WJKK WJKF! How long will this forum remain online for in a readable & accessible state? It appears susceptible to shut-down. It would be a shame if all the forum's content from over the decades is lost in such an event due to servers hosting this forum shutting-down. This forum, whilst not currently active, remains an important repository of the Sikh religion online. It also is a fundamental aspect of Sikh cyber culture that existed from the early Internet period from the 2000's to 2010's before the domination by big social-media sites that consolidated the community. Thus, have the web-masters of this forum considered archiving this forum's contents before it is lost forever? I can assist you in this by saving the content to the Internet Archive on your behalf. Please let me know your thoughts about such an endeavour and I hope you may consider the possibility of archiving the forum for posterity. Anandpur Sahib does and always has followed the Sikh Rehat Maryada, same as Darbar Sahib in Amritsar. They allow you to eat any eggs, fish or meat as long it is not Halal meat/killed Ritualistically. They say Kes is the Kakkar, not Keski. I believe only AKJ says that and nobody else. You can read the full Sikh Rehat Maryada, page 56-7 I believe is what the Panj Pyaare are meant to say on the day. My cousin took Amrit at Anandpur Sahib and the other in Darbar Sahib 8 years later. I showed them both this page and they said that is exactly what the Panj said to them word for word at their Sanchaar

In 2019, a series of events occurred that led to a paradigm shift in the future conservation of Sikh heritage. At Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib in Tarn Taran, founded by Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, there is a historic Darshani Deori gateway that was constructed during Sikh-rule by Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s grandson, Kunwar Nau Nihal Singh, who felt a deep connection to the sacred gurdwara. However, as with all buildings, overtime lack of surveillance and maintenance led to cracks developing in the structure. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee passed a resolution allowing the Kar Seva baba Jagtar Singh to “restore”, “renovate”, or “reconstruct” the Darshanj Deori. On 14 September 2018, a Jagtar Singh’s group attempted to topple the structure but local Sikh activists stopped them, saving it. By October of the same year, the resolution was withdrawn and the decision was put on-hold. However, that didn’t stop the zealous baba in his mission to destroy the historical building. The following year on the night of Saturday, 30 March 2019 at 9:00 P.M., a 300-man strong “army” of Kar Seva workers under Jagtar Singh armed with sharp-edged weapons, baseball bats, hammers, and sticks started toppling the structure, allegedly without the SGPC’s permission. For two hours, they continued their destructive rampage on the edifice ignoring desperate calls to stop their demolition from local Sikhs. The SGPC ignored calls trying to draw their attention to the issue. Finally at around 11:00 P.M., a police team led by deputy-superintendent Kawaljit Singh arrived and intervened, putting a stop to the Kar Seva destruction. Sadly, four domed-structured and other features located at the top of the building had been destroyed but the rest of the building was saved, for now. Local Sikhs demanded that a criminal case be put against the Kar Seva baba Jagtar Singh and warned that they would protest if this was not done. The manager of the gurdwara complex, Partap Singh, claimed to have called Jagtar Singh and told him to cease the vandalism but he did not lodge a police complaint. Sikhs were rightfully outraged at the wanton razing of their historical heritage by corrupt and ignoramus parties. The SGPC, seeing the anger of the Sikh Quom, decided instead to renovate and conserve the historical deori rather than demolishing it and rebuilding a new one. Before initiating the renovation work, a meeting was held in this regard and experts of Directorate of Cultural Affairs Archaeology and Archives Museum Punjab, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, local intellectuals and members of Sikh organisations assembled for discussion. The SGPC formed a three-member panel to investigate the issue. Partap Singh, manager of the gurdwara, was suspended for failing to prevent the dismantlement of the deori. All further gurdwara repair-related responsible were withdrawn from the Jagtar Singh-led Kar Seva group. An alliance of 30 Sikh organizations demanded an independent probe into the role of the SGPC and criminal action against the Kar Seva group. Surely, someone must be profiting from this affair, whether that means pocketing funds gathered under the guise of well-meaning Kar Seva from the Sikh community or other nefarious activities. The darshani deori would eventually be restored over the years following the incident by an archeological agency under the guidance of experts, without tampering with the original structure. This remains a critical moment in Sikh history: for the first time ever, the Sikh community stood-up and said NO, enough is enough. Too much has been lost, we will not allow more to be taken from us. The Kar Seva babas have destroyed 90-95% of Sikh heritage in Punjab within the past decades, the SGPC allows them to do so. Only we as Sikhs have the power to stop them. We have to raise our voice and allow ourselves to be heard! Staying silent and docile means more of our history will be stolen from us by these dushman, who prefer to pocket funds while converting Sikh history into mythology by wiping out all evidences of our past from this Earth. Shame if our past these modern days jatts sgpc lost are . One question I have is...where were the Nihangs and the anti jar Seva when anandgarh was town down and kshgarh remade to what it is now....mughals couldn't even destroy the qila. Reason behind it is. You can't get mass sangat in to fill the golak up.... that's why they are all the same in design etc .probs some mafia rAcket related to the mass marbeling of gurughars. Such a shame. Hardly any pictures of the original anandgar qila..only one in the toor collection

