  1. The lowering of the floor is a great idea. Not seen that before at a Gurdwara. Mandela i think you need to relax. No one is suggesting that benches should be installed at the Gurdwara but we need to consider how we can accommodate people who are not able to sit on the floor but want to pay their respects. The alternative of lowering the floor is a good idea and maybe you should go and suggest it as a possible solution.
  2. These were probably for people who struggle to sit on the floor due to some disability such as old people, disabled people etc. don't blow it out of proportion.
  3. She has not supported Sikhs at all. Why not give our support to our own person who will help us. We need more Sikh to take up national politics otherwise we will no voice in this country and will suffer in the long run.
  4. The points are highlighting her favourable stance towards the muslim community and neglecting the others in this constituency. A politician should not support one group but support all in their constituency. In an area like handsworth wood the majority of people that live there are Sikhs or people of Indian origin so why do we need a mosque there? There are already plenty if mosques, gurdwaras, churches in the area so there is no need for another place of worship in the area.
  5. Urgent appeal to the indian & sikh community, in handsworth wood. Please vote for the conservative candidate rabinder singh gill, no 2 on the ballot box. The labour candidate has been working against our community.. 1. She is against the multi faith sikh school. 2. She was against the viaiskhi celebration and nagar kirtan on easter sunday. 3. She voted against funding for the sahibzade scouts group. 4. She voted against funding for gurdwara singh sabha football club. 5. She is against the development of guru ravidass cente at the old boys sch. Lastly she is supporting a Mosque in Hawthorn House in Handsworth Wood Pls urge all family and friends in Handsworth and Handsworth Wood to vote for No 2 Rabinder Gill, otherwise our community will suffer. Urgent appeal to the indian & sikh community, in handsworth wood. Please vote for the conservative candidate rabinder singh gill, no 2 on the ballot box. She is against the development of guru ravidass cente at the old boys sch. Lastly she is supporting a Mosque in Hawthorn House in Handsworth Wood which will be 2.5 acres!!! (as big as Soho Rd Gurdwara!) there is a stage 2 bid already with the council and will get through if she comes back in. This is not a labour conservative situation any more. Pls urge all family / friends & neighbours in Handsworth and Handsworth Wood to vote
  6. My link Terror alert: Babbar Khalsa threat to Badal and son, say police According to an alert received by the Punjab Police, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal are on the hit list of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). Highly placed sources said the Joint Director (VIP Security), Intelligence Bureau, last month issued the alert to the state police saying the agency had credible information that two Sikh militants owing allegiance to the BKI had been sent by the terror outfit to Punjab to target the Badals. Another alert has said some religious places too are on the target list of other outfits which are fighting for the cause of Khalistan. The timing of the “mission”, according to the intelligence report, has been chosen with care in view of the fact that the state will be going to polls in 2012 and the father-son duo will be campaigning extensively, making them vulnerable to attack. “After the alert, the police once again reviewed the security cover for the Chief Minister and his deputy who also holds the Home portfolio. We have been getting these kinds of alerts from Central intelligence agencies about the Badals. Both of them have already been provided Z Plus security cover,’’ said a Punjab Police officer. A senior state police officer said “there was a meeting in Germany some time back and also in December 2007 between a few Punjab and Kashmir militants in which it was discussed to target important personalities in Punjab. These intelligence inputs and information gathered following interrogation of an accused in the 2007 Shingar cinema blast in Ludhiana gave credible information about the terror plan”. Sukhbir Badal, whose CISF cover was to end December 31, 2010, was given an extension for the same by the Union Home Ministry. The CM already has the NSG cover besides the state police security. The first batch of the Special Security Group comprising 45 state police personnel, which is to be formed to protect the Punjab Governor, the CM and the Deputy CM, has completed its training and awaits deployment. ** Mod Note: Please kindly refrain from posting any replies which advocate violence. Such replies will be removed promptly and warnings may be issued for them as well. Thank you for your cooperation. Dhanwaad ***
  7. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed, we would never accept anything like that happening in the UK. I was also surprised at the reaction or non reaction of the Singh who had his dastaar taken off. He should have retaliated and put up more of a fight against the policeman considering his size. Also its hard to judge on such a short clip, which does not capture the start. The person who took the video or witnesses need to come forward and speak the truth to what happened. Singhs have to wake up and start standing up for their rights, especially in India, they seem to have been brainwashed over the decades into being muppets and have lost their fighting instincts.
  8. Did anyone watch the discussion on Sangat TV at 9pm yesterday, just want to congratulate Sangat TV for dicussing such an important topic live on air and bringing awareness to the sangat about the dangers that our kids are facing when they go out. So many people would not have known about these problems and educating the sangat is critical and using this media format is ideal. It makes a good change from the Gurdwara Politics that are regularly dicsussed on the other channel and it directly addresses and relates to the youth. Well done to Sangat TV, keep it up. Well done to SAS aswell, keep up the good work you are doing. http://www.sasorg.co.uk/
  9. This is an excellent walk that should not be taken lightly. Any participants must make sure you are fit and can walk upto 24 miles and make sure you have the appropriate attire e.g. Good walking shoes, waterproofs, walking sticks etc. But well worth it and it's for a good cause. Good luck. Recommend it for everyone.
