  2. Is someone going to put recordings online somewhere? Please give link if available, thanks.
  3. Someone out there knows where Dhami is. Don't let him leave the country. Turn him in. Think of the 2 young kids who are fatherless now and might grow up hating the gurdwara because thats where their dad was killed. Be a man.
  4. Anyone use Shabad Guru Search Software? It came out in 2004. Has anyone used it with Microsoft Office 2007? I wanted to know if it works properly in the new access the way it does in the old office 2003. Is there any other similar program that you can use without being connected to the internet?
  5. thanks for recommendations everyone! I ended up getting dell 1525 cuz it was a better deal than the 1420. Macbooks are popular too, but I've never used macs before so I'm not even gonna try!
  6. thanks for the info! Can I use the 2003 version of microsoft office with windows vista? I really hate the 2007 version of it, its so time consuming to find things in it.
  7. I'm going to buy a new laptop soon and need some advice on whats new out there as far as specs. Last time I bought one was probably 3 years ago and a lot has changed since then! Bascially I'm going to use it for school/work assignments, store/listen kirtan, and need wireless internet capability (which I think is standard now anyway), and dvd burner. The one that I have right now is a Dell inspiron. Since then "dual core" and "ddr2" stuff has come out, and windows vista (which I hate but can get used to I guess). my budget is approx $1200. It would be nice if it was lightweight, but I know the more storage you want the heavier it gets.
  8. Do you have any info on Sant Pritam Singh "Maankherri" wale? He was affiliated with a gurdwara in the Chandigarh area, and his jeep would always smell fresh or like laichee

    Weight Loss

Have you looked at a Body Mass Index? According to your height and weight you have stated, you are NOT overweight. You are still of normal weight. If you increase your weight over 180lbs, then yes-you'll be entering the "overweight" range. So if I were you, I wouldn't freak out too much about my weight. Just keep it in check and don't pass 180lbs. No rush to lose weight so quickly, thats unhealthy. Do it slowly over time. Thats what a dietitian would tell you.
  11. haha! white hair like that at young age is NORMAL. so don't worry. I had one too at the hairline, and then I couldn't find it later on. so cherish the good times :D
  12. Dhami gets BUSTED Its not just him, there's so many other truckers who are flashing their beards as a disguise to look religious, but really they are part of a drug pyramid scheme. Anyone who gets rich TOO quick, and gives TONS of gold in a kid's wedding, and they happen to be a trucker....I don't trust them
  13. http://www.panthic.org/news/124/ARTICLE/3997/2008-04-03.html nice job, keep it up! lucky englandiye can wear kirpans in their parliament apparently, can't do that in usa!
  14. There are other cheese brands that say specifically on them that they do not contain rennet.
  15. Let's see who is following the election process in USA. If you are voting for Democrat candidate, who would you pick and why: Barack Obama, Hilary Clinton, or John Edwards? If you are voting for Republican candidate, who would you pick and why: Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, or John McCain? And how many of you are over 18 and voting in the primaries and in November? I just got registered! :s
  16. This was the weirdest email I ever got. Its about some event thing somewhere, see the link for yourselves... http://www.gurumaa.com/
  17. Its all good to respect other's traditions and all. But we got plenty of our own holidays and gurpurabs that we honestly aren't celebrating and need to start there first.
  18. He was the driver of a cab. Obviously the passenger was in back seat. Its easy to attack someone sitting in front of you, but as the driver its not exactly the easiest thing in the world to attack back at the person behind you, and on a freeway! By the time you pull over to safe spot on the side, damage has been done. This could have easily involved other motorists and injured others. Just think about it, put yourself in his shoes and think of all the factors involved. Its easy to say he should have attacked back but its not always easily done. There could be something missing in the picture though, because usually the police would have taken care of the drunk guy situation.
  19. Link to this pic is on The Seattle Times online. Carrying candles against hatred Jaskirat Parmar, 8, center, joins other Sikhs on the steps of Gurdwara Singh Sabha, a Sikh house of worship in Renton, on Wednesday night to protest violence directed at them and show solidarity for Sikh cab driver Sukhvir Singh. He was hospitalized after police say he was beaten by a drunken passenger last weekend. Luis Vázquez, of Kent, was charged Tuesday with third-degree assault and malicious harassment, the state's hate-crime law. http://www.sikhcoalition.org/ Has updates and more info, and links to other media sources that reported on this.
