  1. Guru Pyareyo, Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh Some facts - The probable source from where these bag makers got the Pavitar Bani Gutakas are Waste Material Vendors who bought waste papers/ books etc. from the households etc. - Though in Delhi and some cities, there is better awarness for handling the old Gutakas/ Gurbani quotes books and SGGS Jee as per the gurmat e.g. Angettha Sahib @ Gurudwara Majnu Ka Tilla Sahib (Delhi), Angettha Sahib sewa near Goindval Sahib, Angettha Sahib sewa in Khushal Pur (near Dehradun, Pounta Sahib Jee) but such awarness programme (keeping proper box for such stuff & deputing someone to carrying to the central place for the Agan Bhet etc.) need to carried out on very large scale. - About printing and selling of Gurbani Gutakas etc. , although Akal Takhat Sahib Hukamnama is there but reality is different. Selling Nitname/ Sukhmani sahib and other Baanis Gutakas outside most of the historical gurudwara sahibs in India by the Shopkeepers, keeping Gutakas on a Table without proper cover or so is not a good way. Also, Sankot Mochan Shabads (similar like some hindu mythological way) is being available on these shops too. Certainly, Panth Central Agencies i.e. SGPC, DSGPC needs to take an immediate call on such issues to stop such beadabis. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh

  3. waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh I fully seconded and feel the pain in our hearts for 1984 genocides and many such unjustified acts. Its rather more painful that even after 25 years of such heinous crime still no justice. But, Guru Pyareyo, we should also think deeper into the reasons of these crimes e.g. the supportive internal and external factors for such issues, the ill treatment to the victims by our own ppl/organization. We need to analyse all the reasons and make sure such things not happen again in future with us again. To draw a bigger line opposite to another line, one can also draw a bigger line than other rather focusing on erasing the other line. Education, Health, effective sikhi parchar (baani attey baanaa), sports encouragement etc. are the some of the areas we need to work. Just my personal views, apology if hurt anyone _/\_. 17. Pyareyo , start with small one , basic object is motivation and push up hence may not involve big chunk of money. These team can make network and bridge the gap among the Panthic and NGOs organizations and also coordinate with civic authorities etc. Sharing, caring with few sweets words and let the ppl. feel that we are with them and let us all together be blessed will not involve much money. Money also can be saved from so many irrelevant and low output panthic activities like organizing so many nagar kirtans, constructing so many gurudwaras (not sikhs) , spending huge money on langar (which is primarily not for the privilged one) WAHEGURU
  18. waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh The problem or other problems in sikhism are not new but the only thing is missing is SOLUTION of these problems. It is easy to blame anybody SGPC, DSGPC while sitting in an Air conditioned room on a latest machine, u do not do this or that. Pyareyo if we have really wanna to do something for our Kaum welfare then have to come out in the field and work together in real not on discussion forums. Why not a group of youth from outside India and Indian Sikhs form teams and go pind to pind , nagar to nagar show gurmat movies, hold discussions with ppl, talk to govt. authorities / sikh authorites to do what they are suppose to do , also contribute dasvandh for real needy ppl. But soon this topic will go into history and we are again back to our AC room with latest machine and saying SGPC or Indian sikhs are crap or so on........................... For fulfill the hunger we do not talk about food , we actually eat food. bhulla chukka dee khimmaa waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh -------------------------------------------------
  19. Swami Ramdev raises funds in US for university July 24, 2007 13:27 IST Yoga guru Swami Ramdev, as part of his mission to raise Rs 100 crore for his proposed yoga and ayurveda university, has visited several US cities and taught yoga at camps that attracted a large number of people, mostly Indians and other South Asians. About 10,000 people participated in the camps conducted in New York, New Jersey and other states, the organizers said. Many participants shed 10 pounds of weight after attending just two sessions, according to Animesh Goenka of the Heritage India group, the main organiser of the yoga camps in New York and New Jersey. Ramdev is the founder of the Divya Yog Mandir Trust and the Patanjali Yogpeeth in Hardwar in Uttarakhand in India. He conducts monthly yoga camps and gives TV shows in India. ''Yoga can prevent diseases; it can't cure the illnesses that need surgery,'' Ramdev told UNI at the conclusion of a camp on nearby Long Island where about 1,300 people participated. ''We don't wish away the modern medicine, but yoga certainly helps prevent certain diseases and reduces the negative effects of some others.'' In his brief interview, he urged Indian-Americans and others to preserve their cultural heritage and teach its values to fellow Americans. He urged the community to help their poorer brethren back home. His two-hour sessions comprised pranayama, asanas and lectures. A team of ayurveda professionals, accompanying Ramdev, offered health-related information at no charge to camp participants. When Ramdev's project is completed, it will comprise a yoga university, a hall that accommodates 5,000 people to practice yoga, a research center to study the benefits of yoga and ayurveda and a hospital to treat 5,000 patients a day. http://www.rediff.com/news/2007/jul/24ramdev --------------------------------------------------- DSGMC Guru Harkhishan Medical Institute : Bala Sahib Friends , above is the report showing how well managed efforts brings excellent results . On other side DSGMC Delhi is doing Kar Sewa for Guru Harkrishan Medical Institute [ Gurd Bala Sahib Delhi ]since decade and has collected millions on the name of college and till today nothing has been completed . Even so called president of DSGMC don't want to talk over this project.
