Look, the same points you made about Gujarati Kenyans, I can say the same thing about Sikh/Punjabi Kenyans. They were more educated on average than immigrants direct from India. I worked with a Gujarati from India and he told me that Gujaratis are not known for being educated. Compare Gujaratis from Kenya to Punjabis from Kenya and also Gujaratis from India to Punjabis from India.

I am talking from personal experience. The Punjabis were working in factories mostly. Mostly from villages. Opening a shop is seen as marginally better. Plus being peaceful they made a positive impact on the perception of Indians generally. Gujjus were also better qualified and hence became accountants too. The fact that they came with nothing is not because they had nothing as most had huge assets in Africa which they were forced to leave behind. The fact is that the Kenyian economy virtually collapsed and they invited the Indians to return with a promise if their assets back. If they were forced into detention camps it was not their fault.

Oh the people that have moved abroad as young people in my family have been repaying their parents back and been working pretty hard abroad to pay for themselves. The first time I ties a dastaar I was 4 years old. It was when I did this sakhi/katha at gurdwara sahib. Then I started wearing dastaar more constantly around the age of 5. Up until I was 13 my mum used to tie it for me but now I do it myself. I used to do the final part myself but then I started doing it all myself my own style. I used to try to tie it at home when I was 8-10 years old but never really got it until I was 13. It got better after time. I took pics when I first started tying my own dastar and compared it to now, there's a difference. You'll get it eventually.

Yes, Guru Sahib penned them on top. If you look at early Birhs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, they all have them on top generally with the rule I had mentioned. They were not mixed, bottomed, and centered how they are like current saroops and senchyia printed today by printers. I don't care about the SGPC, but please don't call scholars like Bhai Randhir Singh (Scholar), Gyani Gyan Singh Ji Nihung, Nihang Naurang Singh (One who standarized Sarabloh Granth), Bhai Joginder Singh Vedanti, and Bhai Joginder Singh Talwara as lacking knowledge on Sikhi. They have spent more time studying Puratan Saroops than all of us.