A " tenth dan" organized a martial arts event and invited Nidar Singh Nihang to demonstrate ad teach others....if a tenth dan can recgnise our vidiya why can't you Sikhs? It's probably meant to be Harminder Sahib but was made by someone who never visited. It's clearly by a non-Sikh hence why they called it "Golden Temple" and back then there weren't many photos, so someone likely described Sachkhand and did their art like this. Also, I doubt they would have allowed someone to set up a canvas inside and start painting within Darbar Sahib so it's likely the person is painting from memory even if they did see it firsthand - was probably still cramped inside with everyone rushing around even back then. Or could be Delhi Gurdwara. Looks similar enough, likely a historian mixed up the two. Hope this helps ji!

Took it from Coventry, Guru Hargobind gurdwara run by Tarna Dal. At Anandpur Sahib you can take pahul with purataan maryada from Nihangs at gurdwara shadeedi bagh, otherwise at takht Keshgarh sahib it will just be sgpc maryada unfortunately! East London is another place to find amrit sanchars with puraatan maryada. There is even a Nihang gurdwara in Amritsar which does jhatka, as well as some Nihang chaunis. You will find other places in Panjab as well. Takht Hajoor Sahib, although not administered by Nihang Singhs directly and the mukhis/mahants are shastardhari, they follow a puraatan maryada and it is endorsed by dal panth anyway!

most Singhs will say follow your panj. However there is a loophole which was done once by Master Tara Singh and 4 other Singhs on another Singh who took pahul from AKJ early last century, I need to find it. The only issue is AKJ are also going to give you naam dhrir which teaches to do Waheguru simran in a way which is annoying to myself and other traditional sikhs, and makes for very controversial keertan videos on youtube tiktok! Why not practice rehit first and then take pahul from panj you are comfortable with? There is no point in taking pahul from a panj if you are already aware of them? That is why I waited as well as I do not follow sgpc!

Probably AKJ amrit sanchar. AKJ also have an extra ritual called naam dhrir, where Waheguru Naam is instilled by sewadaars into the ears of newly initiated, some even do a belly hug technique when doing this lol! Not a panthik ritual by any length, but if you see that it's a chance to run away and reject it lol! It is possible for akj to tell their rehit. I used to live near Coventry and over there the Singh Sabha gurdwara is not the main gurdwara unlike most town. Coventry Singh Sabha is mostly akj events including amrit sanchars! Anyway calling out akj can get the ire of the mods on this forum, as this forum seems to mostly be run by akj and they preferred views only inline with akj be discussed on this forum, even though it is called sikhsangat, just another warning lol!

I think some people start following Nihang rehat after taking pahul from SGPC gurdwara (such as most Singh Sabha gurdwaras) . SGPC rehat will never force you to be vegetarian, most groups consider sgpc rehat as Akal Takht maryada. You should check before entering amrit sanchar which rehat it is. If it is taksali or AKJ they normally have their brtands on the poster!