  20. waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh Good post, such information should be shared with sangat. I knows its difficult but atleast sikhs in west should now stop concentrating on making buildings and should invest in educational, medical and other such projects which benefits not only sikh community but also build up and improve social image of Sikhs in the World. waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee keefateh
  21. HOLA MOHALLA !!! "DUNIYA DI BOLI TE SINGHAAN DA BOLA LOKAAN DI HOLI TE SINGHAAN DA HOLA SIKHAAN NE GURU JI DA HUKAM KAMAUNA HOLI NAHI ASSIN HOLA MOHALLA MANAUNA" Hola Mohalla or Hola Mahalla or simply Hola is a Sikh festival that takes place on the first of the lunar month of Chet which usually falls in March. This follows the Hindu festival of Holi; Hola is the masculine form of the feminine sounding Holi. The word "Mohalla" is derived from the Arabic root hal (alighting, descending) and is a Punjabi word that implies an organized procession in the form of an army column. But unlike Holi, when people playfully sprinkle color, dry or mixed in water, on each other, the Guru made Hola Mohalla an occasion for the Sikhs to demonstrate their martial skills in simulated battles. Together the words "Hola Mohalla" stands for "mock fight". During this festivals, procession are organised in the form of army type columns accompanied by war-drums and standard-bearers and proceeding to a given spot or moving in state from one gurdwara to another. The custom originated in the time of Guru Gobind Singh who held first such mock fight event at Anandpur in February 1701. The foothills of the Shivaliks in Ropar district of Punjab's north-eastern region, especially around the historic townships of Anandpur Sahib and Kiratpur Sahib, have, since 1701 been playing host to Hola Mohalla. Recently, the Indian government accorded it the status of a national festival. This annual festival held at Anandpur Sahib in Punjab and now replicated at other Gurdwaras worldwide was started by the tenth Sikh Guru, as a gathering of Sikhs for military exercises and mock battles on the day following the festival of Holi at Anandpur Sahib. It reminds the people of valour and defence preparedness, concepts dear to the Tenth Guru who was at that time battling the Mughal empire and the hill kings. On this three-day grand festival, mock battles, exhibitions, display of weapons, etc are held followed by kirtan, music and poetry competitions. The participants perform daring feats, such as Gatka (mock encounters with real weapons), tent pegging, bareback horse-riding, standing erect on two speeding horses and various other feats of bravery. There are also a number of Darbars where Sri Guru Granth Sahib is present and kirtan and religious lectures take place. On the last day a long procession, led by Panj Pyaras, starts from Takhat Keshgarh Sahib, one of the five Sikh religious seats, and passes through various important Gurdwaras like Qila Anandgarh, Lohgarh Sahib, Mata Jitoji and terminates at the Takhat (Keshgarh). For people visiting Anandpur Sahib, langars (voluntary community kitchens) are organized by the local people as a part of sewa (community service). Raw materials like wheat flour, rice, vegetables, milk and sugar are provided by the villagers living nearby. Women volunteer to cook and others take part in cleaning utensils and other manual tasks that need to be carried out. Traditional cuisine is served to the pilgrims who eat while sitting in rows on the ground.(Pangat). The effect of colours used in holi is transitory. How should we celebrate holi? This is what GURU SAHIB JI says: "HOLI KEENI SANT SEV RANG LAAGA ATT LAAL DEV(1180)" it means "I celebrate the festival of Holi by serving GOD(means by doing SIMRAN OF GOD i.e.WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU.)
