  1. If a jury has convicted him, I seem to recall (though may be wrong) that he cannot appeal against it unless the crime involved is murder/manslaughter and/or significant new evidence comes to light. I wouldn't foresee any new evidence coming to light. SO could Ghoman advise - is the appeal against the CONVICTION or SENTENCE? Waheguroo
  2. Were AKJ UK Jathedaars actually at the Cov meeting, i.e., the likes of Bhai Raghbir Singh, Bhai Jarnail Singh, Bhai Saun Singh? The Cov meeting was not a Panthic meeting in the true sense. Most of the guys in the pics above are "one-man-band" organisations. Waheguroo
  3. Matheen bhajee - whenever you post, there's a massive blank white space afterwards until the next post. "AK-47" also made this point in another thread. Must be the Kirpaa of being of a mod, but annoying for the rest! Waheguroo
  4. His record is not so impeccable now, is it? No conviction for perjury is minor. Perjury is perjury - he was convicted of lying to the court when he took an oath that he was telling the truth. A lie may be an honest mistake, but that is why, when giving evidence in court, he should have been even more careful in giving evidence. He should have known this, especially if he was working with the legal system for over 30 years. To encourage truthful submissions under oath, the law must always prosecute these kind of cases. No conviction for perjury can ever be on a technicality. To maintain the integrity of the legal system and being a member of the legal profession, surely you must appreciate this? Is he appealing against the conviction or the sentence? Keep us updated on the progress of his appeal. Waheguroo
  5. New SS Banner - I like. In amongst these difficult times for the Panth, it is important that we carefully analyse what's going on. Certain individuals are trying to manipulate the Panth and the youth to cause deep splits and divisions amongst us, in the name of the Sachkhand-Nivaasee Sants/Bhagats/GurSikhs in the Banner above. Even though there are differences of opinion and approach, these are all minor in the big scheme of things. We must show unity and not fall for the dirty politics. Rather, identify and marginalise the trouble-makers in the Panth. Waheguroo
  6. BUMP - Sangat coming from far and wide for this programme. Waheguroo
  7. Mejinderpal Kaur's cell phone number: 07949 526 246 / 07501 145 230 If you can't get through, PM me. Waheguroo
  8. Allow Namstang to post - others who want the same, also post!

  9. Bhai Harbaljit Singh Ji were awesome - check out their recordings from Sikhroots link above. They will also be at Leicester Raag Darbar: http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php/topic/49525-raag-darbaar-in-leicester/
  10. Excellent show, Singh on the left was Bhai Daljeet Singh Nirmala. The Boy presenting was very good - refreshing to see youth being given a chance. More shows like this giving Giaan about Dasam Paatshah's Bani are required. Waheguroo
  11. Has there been confirmation if any Maharaaj dae Saroop were in the building or other Senchiyaan, Pothian or Gutkas? This Thaath is part of Nanaksar Wolverhampton/Guru Nanak Sikh School organisation. Hopefully sevadaars can confirm to Sangattan ASAP. Waheguroo
  12. Can anyone provide more info on Mandeep Bajwa? I did a Google Search and there was nothing substantive on him. Agree that we should be writing letters to our MPs/BBC. Rob Marris MP assisted Sikh Federation in getting more air time for Sikh issues on BBC, and I'm sure he'd help if the BBC was shown to be using known Congress agents to create one-sided documentaries for the BBC, especially on 1984. 13. Sangrand in itself is not an extra special/holy day - it is just like any other day. However, it is the beginning of the new month and Maharaaj Jee has written Bani in relation to each month (two Baareh Maahas in Gurbani - in Raag Maajh and Tukhari). I unfortunately do not do Abhiyaas of Baareh Maaha da Paath every day, though try to use each Sangrand to do Paath of these Baniaan, and in particular, focus on what Sandesh Maharaaj Jee is giving for the particular month. Other Gursikhs do this as well, and this is the reason that the name of the month and Bani related to the month from Baareh Maaha Maajh is read at Darbar Sahib and countless other Gurdwaras across the world on each Sangrand. Historically, in Punjab, Pooranmashi, Sangrand and Massiyaa are days which the general public knows of, and accordingly, there are Diwans arranged on these days every month so that Sangat can go and take Laaha of Jor-Melas, Raensbaaes, Akhand Paath Bhogs, etc., as there will definitely be a programme on these