  1. 1. What's the law/regulations regarding bringing full-size kirpans from India to the UK (England) in checked luggage? 2. I know that most people think that checked luggage is fine for big kirpans, but don't some countries or airlines have regulations about "swords" and "weapons" in luggage these days? If there are such regs, are they usually ignored? 3. Secondly, in the UK, is there any problem with wearing/taking along the big kirpan? Specifically, throwing it into your car and taking it to the Gurdwara? 4. What if you have to travel by bus/train to a keertan program in another city? 5. Finally, what about the reverse? Taking your fullsize kirpan to India? Any grief from Delhi vs. Amritsar airports?

  6. Really appreciate your message bhaji. Means so much that you even thought to check up on me? I've been trying to keep active going to the gym and have also starting going to the gurdwara more often which is helping me stay strong. The replies that I got on this post from yourself and others have changed my outlook greatly and gave me a huge boost in my faith for sikhi and sangat. Everytime i feel a slight bit anxious or upset i just think back to all the wonderful things you guys shared with me and i remember that sangat here is so forgiving and loving so i dont need to feel depressed. Its a work in progress but you're right, life is a bunch of ups and downs and as long as i have sangat like you guys to turn to the downs will feel much less painful❤ If you dont mind I wanted to ask a question related to Gurbani im not sure if I should ask here or in another topic but will post here for now. When I read Gurbani, Guru ji talks sometimes about manmukhs and the bad qualities they have. When i read these it makes me feel like they are talking directly to me and this makes me feel depressed too. Could it be that I am not worthy to be gurmukh or am I feeling guilt because of my past conditioning? I sometimes take hukamnana on the sikhnet app and Guru ji will give a hukamnama that is very stern, and when i see this it makes me sad because i feel like i have failed and Guru ji is not happy with me. Am i interpreting the message of the Guru in the wrong way? I spoke with a Gursikh the other day and he was talking about the shabad: main janiya vadhans hai ta main kiya sang, je jana bugh bapura ta janam na dei ang (apologies for bad spelling), and i have always felt like Guru ji is talking about me in the latter part of that shabad, but he told me that Guru ji is only talking about people who are big paapis that are murderers and stuff but pretend not to be. So my question is am i interpreting Gurbani in the wrong way? Thank You for any replies!

  7. I will never put women on pedestal ‘cos I know what they are all about. They are a cunning and conniving lot. When they see me in the langar hall they deliberately give me less food to make me feel insecure. I mean, why single me out? I have never done anything wrong to them! I am kind, helpful and very good looking! Why be so mean to me? They fail to realise that I might easily be married to one of their daughters! I know it’s a crazy thing to say. I know what can get up to. I will never go near a pregnant s*d in case she blames it on me! Having said this, men can also be silly s*ds! They use women because they are easily manipulated, this is how they get exploited and then everyone feels sorry for them. I think they just don’t know how to look after themselves!

  8. Homosexuality has always existed but it was hidden away and not seen on the surface like we do it nowadays. Normal people were not affected but now it’s everywhere and even children are taught about it at schools. Parents that don’t agree with this are not very happy about the exposure their children receive these days.

  9. Well, you know, we men are as bad as them. Men don’t only say things to justify it but also work towards it to normalise it by depicting it in movies, dramas, books and publicising it in highly sensational manner when some famous people commit such kinds of acts behind their spouses or partners! It’s is incredibly disgusting.

  14. obviously those being examples didn't watch or have anything positive to contribute ...honestly behaviour like this is so unsikh ...you speak filth about innocent bibian in effort to insult, how about sticking to leaving them out of the picture ? how about growing up? Things like this drag our forum and our people into disrepute ... when we were kids we were taught if you haven't got anything good to say don't say anything ...pretty sound advice

  18. I dont believe in this maharaja nonsence. Some people actually look up to these so called kings and queens. I think it is wrong to say. ' he was the last maharaja of the sikhs' He was certainly not my maharaja. Infact If I would have met him He would get one big thapar against his silly face. The british did a good job boosting certain communities ego.

  19. I agree. Duleep Singh was deadweight. And his "change of heart" towards the end of his life was fake and misleading. His life was in ruins and he was desperate for money and status. Does anyone really believe he got into Sikhi and had a spiritual reawakening? If you do, I have a bridge to sell you.

  20. OH YEAH and if you manage shaster in UK train (sword type) it better to keep it well hidden from view. Again, it buy a ticket and go. You can carry it in cars not hidden. No problem. Trains have zero stop n search and absolutely no metal detect barriers.

  21. It was 2014 when I carried a shaster in luggage both ways back n forth - UK India then India UK but times do change. Best to contact airport official n ask them, especially size of Shaster. Normal Kirpan are allowed (though some opt for necklace type, no more than 0.3" in size) but still carry normal ones in the luggage suitcase (not hand held luggage, that'll be seized n thrown in the bin). IF yer talking about Shastar as in the size of sword then yeah, best to contact officials directly. (Unless someone been in 2017 can shed some light)?

