  1. Download Link - Right Click, Save Target As... Curved Swords with blades over 50cm will be banned. No exemption will be made for any religious or cultural use at all but it does mention exemptions for those requiring swords for 'sporting activities for which such a weapon is required'.
  2. It's designed and made by Jot Singh Khalsa. We would love to make a Pesh Kabz but making a metal frame sheath for it that flows with the design would be hard. Are there any Jot Singh designs that you like? Thanks, Kam
  3. You're right, i'm sorry. But where is it written that Kirpans should be Sarbloh? Why are we being ritualistic not logical? We are Sikhs. I have tried to educate people about steel but they just don't want to listen. I am sorry I tried. WJKK WJKF
  4. A Sikh with a sharp Kirpan is much more useful than a Sikh with a blunt Kirpan. Even without training a person armed with a knife is very dangerous.
  5. Should we also drive Sarbloh cars and use Sarbloh guns? Do you really think Guru Gobind Singh would want us to have outdated equipment? Steel is the best material for a Kirpan. Be logical.
  6. When people say Sarbloh they are talking about the material that is used for manufacturing karre and batte, its not steel but it has least amount of carbon content. It is probably Wrought iron. I have no problems with Sarbloh karre and batte but it is too soft for blades and swords. How much Iron is acceptable? 98%? 95%? 90%? We might be able to use Carbon Steel which has a higher Iron content than stainless.
  7. What is Sarbloh? It would be impossible to make a pure iron kirpan. Pure iron (100% Fe) would be next to impossible to make. Even in labs, you won't find 100% pure anything.
  8. The only logical reason to wear sarbloh is to make up for the iron deficiency we have because of our vegetarian diets. During Guru Gobind Singh Ji's time sarbloh was the best available material for Kirpans. If he were alive today I'm confident he'd support our decision to utilize the best material available which is a good quality stainless steel.
  9. The price is relative to the quality, there are already many inexpensive Kirpans available, we are trying to produce a high quality production Kirpan, something which is not currently available.
  10. Thanks for all the feedback so far. The prototype has a 6" blade and the overall length is about 12 inches. It would be possible to make a smaller Kirpan but it depends on the feedback we get. It would be very hard to find a high quality knife manufacturer that could produce a Kirpan with an Iron blade. Iron is just not used any more as a modern blade material, Steel has many advantages over Iron as a blade material, it does not stain, corrode or rust as easily as Iron. Steel will also take a much better edge than Iron and it will hold it much longer. Steel is basically a refined version of Iron. Alloys such as Carbon, Chromium, Vanadium and Molybdenum are added to increase the toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. The presence of the carbon makes the steel stronger and harder than pure iron. Thanks, Kam
  11. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Earlier this year I stayed in America for 3 months and apprenticed with Jot Singh Khalsa. Khalsa Kirpans I would like to tell you about a project we are working on. While I was in America we produced a prototype Kirpan. We are planning on manfacturing the Kirpan overseas. It will have a high quality stainless steel blade and include a nice gatra, other materials are still to be determind. The price we are aiming for is $250 which is about £125. First run will be about 1000 Kirpans. Here are some pictures of the prototype: We need to know if there will be enough interest for us to produce the Kirpan. Thanks, Kam