  20. Sounds like a job for R4G, where they at? on a side note, a wedding happened at another gurughar here, and the langar was actually gonna be in a party hall for lunch, so actually its not langar then cuz they were gonna have meat and sharab there. The dumbest part of all was that the secretary with big open beard was giving directions to the party hall! And just moments earlier, the granthi was saying how you're not allowed to wear socks in the gurdwara sahib. So lets not wear socks, but lets get drunk.
  21. significance of sikhi with a hospital? Wasn't the location of Gurdwara Taran Taran Sabib where Guru ji took care of lepers himself because no one else wanted to go near them? That area is where lepers lived and had their little huts or whatever to live in and is now the sarovar at this gurdwara sahib.
  22. http://www.sikhcoalition.org/advisories/Su...teHateCrime.htm Sikh Suffers Brutal Hate Attack in Seattle Coalition Calls on Police and Prosecutors to Take Action (Seattle, WA) November 26, 2007 - A Sikh cab driver was brutally assaulted by a passenger on Saturday, the night of Gurpurab. Sukhvir Singh's attacker threatened to kill him, calling him a "terrorist" as he punched and bit him, pulling locks of hair from his head. The Sikh Coalition calls on the King's County Prosecuting Attorney's Office to prosecute the incident as a hate crime. What Happened On November 24, 2007, Sukhvir Singh had stopped his cab at a deli to eat when two Seattle police officers approached him and asked him to drive home a man who was in their custody. It was the night of a University of Washington football game in Seattle, and the man was intoxicated. Mr. Singh agreed to help the police officers by taking the individual back to his residence, but he never made it there. On the way to his home, the passenger began to verbally abuse Sukhvir Singh, using religious and racial slurs and threatening to kill him. As his anger escalated, he attacked Sukhvir Singh from the back seat, putting him in a chokehold and knocking off Mr. Singh's turban. He pulled his long hair so hard that it came out in clumps. Trapped in the I-5's carpool lane, Sukhvir Singh had no choice but to stop the car and get out to escape his attacker. His attacker tumbled out onto the highway with him and continued beating him until Washington State Troopers responded to the scene. Sukhvir Singh was hospitalized overnight, and has been vomiting ever since he returned home yesterday.Sukhvir Singh, a Kent resident, is shaken. "I am in a lot of pain, and don't understand why someone would do this to me. I love America and hope that in my case, justice will be done," he said. Seattle's Police Department has not yet begun a full investigation of the incident. The Sikh Coalition is particularly concerned that a police report on the incident does not include any information on the bias motivation for the crime. "Seattle's public officials need to take a strong stance against bias. We expect that this incident will be investigated and prosecuted as a hate crime," said Jasmit Singh, a member of the board of the Gurdwara Singh Sabha of Washington, and a Sikh Coalition board member. This is not the first hate attack against a Sikh in Seattle. In October 2001, a Sikh motel owner from Renton was beaten over the head and told to "Go to Allah." In 2003, another Seattle taxi driver was surrounded by a group of men calling him "Osama" and telling him to "Get out of this country." Though his cab suffered thousands of dollars worth of damage, the incident was not prosecuted as a hate crime. The Sikh Coalition asks all Sikhs to support its call for a hate crime charge in Sukhvir Singh's case. Seattle's Sikh community will be organizing a rally for Sukhvir Singh later this week. We urge all Sikhs to practice their faith fearlessly. If you or someone you know is a victim of discrimination, please report it to legal@sikhcoalition.org.
  23. Those of you who use itunes would know about this. When you use itunes on the computer, there is a way to make a track fade into the next one (crossfade playback). But when you've transferred your playlists to an ipod, then the tracks don't do the fading thing anymore. Is there a way to make the tracks fade in the ipod, or is that not possible?
  24. Question: Do you agree with the decision to name Surrey Memorial Hospital's new ER entrance after the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak? Click on link and Vote!
