  5. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-59901035 A man who beat his father to death with a cricket bat and a metal dog bowl has been jailed for a minimum of 20 years. Santokh Singh, 59, known as Charlie, was attacked by his son Phillip Badwal, 25, at their home in Airedale Road, Bradford, on 30 November 2020. Bradford Crown Court heard Badwal, who was on bail at the time of the attack, inflicted "unspeakable violence" after an argument with his father. He initially denied murder but changed his plea on day two of his trial. Read more Yorkshire stories Mr Singh, who had worked as a publican and an engineer, suffered extensive skull fractures, fractures to his face and nose and a broken leg during the 20-minute attack at the family home. Judge Jonathan Rose described the murder as "a savage, brutal and prolonged attack on a defenceless and vulnerable man". The court heard Badwal had previously subjected his father to threats and violence and had forced him to go out and buy drugs for him as well as pay off drug debts. The day before the attack Mr Singh had gone with relatives to see a new flat, having said how unhappy he had been in the family home. After the attack Badwal called drug dealer numbers instead of emergency services. He also tried to cover his tracks by throwing the cricket bat over a neighbour's fence, disposing of his phone and telling police his father had come home that morning badly injured. Barrister Peter Moulson QC said Badwal's addiction to drugs was the root cause of the offending and his client could not recall what had happened in the house. At the time of the attack, he was on bail for his involvement in multiple street robberies and was jailed for five years at Leicester Crown Court in May. Speaking after the hearing Det Supt Tony Nicholson, said: "Badwal unleashed a serious and sustained assault on his father in the house that they shared, leaving him with injuries which were to sadly prove fatal. "Rather than seek urgent medical attention for his seriously injured father, Badwal contacted drug dealers before finally ringing the emergency services, who, despite their best efforts, were unable to revive Mr Singh." ---- Mod Note: Due to your majority of your anti-sikh posting of news articles (mostly all negative), we will be looking forward a bit balance from your account. 15. The attack happened at a Pentecostal church in the Punjab state, raising fears among the local Christian communities for their safety as the call for increased protection from the Punjabi government. The targeted church is located in Amritsar, the state’s largest city and the site of Sikhism’s main place of worship, the Golden Temple.According to the Union of Catholic Asian News (UCAN), four people armed with guns stormed the church as Christians were leaving a meeting on Friday, October 23.The network did not say if the assailants were men or women.Witness Jaspal Masih, whose father is the church pastor said he immediately dropped to the floor when he heard the sound of bullets being fired. He told UCAN: “Four persons armed with guns entered the church and opened fire at us.“I laid flat on the ground and saved my life.”Mr Masih’s cousin was not so lucky and died in the attack.https://www.express.co.uk/news/world...hristians-shot

  16. It seems that the Valmikis and other communities are leveraging their position by going their own way and creating their own adi -dharm. They are doing a lot of outreach in these communities, helping with books and education etc. If this is a pattern that is emerging then it means converting to Christianity is no longer a preferred option and Evangelicals and other christian denominations are becoming irrelevant. That is because the evangelicals and missionaries cannot bribe their way into converts. Combined with Ghar Wapsi (I think Modi understands the intra-Hindu game being played here), there is a harder push to get these 'Christians' back into dharmic fold. I think this why the Christian churches in Punjab have shifted their priorities to target our Sikhs and other Hindu groups. The shooting in the Church looks increasingly like a power struggle to get the converted Valmikis into adi-dharm or into mainstream hinduism.

  19. There are so many different denominations of Christianity but the church is Pentacostalist. I have heard of it, but never knew what it actually is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentecostalism This particular brand of Christianity is not really about the bible, but it seems to be more believing in the spirit of Jesus and uttering words or something and baptisms. I have provided the link, but it would be interesting that other than the money/bribe aspect, what kind of things would entice Punjabis into Pentacostalism. This whispering uttering of certain words and having spirits entering you and excorcising spirits seem to be very popular in Sub-Saharan Africa, sounds very shamanistic. From a Punjabi context, what existing practices would find similarity with this brand of Christianity that Punjabis would be enticed.

  24. Of course we are! Or we are the descendents of recent economic migrants. But a certain type of hypocritical whitey (e.g. many of those in Australia, US and other nonwhite territories that have been usurped by europeans) - is wilfully blind to the fact that they themselves are 'immigrants' or their descendents (well more like hostile invaders). Take Australia for example, where a big portion of the white population descend from 'transported' convicts. Sure some of them may have been political prisoners but the majority weren't. England basically off-loaded a lot of their degenerates and scum out there. Even up to recent times they would send orphans there to bolster white numbers (many of whom were sexually abused after arriving - presumably because of their vulnerability)? My point was in response to you 'minority rules' point. Underneath the facade there seems to be deep seated fear by many white europeans about their 'races' future survival. That will probably lead to their true nature coming out, as we can see in the US. I don't think 'minority rules' like you are suggesting. And if the politics of recent decades has curtailed white supremacy somewhat - that can very easily and quickly change.

