  1. Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsaa! Vaheguroo Jee Ki Fatheh!

Ok, my antivirus renewal is coming up, so I just wanted to get all your opinions. I've been using Panda Titanium 2006 Antivirus for the past 2-3 years without any problems. However, I think it is a bit slow and does hog the system when in use.

Reading reviews on the net (which all vary), BitDefender 10 is supposed to excellent. Anyone have any experience with it? I also have F-Secure installed on the laptop, which has been solid and also doesn't seem to use a lot of system resources. I haven’t had much success with Norton in the past, so that’s out of the window.

    Any thoughts?

    _A worried guy!_ Ji,

No need to worry! Just take whatever you have, dress comfortably and modestly. Like VeerJi has said, if you want to wear Bana, then just approach a Sevadaar and they will happily help you out.

I hope KhalsaCamp goers reading this thread are not being put off already with all this clothes business!! Just go, take Lahaa and enjoy the experience!!!

Take a little more than you plan on taking! You'd rather have extra clothing (even if you don't wear them all!) than not having enough, which in the end may leave you feeling uncomfortable during the camp. Plus anything can happen, i.e. spillages/stains from Langar (now that’s only if you can’t eat! tongue.gif ) or your clothes just getting dirty for some other unaccounted reason.

You have to remember as well that the days will be long, from AmritVela (3am-4am) till night time (9pm-10pm), so you may want to have fresh clothes for the evening Divaan.

I hope everyone has a totally Chardhikalaa time at KhalsaCamp!

Ok, what you have to understand is that most built in microphones in mp3 players are not very good (limited frequency range, signal to noise ratio etc.), which is the reason for the crackly recordings. You could try reducing the mic volume which may help in reducing/removing the crackly noise.

Ideally you want an mp3 player with 'mic in' so you can record from external sources. However, Mp3 players with such recording capabilities are rare these days. There were some old models with these features, but they have pretty much been discontinued.

So if you don't want the hassle, then any mp3 with a built in microphone will be fine. If you can post your preferences E.g. price, storage space, battery etc then I'm sure Sangat here can find you a suitable one. I'd personally go for something manufactured by iriver, Cowon, Sony or Creative as they are the main market leaders in personal audio.

I personally see nothing wrong with it at all. If the videos are purely for educational purposes, and in this case about the atrocities of 84, then I see no reason for not showing it to the Sangat. You can think of it as Katha in the form of images/clips and explanations about what happened. Katha in the traditional sense would only involve Vichaar about 84. With the video, it’s the same but just a different way of presenting to the Sangat.

If there is a greater concern about the issue, then Sukhasan Seva should be done before showing the video.

The topic will be how Prataan Gursikhs did Sevaa at the times of the Guru Sahibaans, with particular reference to Bhai Manjh Ji. Please forward this message to any friends and relatives who live in the Yorkshire area.

Can i just say...the Guru ji is a supreme being and that Sikhi is perfect, it has no flaws, its the PEOPLE who have flaws.

If they need to find the information they want then Gurbani is there to help them, READ IT!

The history, yes people are going tarnish the truth as usual, in this case I say just let them be.

Gurmat is perfect and complete and I openly challenge anyone to find a single "flaw" with it. There could be misunderstanding or there could be something not practiced correctly but in terms of principles, Sikhi is flawless.

100% agree with you guys there. ALL flaws are totally within us. Guru Sahib says:

Gur Pooraa Maeraa Gur Pooraa ||

My Guru is perfect, my Guru is perfect.

Raam Naam Jap Sadhaa Suhaelae Sagal Binaasae Rog Kooraa ||1|| Rehaao ||

Chanting the Lord's Name, I am always at peace; all my illness and fraud is dispelled. ||1||Pause||

Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Raamkalee on Pannaa 901

And it's really as simple as that! The problem is that we (including myself) question so much, yet do so little. Wherever there is Sach, there is bound to be opposition. Just look at our Glorious history! Where our Guru Sahibs did Parchaar of Gursikhi, there was resilience from Brahmins and Mughals. Why? Because of the fear of Truth and the fear a complete revolutionary ideology being spread!

Though I agree it's healthy to do veechaar, there should be point where we realise, "Am I just going to keep questioning Gurmat all my life, or actually implement it into my Jeevan?

The only way we can dispel doubt from our minds is by reading, listening, studying and implementing Gurbani into our lives and Japping Naam with our every breath. This can only happen through Kirpaa of Vaheguroo:

Kirapaa Keejai Saa Math Dheejai Aat(h) Pehar Thudhh Dhhiaaee ||

Show Your Mercy, and bless me with such understanding, that I may meditate on You, twenty-four hours a day.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Soohee on Pannaa 779

    However, Bhai Gurdaas Jee says:

Gurasikhee Baareek Hai Sil Chattan Fkiee||

To be disciple of the Guru is very subtle activity and it is like licking of the tasteless stone.