  10. I think the first panel member on the right is mr jarnail singh bhogal ex president of rst. They appeared to be very arrogant on the programme.
  11. They are completely lost but yet they are willing to hold graduation cerominies for these extremists. Lol.
  12. How many of the panel members are amritari siks? What role models are they to the youth and sangat that go there. All good saying they do punjabi classes etc but have not learned anything themselves. Mr Panesar has a cut beard that is in a muslim style. Great role models for the panth.
  13. That is fantastic. Was not expecting anywhere to charge nothing. Excellent.
  14. In the time of austerity I would like to know how much your Gurdwara charges for an Akhand Path Sahib? Would like to know what the charges are across the country?
  15. I think a similar protest in Punjab would be ideal to try and get reform and change in the region. It would also mobilse the Sikhs and get them united and in return they would get better autonomy in Punjab. This will result better jobs and education and will in return benefit the Sikh community. Its the only proven way to get change and what has happened in Egypt and Tunisia are examples of what people can do when they are united.
  16. Its sad, but this is what happens specially in india. Its the mentality of our people there, little less here. Its always push push push when you are standing inline and when doing matha tek aswell. People climbing and pushing all over you, chucking money etc. For people from abroad they have travelled thousands of miles to get here then all of a sudden you rushed to do the last 2 mins of your journey.
  17. You can book with the airlines from the uk. It's probably better to book now as the earlier you book the cheaper the prices are. Aslong as you present the credit card you have booked the tickets with you will have no problems. Very easy.
  18. There are no direct flights from Amritsar, only options to fly are from Delhi and Mumbai. Delhi - Nanded on Go Air, think they fly 3 days a week to Nanded or your can go Delhi - Mumbai - Nanded on Kingfisher - also 3 days a week Mon, wed, fri i think.
  19. This is another issue that needs to be raised with the Satkaar Group and we need to support them in taking the appropriate action to get this matter resolved as they have successfully stopped this at other gurdwara. But the problem highlights how much of a problem we have in our gurdwara and shows how deep routed it is.
  20. Excellent, well done to all that have spent so much time and energy trying to get this issue resolved.
  21. This is the latest update on the RST Webiste - 311 Update - The Commitee has responded to the Satkaar Sewadars with the following email today:- Satkaar Sewadars, A Committee meeting took place yesterday on Sunday 2nd January 2011 at Ramgarhia Sikh Temple in which it was decided that no further bookings will be made for Maharaja Jassa Singh Ramgarhia Hall where the families want to provide meat and alcohol and the commitee will be feeding back this information to the members and the sangat. The commitee is willing to meet with individuals representing the satkaar sewadars to discuss these matter on the 9th January at 2.30pm or 10th January 7.00pm as long as as agreed previously the names of all attending with who they represent is provided, along with the local sangat members who have approached you. Finally, the above has been agreed as long as the Satkaar Sewadars send out notices on the internet, post them by email and on Websites such as Sikh Sangat that the demonstration is cancelled and that there will be no future demonstrations. Finally we would also like to bring to your attention that we have received the following email from an individual; i would suggest that you discourage these emails as they will only create a break down in communication for the future and please forward communication to us. Sent to Satkaat Sewadars was an email from Surjit Singh (surjit65@hotmail.co.uk) where he is swearing to picture posts and sending email to this effect to the gurdwara website).
  22. Sikhpaji you are very sly piece of work. If you dont understand the concept of forums then you should not be posting on here. If you are want everyones names then why don't you lead by example and post yours on here first. All you want to do is discredit people from the stage at Gurdwara. You are a very cunning person.
  23. Excuses, excuses, excuses. My children don't even make as many as you do Sikhpaji. Get to the topic. Yes education must start at home but the Gurdwara also has to play an important part of that education. If your family are not on the right path and the Gurdwara is not then what chance have we got? All Gurdwara need to provide a environment that reflects sikhi in the highest order. It needs to be a place of purity. Get your own house (Gurdwara) in order first before you can start preaching sikhi to the masses. How many amritari Sikhs have been blessed at RST? You talk about others but you cannot even get your own house in order first. Think what you are doing now as your actions today will create deep problems tomorrow for the sangat. Dont play the excuse game. You know it's wrong and yet you still need to justify it to yourself. You are probably a meat and & sharab drinker yourself and are probably druelling over a Xmas turkey with a glass of wine with the family. Wake up cos when when the true Khalsa come for you, you will be swept away with firm
  24. The akaal takht are the ones who have banned meat an sharab at any gurdwara owned properties. So you are saying that the Akal takht is not a recognised body and you will not follow the sandesh that they took out banning meat and sharab on Gurdwara property. If you don't listen to the supreme body of the Sikhs who else are you going to listen to. The satkaar group are just relaying the message of the Akal takht. Your knowledge and understanding of sikhi is scary. If the Gurdwara has a library I suggest you spend more time reading books and building up your knowledge or sit in the darbaar and listen to gurbani Sikhpaji your lack of understanding of sikhi is scary. Ian amazed that you need to speak to a more recognised body than the Akal takht.