  22. Right, and so I assume this means that you are saying that it won't be seized by customs in the UK. But the gov't website says: 4. Banned and restricted goods There are some goods that you can’t bring into the UK - they’ll be seized by customs. These include: illegal drugs offensive weapons, eg flick knives https://www.gov.uk/duty-free-goods/banned-and-restricted-goods So I'm worried that if they take their regulations seriously, customs can seize a big kirpan, because it's certainly an "offensive weapon", no? Or do we skate by on the religious exception?

  23. Big Kirpan's can ONLY be carried in suitcases that you do not have access to during whole flight duration (I believe it beneath the storage area). You can, by all means, carry kirpan from one town to other in England trains. No search takes place at train stations. Just buy a ticket n go.

  26. my daughter hates the type of spoonfed drivel that passes for primary education ...and I have had to go through this with her three older brothers , there is an immense dumbing down and indoctrination program going on e.g. my boys had an exam question to write a campaign to persuade people to take a particular vaccine , so many parents are saying their kids have fallen out of love with learning , reading and school subjects especially maths. by the time they've done with high school they don't have any focus unless the parents have been helicopter like .... I cannot see the government improving the situation , only foisting corporate partnerships onto school boards. I can afford to take my lot to foreign place, exhibitions, galleries, historic homes/locales most cannot, I feel that people really are getting a raw deal educationwise as the poorest are being siphoned into massive debt after their folks have struggled help their education through supplementing by books tutors etc.

  28. Guruji gives his darshan in order to communicate an important message. In all the darshan cases, there has been some sort of test to pass as well. I was recently reading a book In search of the True Guru by Bhai Rama Singh Ji and he was given darshan after passing a test. He was commanded to take amrit and become a Sikh. My Nana ji's father in India was very religious and used to visit the river everyday and do isnaan and path. Every night he related the sakhis of Guruji's to all children and adults alike. One day he had the darshan of Guru Ji. Guru Ji however told him not to tell anyone. Guru Ji was going to give him a darshan again. He was so excited that he could not control himself. He told everyone and He never had darshan again. Bhagat dhana Ji was given darshan after refusing to eat food which he offered to his saligram. This was the stone which he was given by the pandit when he kept asking him about God. The pandit however did not get darshan. Bhagat Dhana had to plead with God to give him darshan as well.

  29. Who are we to say who they give darshan to? That is to whoever is destined to receive or whoever they wish to with the grace of God. सतकि भागु ॥ Agam agocẖar ḏaras ṯerā so pā▫e jis masṯak bẖāg. The Blessed Vision of Your Darshan is unapproachable and incomprehensible; he alone obtains it, who has such good destiny recorded upon his forehead. Koi vadhbhagee nu milde aise darshan. Gur samrath apār gur vadbẖāgī ḏarsan ho▫e. The Guru is All-powerful, the Guru is Infinite. By great good fortune, the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is obtained. Sanṯ pi▫āre sacẖai ḏẖāre vadbẖāgī ḏarsan pāvṇi▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o. The Beloved Saints were established by the True Lord. By great good fortune, the Blessed Vision of their Darshan is obtained. ||1||Pause|| ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੇ ਕੈ ਹਥਿ ਦਾਨੁ ॥ देवणहारे कै हथि दानु ॥ Ḏevaṇhāre kai hath ḏān. The Gift is in the Hands of the Great Giver. Don't worry about parthak darshan, just praise God. One receives darshan of all the Gurus through Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji through Gurus shabad with Gods grace.

  30. there's a method for people to live off air, but thier body has to be very pure for it to work. it's not riddhi siddhi as it's not an occult power, but it's completely natural. the energy channels in the body become so purified that energy from the air is enough. i think bhagat dhru ji or bhagat prahlad ji lived using this method. this method is for hardcore tapasvis, saves money too! over time in sikhi (or any dharm) as our body is purified our need for food lessons bc we can extract greater amounts of energy from food. this is why many mahapurkhs only need to eat once a day. i imagine many of them can also completely go without food if they wish, but simply choose not to as they don't want to attract attention or perhaps they wish to give seva to others. this reminds me of a sakhi of sant harnam singh ji rampur khera in which he meditated for a long period of time without food or water to test a shabad.

  31. I think the real question the starter of this thread is asking is, do Sikhs believe that everything such as stones, rocks and trees have souls. This is a difficult question to answer and I am prolly not correct, so here is my opinion: I think in the Japji Sahib it says that God, his creation and his actions are unrecordable. They cannot be described nor explained. It also says that only fools try to explain such things. Also the state of the person who is in God's love cannot be explained. All this said, it turns out that we cannot understand how this world around us works. We can only percieve it from our senses and try to make conclusions. Thus, we cannot prove or try to disprove some of the things that are described in the Guru Granth Sahib. If you follow the Guru's words you will realize that even though much of God's power is undescribable, if you put your trust in him, you will begin to UNDERSTAND his power and his Greatness. So in order to begin to understand what the Guru Granth Sahib tries to teach us, we must first admit to ourselves that we are idiots. We should put MORE trust in the Guru Granth Sahib's teachings then anything else. In my opinion, I dont think this section is trying to teach us about how the spirit world works. It is merely using it as an example to describe something else. So in conclusion: If the Guru Granth Sahib says: rocks have souls. It MUST be. Do we care that rocks have souls? Probably not. But we do care that our human life is unique and is VERY RARE. So we should take advantage of what makes this life soo rare, the ability to merge with God.
