it below as a guide for you: https://ssl.bbc.co.u.../?reset=#anchor --> Complaint website My Complaint: I would like to express my anger and frustration with an incident that occurred during Sunday Morning Live. My anger is divided into three parts: the clear misrepresentation of the Sikh faith and its principles by the BBC, the constant undermining of Jagmeet Singh by Sian Williams and the severe lack of reporting by the BBC regarding the ongoing crisis in Panjab. During the programme, the issue of interfaith marriages was discussed. This is a topic which has caused a large amount of distress in the Sikh community. For many people, such as myself, we feel that the media has not allowed us to articulate our reasoning for being against a Sikh and a non-Sikh partaking in the Anand Karaj ceremony in a Gurdwara. Jagmeet Singh from Basics of Sikhi, who was one of the panelists discussing this, tried very hard to explain this issue. He was constantly interrupted by Sian Williams and Edwina Currie before being allowed to finish his point. I found this very unpleasant as it played directly into the narrative that the media is not interested in hearing the Sikh point of view. Jagmeet Singh also tried to raise the issue of the recent killing of three Sikhs in Panjab during the last three days of which the BBC has reported next to nothing. In raising awareness, he was belittled by Sian Williams. WHY IS THE BBC TREATING SIKHS LIKE THIS? WHY DO DEATHS IN ISRAEL OR TURKEY MATTER BUT NOT THOSE IN PANJAB? DO SIKH LIVES NOT MATTER TO YOU?

  33. I mean even outside of events in Panjab. The way the panel appears to have been selected, and the condescending rubbish from the host regarding the Sikh perspective of Anand Karaj was disgusting. It just seemed like another western ploy to push the 'love will conquer all' philosophy and make us look like backward, primitive savages.

  35. That's more of a reason to stay aloof from both of them. Inevitably you're going to get shafted one way or another. I hear what you are saying about right-wingers being blatant with their ish, but remember when they find an apna dumb and gullible enough, they will muppetise them, and that person won't see it coming. So they are as capable of doing that sneaky ish as leftys. Their strategy usually is to try and create scenarios where we are at sullays throat doing their dirty work for, or with them. That's exactly what edl and bnp were trying. With leftys, they dream of a mass movement of unity, so the more sophisticated and numerical Muslims become more important than the troublesome Sikh minority.
    1 point
  36. At least with right wingers you know where you stand with them. The ones on the left are ones you need to look out for.
    1 point
  37. I don't think so. I don't think you're not old enough to remember when right wingers had their sway. Right wingers actually employ more of the tradition Brit divide and conquer strategies on us, inline with the imperialists of the past that they idolise. Truth is that none of these people truly like Sikhs. Leftys hate us because we aren't victims, and have our own ideas outside of their John Lennon 'Imagine' one. when we have genuine grievances like grooming etc. they make out like we are being racist. Right wingers see us a occasionally useful idiots to patronise and slap down as requirements dictate. We need to stay aloof from both right and left wing. Arse licking EDL/BNP/Daily Mail type fudhoos is as bad as what Sanghera and Sian get up to. People need to be careful about acting in a way that makes Sikh issues appear to be conflated with racist, right wingers. It just totally kills our arguments and reputation. Exactly like right wingers. Okay, they might not censor it but they will at least rigorously try to attack, ridicule and defame any contrary opinion to theirs.
    1 point
  38. Agreed.I do not like talking about caste. The leftists are actually worse and more racist than the right wingers. But they hide it and are authoritarian. They try to censor free speech particularly if it is against their agenda. From Facebook page, very useful regarding media dealing: To Basics of Sikhi, The next time "The Media" asks you for a Sikh Representative please ask the following: 1. What is the main exact topic of conversation. (Cultural/Faith) 2. How LONG is the Segment and who is the presenter. 3. Who else has been invited to the segment (seated or video feed) and their background/representation/experience. 4. Which faith/s is the segment focused on as the backstory, those individuals age/maturity, life experience and whether practicing/non-practicing. 5. What other segments the proposed segment links to BEFORE or AFTER the proposed segment you have been requested for. (i.e Hardeep Singh Kohli) This will give you time to meditate on and prepare for the topic. You could also see if any uninformed guests or linked FOLLOWING topics are or could represent a direct subliminal comparative reflection of Sikhs (Hardeep Singh Kohli) to the wider public/viewers as a subtle yet indirect reference to the topic being discussed. If the discussion is about marriage or relationships please send a learned FEMALE Sikh advocate as representation. Psychologically she will be more appealing and received as easily as female TV presenters are but with a valid Sikh perspective. If the topic in question is sensitive to the wider Sikh audience due to the immediate unrecognised climate of Human Rights or faith defilement in the Punjab you have the right to politely ask the BBC to rethink its broadcast. The above points will give you enough clarity to measure the weight of any presentation/topic. If you feel during the broadcast you're valid experienced practiced way of life is being misrepresented, ignored or being used as leverage to make a cultural affirmation to the many uninformed immature (due to age and experience) Sikh minds/viewers you have the right to contest this in advance or simply get up during the interview say "Thank You I feel I cannot continue with this presentation as it seems the practiced/mature experience of my input and the people I represent is being ignored or misrepresented for the cultural aspirations of the topic, I bid you Good Bye"....and simply walk off the set.