    Thrikhee Kha(n)ddae Dhhaar Hai Ouh Vaalahu(n) Nikee||

It is thinner than the hair and sharper than the edge of the sword.

    http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=5738

Gurmat was never meant to be easy, so I guess all we can do is constant Ardas for Guru Jee to bless us with Naam and a True understanding for his Gursikhi. Next time we go on a questioning frenzy, we should remember:

Aat(h) Pehar Har Kae Gun Gaao ||

Twenty-four hours a day, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

Jeea Praan Ko Eihai Suaao ||

This is the purpose of human life.

Thanks Veerji!!! I heard one of the Shabads on a local radio a few months ago, and it was a really nice Shabad. I requested for anyone here to upload if they had it, but no one replied....until now! :TH:

hahaahahah "all of khalsa panth except AKJs"..a very shrewd comment.

Before you begin to judge me, I'm not some AKJ fanatic but your comments are quite absurd.

AKJ means akhand keertanee jatha. If you're sat singing keertan at a rehansbai, well congratulations..you're part of the jatha!

'AKJ' (dont like using that reference, would prefer Panj Pyarey) isnt the only place to obtain Naam Dridta..for instance amrit sanchars at most rehansbais, gurdwara Tapoban Sahib, Bibeksar sahib and amrit sanchars held in Mali.

It's a diamond given to you. so it's your choice if you want to flash it around and lose it.

No point making an issue of not being able to attend amrit vela when you can always get Pesh!..don't worry you will still be part of the khalsa panth.

Funny how you segregated khalsa panth and 'akj' when its probably the largest parchaar organisation WITHOUT it's own maryada.

happy new year and have a nice day :D

    100% agree with you.

isnt saas giras ment to be gupt? i fout thats y they ban all of the khalsa panth except AKJs from the amrit veleh?? but den der all there in rensbais and kirtan darbaars doing it like no 1s there?? confuses me man!

There has been an increasing number of posts on this issue. Rather than posting messages and questions here, don't you think the best thing simply would be to go to the next Amrit Sanchaar and get your doubts cleared up there????? If that doesn't answer your questions, then OK go to the next Amrit Sanchaar. Again, if that doesn't work, go to the next Amrit Sanchaar you can, and keep going until you get your questions answered and doubts cleared up. :D

Going back to the ORIGINAL message, may Guroo Jee bless everyone with Naam, Bani and Sevaa.

Kirapaa Keejai Saa Math Dheejai Aat(h) Pehar Thudhh Dhhiaaee ||

I would like to humbly request to anyone who has the Shabad:

I have grown weary of making so many friends, hoping that someone might be able to end my suffering.

  11. i suppose gurbani talks abt preserving a jewel which is blessed to individuals who crave for the rass of naam..

veer/bhain you should ask your question at the next amrit sanchar as you shouldnt really expect a full answer on this forum. :umm:

I 2nd that. If you don't understand after asking Gursikhs the same question, or by doing khoj of Gurbani and other text, then the ultimate is to humbly ask the question at the next Amrit Sanchar. Like Novtej Singh said, you shouldn't expect a full answer on this forum. :TH:

  12. Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Vaheguroo Jee Ki Fatheh!

Just to clear a few things up.

Keski as a Kakaar Rehit is given by Guru Jot Panj Piare.

Naam Drir is given by Guru Jot Panj Piare.

Wear a Keski regardless of whether you beieve Kes or Keski as a Kakaar.

Amritvela is a must for everyone. There's no fixed time/limit, and most do Amritvela between the hours of 12am and 6am. Gurbani has all the answers, so search for references if required.

I suggest you go to an Amrit Sanchar which is conducted according to Rehit Maryada, published by the SGPC. If you understand what Naam Drir is, (if not, talk to Gursikhs, and they should explain to you) and if you feel it is a necessity for your journey towards Akaal Purkh, then go to an Amrit Sanchar conducted by Akhand Kirtani Jatha.

Just remember, whichever Amrit Sanchar(s) you end up at, it’s down to Karam and Bhana of Satguru.

  13. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ke Fateh

  14. Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Vaheguroo Jee Ki Fatheh!

Like always on this forum, things are taken completely out of context. 84_Survivor jee, Novtej Singh is not implying that this jatha is 'THE' Jatha. To simply put it and to avoid any confusion, Akhand Kirtani Jatha is sometimes referred as 'jatha' by some people. That's ALL there is to it.

As for the programme clashes, while credit should be given to organisers on both sides, in fairness the monthly Reansbaee dates/locations have been set way before the Atam Ras keertan programme. Some consideration should be taken at least for other programmes happening locally from Atam Ras keertan organisers and also from the local sevadaars.

Would there be a different reaction from the Sangat if a Reansbaee was organised and clashed with Atam Ras programme in the same or neighbouring town, given that Atam Ras dates/locations were set way before?

Anyway, the logical thing for anyone wanting to attend both programmes would be to go the Atam Ras programme and then attend the Reansbaee Keertan in Bradford.

Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Vaheguroo Jee Ki Fatheh!

PS. To commemorate 400 years Shaheedi Purab of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, plans are being made to show 'Shaheedan De Sirtaj' film by S. Hardeep Singh (who also directed 'Amar Khalsa' & 'Dharam Di Chaddar') before the Reansbaee commences. More details will be released soon.