days. For example, at Nanaksar Kaleraan, Baba Nand Singh Jee arranged for Smaagams on each of these days and Sangat attended in their thousands. This tradition continues even today. The monthly Smaagam at Gurdwara Parmeshwar Dwaar is held on Sangrand every month. Since this is pukka Diwan of Sant Baba Ranjit Singh Jee, Sangat always attends in their tens of thousands. In this respect, these days are special as they provide the opportunity for Sangat every month. Nanaksar Sampardhaa also celebrates Pooranmashi because this is the day that Guru Nanak Dev Jee Maharaaj chose to come on this planet. Now, Baba Nand Singh Jee said that we should remember Guru Nanak Dev Jee's coming into this world every day at Amritvela - this will give us the objective of our life on a daily basis. However, if we can't do this everyday, then at least we can do it at every Pooranmashi. This is why every Puranmashi at Nanaksar Kaleran is dedicated to Guru Nanak Dev Jee, and his coming into the world. Waheguroo
  14. This documentary was made after much lobbying to the BBC by the likes of Sikh Federation and other organisations that Sikhs need to have better representation in mainstream media, to differentiate us from Muslims in the eyes of the general UK population and because we are an active and engaged part of the UK population. Once we get a documentary, if "Amritdhari Sikhs" know the issues, it is up to us to convey those issues in an intelligent way. Clearly the general population doesn't know them and even (as is clear from Sonia Deol) the Punjabi population doesn't know them. Having some sort of documentary highlighting some issues does help to some extent in the education process, though clearly we are all aggrieved that the full extent of our plight was not shown. If we 'bash' Sonia Deol only with the intent of bashing her, then we will not progress. In itself, there is no harm in bashing provided that we learn from the mistakes and take it upon ourselves to ensure that the next documentary is more representative of the truth. We have to carry on our lobbying efforts to educate the wider world as to what happened to us. This includes speaking respectfully to Sonia Deol so that she knows the strength of feeling and continued injustice faced by Sikhs. Let her know that the documentary was not good enough and she missed many of the real issues. Another important point is that more youth amongst us are the people to whom the BBC turns to when they want to cover stories/issues facing Sikhs. It was good that Rav Kaur was interviewed, though from a Sikhi perspective, it would have been better if she was permitted by the BBC to convey the injustices faced by Sikhs (as she does so eloquently at the yearly June rally) in the main form of the documentary, rather than the clueless 18-year old selling Sant Jee posters or Indaaaarjit Singh. The Indian Govt lobby has, is and will always seek to portray Sant Jee as the terrorist. We have to take it upon us to make sure that our voice gets heard - we have a long way to go in this regard. 15. BUMP - Leicester Sangat is privileged to host such a unique event in maintaining Keertan Maryada. All are welcome. Waheguroo
  16. They gave the same old story about Sant Jee with Congress and then turning against Congress, and the Sikhs killing innocent Hindus. Was not balanced, especially going to Mark Tully, who is anti-Sikh as they come. What the documentary failed to delve into was the injustice felt by the Sikhs post-1947, and particularly after the role of the government at state and national level in the 1978 Nakli Nirankaree Saka. This was the major reason for 1984,and the pre-meditated govt attack on Darbar Sahib. However, I was encouraged by the presenter, who was more neutral than I expected her to be. Waheguroo
  17. It's very easy. See the instructions on the following link under "Locate Us". http://gurbanisanthiya.webs.com/ Waheguroo
  18. If you cannot attend Bhai Baldeep Singh's class, you can take Santhiaa online from Bhai Charanjit Singh Taksaal Wale online via Skype - search the forum and his details will come up. Waheguroo
  19. I think Jathedaars made a great decision. Darshan wants the chance to shout and spread propoganda that Jathedaars are one-sided and are rushing to excommunicate him. By pre-empting this, Jathedaars have showed the worldwide Sangat they are willing to listen and give him another chance to come to Akal Takhat with Nimartaa. I doubt he will take this chance, and sending hate-filled letters to Akal Takhat is showing the worldwide Sangat (many who do not have the opportunity of having uptodate info via Sikhsangat) Darshan's true colours.
