  1. i've supported in many of these organisations and seen how each is run before taking a stance. difference is i realise when the time is up and a fresh start is needed. in order to plant something new, you have to clear out the weeds and the dead wood lest they ruin the next crop. same way if this organisation is going to be full of these CORRUPT individuals who have failed us with their dodgy dealings in media, jathey, gurughars, politics etc over past 2 decades then this will go the same way.
  2. agree with comments made by Satkaar. there's a lack of transparency particularly in larger GuruGhars, tv, radio channels, media, jathebandhis and other organisations reliant on Sangat's donations but not run according to their wishes. these have all failed our community over past decade yet the solution is to unify them into one collective unit which is even less accountable? is this council not a collection of the most corrupt nefarious elements in our community? no doubt i'm sure you'll take on a few youngsters and women to do the paperwork
  3. http://www.sikhee.com/video.html or http://www.rajkaregakhalsa.net/video.htm download from the "general" section
  4. was my cousin's wedding today. most of my relations skipped the GuruGhar and went straight to the party hall to get bladdered and as usual they drank til they threw up (including the women) and there was the customary punch up. i went to the GuruGhar rather than that, doesnt make me superior as we're all from the same source and i was like that once. people get happiness from different things bruv. some people depend on alcohol to fuel it, others use other sources. personally i dont think that stuff makes someone genuinely happy as asians especially are problem-drinkers. some people do things ritualistically without focusing on the why but same goes for why people blindly follow culture like sheep. going to see Guruji isnt a chore! He's the only person that no matter what you've done in life.. the door is always open. my parents are kinda similar. guess it depends on whether you are attached to your parents? whether you rely on them needing to be a role model or not. as sikhs our role model is Guruji and the countless GurSikhs that gave their lives helping others. there'll come a time when the drinks, the bars, clubs and the women become tasteless, shallow and bland. thats the time when people begin to value the sources of positive energy in their lives. try doing sewa, eg in the Langar like washing dishes and guarantee you'll feel happier. try reading translations of Gurbani, Guruji is pure love.
  5. in these kind of out of school activities people organise these in their spare time and often they go over the top and over discipline and yes when they do it sets a bad example but to be honest compared to the way kids were disciplined in previous generations they got it EASY. kids these days are brought up with very little discipline. parents complain over everything and there are so many rules in schools, that even well-paid teachers find it stressful having to be so careful. so dong this as sewa? majority of those who complain about this won't have experienced it. sikh kids today far from being bhujangis, they are brought up to cry for their mommy and carry security blankets. when u look at muslim & black kids by comparison its no wonder they get bullied and give up their sikhi saroop so easily.

  7. Translations and Gurbani media do help people take the first steps in Sikhee like learning Gurbani, improve pronunciation, learning vocabulary. After that stage they become a hindrence. All the current Gurbani media have tonnes of errors and as for the translations.. Gurbani is a lot deeper than that.. Sri Darbar Sahib isnt a football stadium - this should be referred to those who know about Heritage Conservation as too much damage is being done to our historical sites in india as it is. as for the SGPC dont even get me started..
  8. Guru pyareo that video is by Darshan Dassiay: "Sachkhand Nanak Dham Mahraz Tarlochan Darshan Das Ji" these people are GurNindaks in disguise

  13. To continue to encourage those who wish to learn Gurbani, Chandi Charitar 2 is available freely on Youtube.com/Sikhi for streaming, and on www.Sikhee.com on www.RajKaregaKhalsa.Net for downloading. It will be available in .wmv for computers, .mp4 for iPods, .3GP for mobiles, etc and any other format sangat wants. Chandi Charitar 2: The aim of these ballads (the 2nd has 266 verses) is to inspire warriors to stand up for truth and righteousness in the face of tyranny and oppression. On a deeper level they deal with the internal struggle to control basic animal instincts. The ballads are extremely metaphorical and deeply narrative in nature, and describe the battles of Durga (also known as Chandi, Bhawani, Kalika) against many demon warlords (such as Sumbh, Nisumbh, Chandh, Mundh, Domar Lochan and Rakt Beej). Based on the tales of Durga in Markandey Puraan, these ballads also weave in the intricacies of the higher power (Akal) that controls creation, yet is also within it.
  14. To continue to encourage those who wish to learn Gurbani, Shabad Hazare Patshahi 10 is available freely on Youtube.com/Sikhi for streaming, and on www.Sikhee.com on www.RajKaregaKhalsa.Net for downloading. It will be available in .wmv for computers, .mp4 for iPods, .3GP for mobiles, etc and any other format sangat wants. Shabad Hazare Patshahi 10: Within these 10 verses, Guru Gobind Singh ji describes his philosophy and inherent beliefs of Dharam and its perception. Speaking against mindless rituals, and beliefs in many Gods (as opposed to belief in the One), the ballads narrate the greatness of the Almighty. One ballad that is added to these, known as 'Khiyaal Patshahi Dasmi' (translates to 'thoughts of the tenth Master') is said to have been written in the deep jungles of Machhiwara.

  16. Paaji trust me all the singhs here around your age can relate to this. we all in the same boat LoL in fact you're in a better position than most in that you're beginning to realise its all BS LoL dont let it get to you by keeping yourself busy, focus on other things, do AV, simran, paath, kirtan with english translations, lots of sewa, exercise, etc. dont live in denial like most people, accept we are alone in life whether or not we have a partner - they can't go with you in the end & usually you can't rely on them anyway. our only real Support now and forever is GuruJee, so this Bairaag you're feeling - connect it with Raag and thats a beautifully powerful connection that will always be with you, giving you real peace
  17. welcome let me also recommend some other websites: http://www.sikhnet.com/ http://www.sikhiwiki.org/ http://www.sikhawareness.com http://www.srigranth.org/servlet/gurbani.gurbani?S=y http://www.gurbani.org/
  18. so those "presidents" being sleazy, SC's stance is if one cant beat em join em? great motto to do parchaar with. the doors are open but the minds are closed. Sikh Channel relies on DDs from Sangat, doing appeals, getting those you've just referred to ("presidents" and "committees") to promote and fund, excessive reliance despite funding on old sewadars whose views dont match those of viewers, getting involvement of "jathebadhis" to the extent that they can make 1 threat and SC will withdraw programming or adverts relating to events that they dont agree with so in what way is it an "independent media platform"? do you mean independent as in SC is not accountable to anyone? far from independence its a publicity tool for the most corrupt elements in our community..

It describes 32 years of his life, and brief episodes of other great warriors and battles. The paradoxical nature of the Almighty, the emotions of a warrior, and the greatness of truth is praised.