  39. That's why I think inter-caste marriages are so important, A few of them (Sikhs) have married in my family, I think they start seeing themselves as more Sikh after this. You know they get exposed to other ideas, and their kids have less of a Hindufied upbringing. Also [big point], if you're older, you'd remember that for the longest time Sikhs used to routinely ridicule and denigrate Panjabi Hindus as weak effeminate cowards in line with British 'race theory' (this haughty behaviour was very common when I was growing up) , I believe some of what Panjabi Hindus do in ridiculing Sikhs is payback for this. The reason I'm pointing this out is as a warning of the long term legacies of egoistic behaviour. That doesn't excuse what they do, but again, there are lessons to learn for us too. Look, the truth is that NO ONE likes the idea of a strong, united, bonded Sikh society. NO ONE! Whether English, Pakistani, Hindu and given their actions, even many of our own people get uncomfortable with the idea and jump into the camp that is calling out extremists and fundamentalist or whatever. Plus we know that mainstream media fuels itself by amplifying the voices of these people. The biggest tactic of whites is to get people from within your own community to attack you, so they can mask their blatant racism. As we go on and strengthen our community, we'd better get used to such people and tred carefully, not to give them too much ammunition against us. Really, the reasons they are so pissed at the Anand Karaj thing is that they know this will help bolster our numbers and identity - that is the real reason. A lot of people, white, Muslim, Hindu would like us to melt away into the mainstream and disappear or become completely knocked out of shape as to have no real power, and if we aren't careful we might end up doing that. That's why they can get loads of people to go virodh us. On another point, I feel that Brits, feeling deflated and scared from trying to deal with Islamic 'fundamentalism' is now training its guns on us, who they see as a much softer target for their control freakery. I think we will be villianised in the media much more in future in this respect. Because the tossers know that we are unlikely to start beheading them or blowing ish up. They always do this. After they meet some strong resistance, they lick their wounds by trying to pick on a much easier target and build up their knocked, superiority complex through doing this. Having had their arses whooped dealing with sullay, today they make themselves busy saving Britain from the danger of Sikhs defining their own marriage practices.

  40. We have to wake ALL our people up to how Brits did all sorts of manipulative things to control us (which still effect us to this day). Some docile brothers and sisters still haven't clocked this yet. By the way certain apnay still sing white man's song - goray have struck a victory, but we will bring our people back their senses.

  41. I'd add that Jagmeet also showed nonSikhs in the UK that we aren't all meek, compliant sheep to the mainstream either. One of my nonSikh teacher friends rang me earlier to talk about it. lol It's truly mad, mainstream are obsessed with controlling Sikh marriage practices but don't give a toss about Sikhs getting murdered. Bunch of hypocrite, control freak tossers. At least we have all learned now: if who want your voice heard through them, you have to force it through. Jagmeet showed that we can get our voice out despite the racist agenda and attempted suppression of mainstream media.