A decade ago it could get accounts banned, but nowadays the current mods are a bit more lenient but probably not a good idea to push it lol but regardless, if it is bani, post it and let's see. I'm desperate to shak Amrit asap and I called all 8 local Gurdware to ask for Amrit and they all said "no, wait till Vaisakhi" - I said "why" and these hunkaari old committee members said "cos it's not cost efficient to do this for one person". I even offered to pay for the Divaan Hall, provide my own 5 Pyaare (with the Granthi and Guard for the door) along with my own Kakkars, batta, Khanda Sahib, and even the water/sugar. And they still said no. Absolute kutteh. I ask you, when Banda Singh Bahadur trained enough and felt ready, he asked Maharaj for Amrit and they gave it IMMEDIATELY. If I want to join the Khalsa, who are these senile old pardhaana to deny me this blessing from Maharaj? It's not just "Ramgarhia Gurdware" as I found out literally today. I tried Singh Sabha, Ramgarhia and even a Sant/Baba wala Gurdware, oh saare same aa. All UK Gurdwaras disrespect Maryada - they don't even care if it's about the thing that began the Khalsa altogether - Amrit.

Bro, you should decide whether you want to wear bana or an aichken. An Achkan is a tailored jacket that goes to or just past the knees. It's considered formalwear for men in India. Bana is the uniform of the Khalsa dal (army). It's a plain navy blue chola (tunic). Because it's a uniform, there's no embroidery. The entire point is that you're a soldier ready to tangle as necessary. There's nothing at all wrong with wearing an achkan. If you want to wear something dressy, wear an embroidered achkan. Mixing and matching is like adding sugar to a dal/sabzi. It's like you want the cachet of a bana ("I'm a hardcore Khalsa warrior") and also want to show off.

Firstly, you have a problem with the language being used? What to do call a teacher? Ustaad (in Arabic/Islamic traditions), Aachaarya (in Bhaaratya/Hindu traditions) or Gurdev (in Panjabi/Sikh traditions). Maybe you'd like to police the language we use? As I've said for a while, if you've got kids or nephews and nieces of a certain age, foisting them onto others in a religious camp for a few days isn't going to turn them into little gianis. Keep them away from those places because you'll get religious predators making it their first port of call. There's probably a reason they're called a CAMP. If you're British you'll know. The main reason the Europeans were able to take over the world was because they were inquisitive and invested time and money into science. Well this is interesting, a close source to the Baba tells me he has just started a 1 year course for Sangat who want to meet god. The rules are you have to stay at the Gurdwara and do all the practical meditation he tells you and he will show you god when you are worthy. So I’m guessing Guru Nanak Dev ji got it wrong when telling Sangat you must do your bhagti whilst living a grist Jeevan. Another way to brainwash you and get you sucked into this cult.

Sant jee & his jatha was once staying in narangwal (sant kartar singh jee used to stay in the same place with jatha members). One bibi ji of that house made a sweater for sant ji but was too shy to give it to sant jee. It was cold weather and during evening time, sant jee said bring me a sweater of this type and everybody in the house started looking for it and bit confused as he only want that type of sweater. When bibi jee heard this, she gave the sweater to her brothers to give it to sant ji. This is one example of how saints are aware of everything around them !

My knowledge also come from Giani Thakur Singh Ji's katha as well: Sant Ji started off with 5 Japji Sahibs daily when he was a kid with hukam of his father and maintained a nitnem of around 100 japji sahibs later on. He also did chalisa 2-3 times where he would do bhajan bandgi 22 hours everyday for 40 days, sometimes making a bed of thorns and stones to lie down for 2 hours, He ended up leaving his body on the 40th day , but was sent back from sachkhand, and had darshan of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He would leave his body at night and stay in sachkhand till morning. He would wash kachere /clothers/utensils/shoes of other Singhs at night when no one was looking. This is all what I heard in katha. There is much more we prolli don't know about.

Every single person with the surname Bedi I have ever met in my entire life claims to be the descendant of Guru Nanak Dev ji. Logic says only a few of them can be right.
