  1. Go for an Iriver H120...sadly its no longer available, but you can buy it from eBay like I did. You can record .mp3 from 60kbps all the way up to 320kbps or in .Wav You won't be disappointed with the recording options and the quality it give you. You can either record from a Line-in (normal or even an optical input) or an external Microphone. A microphone is provided with the accessories which works very well Or you can spend 70 bucks on a better one if you know a line-in will not always be available where you are recording.
  2. Can this mystery every be expressed by thoughts of the mind or written with words?
  3. Once you are thrown in the ocean, your first reaction is not to find out how you got there, but to first get ourself out of the water, swim to a shore for safety. Time being of utmost importance it would be wise to put efforts towards swimming to the shore as the end of the river which is a waterfall approaches fast. Fear can guide you, given the fear itself is utilized properly or Fear as you are interpreting can become submissive to the point that you are held captive by a mere tool that is suppose to give you urgency that you are going to die so do something, swim to the shore now!.
  4. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?act=Se...ighlite=%2BKaam http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?act=Se...ighlite=%2BKaam Some good and bad advice has been given in these threads in the link...tread these thread wisely...listen to what you heart agrees with and practice it. See if it works.
  5. Let us pray that in the future we will realize this before we take such action to criticize others. I often find myself criticizing a relative who drink alcohol and after having a long, outdrawn and mostly fruitless discussion in their addiction to alcohol I find myself contemplating on my personal addictions that arise from these vices. To be aware of the mirror in our mind which causes us to see our own face is in itself a blessing. Fortunate is he who is still able to hold on to some awareness either before or after their error....there still remains hope for change!!
  6. I believe it would be naive for us to think that these 5 vices are different entities separate from each other. We cannot be selective and say only this vice is affecting me while the others are under control. Either all are under control or none of them are. They are interlinked with each others...as anon said Attachment is the source for the other 4, then it is only valid to state that the Ego is the source of Attachment. As long I am, then all the 5 thieves exist equally. One may dominate you today, but another one might tomorrow. To state one as being dominant is to state that all of them are being dominant as they stem from the same Ego source. That one vice is equal to the other 4 it just takes a different form . Often people will speak against Lust or Anger or Greed etc and criticize other or belittle others who have such tendencies. They feel they can speak to others in such a manner because they don't feel lust themselves, but given time to observe them they might be Angry in their manner or Greedy about their possessions. How hypocritical it would be of us to judge another for the vice dominating them and failure to see that another dominating us. just some observing thoughts.

  9. There was a a great seeker who would rise early in the morning to meditate. He'd walk up to the Ganga river wet his blanket in the frigid cold water and wrap it around him so his mind would stay awake and not fall back into sleep. Cold water is an instrument to awaken your mind early in the morning. Let us not create a dogma around it that somehow God expects "only" cold water to be used. Using Cold water in a Rehatnama ensures that the Saadhik who does indeed awaken in the morning will remain awake if he was instructed to bathe with Cold Water. Use it as an instrument, not as Gospel. If indeed you wanted to awaken yourself in the morning your mind would've come up with using cold water regardless if you were instructed to do so by a Rehatnama or not.
  10. It is irrelevant to whom Daan is given to, but it matter with what intentions...It become Karam Khand when it is given with the thought that you are going to receive something in return, either from God or the person you gave the Daan to. If given without ego and expecting something in return only then is it Daan otherwise you are simply creating Karma. Papi made an excellent point. There is only one Daata(giver)...let us not fool our egos into thinking that we too can be Givers to others. Whatever it is that we are giving to others is from the treasure of what the only True Giver has given to us. Beggars cannot be givers, they can share from what they have begged from the Giver.
  11. Thank you for a thought provoking post :s If the world outside is in a Trumoil, one cannot hope to live in this same world without the Turmoil affecting him/her. Perhaps because you yourself are a female and can easily relate to the oppressed females you are infact taking upon their cause even though you yourself have experience neither oppression nor persecution. It is perhaps our human nature to be sympathetic towards others and if we have a common bond with the other we are more inclined to do so. Many White men took upon the cause of Slavery alongside Black men even though they were not slaves. Perhaps you are not fighting to free yourself from oppression or lack of inequality, but perhaps in your actions you are voicing those women who are indeed oppressed.
  12. no offence, but a lot of sikhs don't know much about their religion. So I am not surprise to see how the guy in the video doesn't know the 5 K's. There is a difference in not knowing and having a memory lapse. Please refer to buddasingh's Post, he has explained it very well.
  13. Who/What says that I am the Soul? Who creates the thought of association with the Soul and a Mind? Is the mind looping on itself to create its identity? Does the Mind have a soul when it forges the thought that I have a Soul? Who is this I which associates itself to the Mind, Thought, the Soul and the Body?
  14. What in the world was in the email? :s
  15. The Guru exists only as long as the Deciple is a Deciple, But when the Deciple is no more, the Guru cease to be as well.
  16. Could it be that it is because of the existence Maya that you are allowed to feel this separation.....Perhaps it is not that Maya blocks you from Divinity, rather it is Maya that makes it possible for you seek such Divinity. Man can claim to be lost only when he can recall his destination...otherwise wherever he is, it is his home.
  17. Here is another good discussion. http://www.sikhawareness.com/sikhawareness...ce+heaven#54526 Tarkay Dunia, Tarkay Ukhbah, Tarkay Maulla, Tarkay Tark. I Renounce the (desire for) World , I Renounce the (desire for) Heaven, I Renounce the (desire for) God, I Renounce the Desire for Renunciation. I've heard a Great Master who said once, if you wish to have the joy of attachment and desire then attach yourself to God, then desire God himself.
  18. is there another source for this link besides a blog.
  19. Such intolerance can be seen even on forums like this and others. It is a habitual reaction of our ego to react with anger when someone doesn't agree to our views. It is our unwilling to listen or even unwilling to consider that perhaps, just perhaps whatever the other person has to might also be true. you should forward this quote to your friend.

  23. Very stupid move.. We do respect all religion but that doesn't mean we agree with everything in their dharam.. What was the stupid move? "After re-reading the historic Hindu prayer, Zed said that one had to act for the benefit of all. Despite our seriously different traditions, we should learn to live in some sort of trust and mutual loyalty. God, as a sign of God's bountifulness and generosity, positively willed the existence of different faiths, he added."