  27. The reason Africans do better is because most of them (particularly those from West Africa) came here as professionals with degrees whereas the ones from the Caribbean obviously didn't. The Afro Caribbeans have assimilated into western/white working class culture (and with that comes poor academic attainment and low social mobility). The other reason is those form the Caribbean have an individualist culture (Like White Brits) whilst Africans have more of a collectivist one

  29. So why are parents in Southall and Slough (my hometown) doing such things. In those towns it's more like 'spot the white person'. As for names like Sukhdeep, the Sikhs born here would know the innuendo associated with that name and avoid it. They can go for a simple easy to pronounce name like Preeti. No need for 'Jessica'. But some people are hell bent on giving their kids a western name and will look for any excuse to so.

  31. DESPITE WEAKENING ECONOMY, PAKISTAN APPROVES 1 BILLION FOR CONSTRUCTION AT BABA GURU NANAK UNIVERSITY CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Despite day by day weakening economy, the Pakistan government has approved PKR 1 billion for continuing the construction of Baba Guru Nanak University at Nankana Sahib. On June 27, western Punjab’s CM Usman Buzdar approved ‘Baba Guru Nanak University Budget Bill 2020’ for the second phase of construction at Baba Guru Nanak University, under which PKR 1 billion will be spent for the construction of hostel, administrative block, and classrooms. A wave of ardency is being observed among the Pakistani Sikhs as soon as the completion of construction work at Baba Guru Nanak University is heading towards completion. Baba Guru Nanak University will benefit thousands of students living in villages nearby to Sri Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Jadaanwala, Okada, etc. It may be recalled here that the foundation stone of Baba Guru Nanak International University (BGNU) was laid in Nankana Sahib on July 12. The Pakistan government is likely to spend more than 2.5 billion rupees to develop a high standard infrastructure over 70 acres land allotted to the University. https://www.sikh24.com/2020/06/28/despite-weakening-economy-pakistan-approves-1-billion-for-construction-at-baba-guru-nanak-university/#.XzV1k-hKg2w

  33. Thanks all. He has found accomodation. He will share a house with few other students from India to minimize costs. It seems like a lot of Apne are trying to make a quick buck out of Indian students. He was quoted almost £300/month by one Singh and that was sharing a room with another student. He also said that he got a lot of stares at the gurdwara. There has been a large influx of students in UK due to change in English requirements. I don't think the existing Punjabis are warming up to the idea.

  35. I was once stranded in Birmingham as all trains stopped due to stormy weather/snow. So I had to stay 1 night to catch the next train the following day to London. Guess what I tried the Soho gurdwara in Bham if they had a place to stay for the night as could not a find a hotel at such short notice. I was just fobbed off and told all rooms are gone and also given a rude look. Like I shouldn't have asked. Those people at that Gurdwara are very hostile to everyone for some reason. Eventually ended up finding a a good Airbnb which came in handy.

  37. Video: Teenager who attacked elderly man in Coventry street who has now died could face new charges 7 Nov 2013 11:01Sentencing of nineteen-year-old for assault delayed while tests are carried out to determine cause of death Attack on pensioner An 80-year-old man who was attacked by a young woman in Coventry city centre has died. The teenager responsible for assaulting Joginder Singh in Trinity Street could now face new charges. Mr Singh, aged 80, of Cannon Park, died on Sunday. He had been pushed to the ground in Trinity Street on August 10. The incident was caught on camera and shown on the internet. Coral Millerchip, 19, has already admitted a charge of assault, and will be sentenced after a separate matter has been concluded. That hearing is likely to be subject to significant delays now that Mr Singh has passed away. Det Chief Insp Matt Markham from Coventry CID, said: “Following the assault Mr Singh was readmitted to hospital and was being treated for a diagnosed condition and at this stage it is unclear if that is directly connected with the assault.“ Our thoughts remain with the family and those affected by Mr Singh’s death and we will continue to work with CPS and the coroner to establish the cause of death.“ Specialist family liaison police officers have been appointed to liaise with Mr Singh’s next of kin and we will continue to support the family at this sad time. ”Mr Singh was reported to be “fighting for his life” when Millerchip first appeared in Coventry Magistrates Court in August. During the hearing prosecutor Pamela Meinert said that Mr Singh was in a critical condition in hospital. She added that it was not known whether his condition was anything to do with the attack. Mr Singh was discharged from hospital after the attack but was later re-admitted for treatment of a previously diagnosed condition. A post-mortem examination of Mr Singh’s body, carried out on Monday, was inconclusive. Further tests are now being carried out to try and establish what caused his death. Detectives have notified the Crown Prosecution Service who will now make a decision on what further action will be taken. Police say any further court hearing is likely to be delayed until next year. Responding to Mr Singh’s death Coun Harjinder Singh Sehmi said: “It’s really bad news - an extremely sad day for the community. “She (Coral Millerchip) has already admitted that she attacked Mr Singh - there’s nothing more that can be said really. “Any decision about what happens now is in the hands of the Crown Prosecution Service and ultimately the courts. ”The attack was caught on camera with thousands of people viewing the video and commenting on what they saw." http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/teenager-who-attacked-elderly-sikh-6280750
